Neither probably. He wants empirical proof, although I don't know what difference that might make.

Poker is, after all, a card game. And shit happens.

Hey 1984ioc

You're suffering confirmation bias. I don't know how much you've read about this stuff, but essentially the mind likes to make patterns. To the mind if something happens two or three times, it becomes fact. It's what helps us develop and learn.

The problem with confirmation bias is it doesn't see the long term, so if something that can happen relatively frequently, say 20% of the time, happens a few times in a row, the mind accepts it as fact, even though it's a low percentage of occurring.

Understanding confirmation bias helps open your eyes, not only in poker, but in a ton of things that happen on a societal basis. You can see it occur everywhere. It's just in poker losing money = rage for a lot of folks, so it can be difficult to see past it.

Dunno if this helps, but it's pretty important to understand to help you make better decisions.

I need to learn longer swear(/drug?) words... :f_confused:

Also what's with all this voluntary censorship? Much more entertaining to use the naughty words in posts like these.

It's more entertaining this way, we can play Hangman.

1984ioc, is there an F in your word?

I think everyone who makes "poker is rigged" thread should be perma banned from the internets.

Well not really, if it really is rigged and he provides proof why should he be banned. You guys think it's absolutely impossible to be rigged? What makes you think what happened at Absolute can't happen again? The thing is it's a different kind of rigging than what he's talking about.

Maybe there really should be a whole forum category for "rigged poker" threads. At least they have a proper venue to air this out, and maybe we can see if there's a consistent type of rigging going on, on the off chance that it might actually be happening be in one particular room.

Everyone moans about 'poker rigged' threads, but I think it's safe to say we've all muttered "fuckin rigged" under our breath either for or against our hand.

Moreover, these threads are always good for a laugh at the least!

In either event I think Waiboy's opinion is quite a rational explanation

+1 :)

ye, fukin rigged, the bastads!

Hey Waiboy. This appears to be the problem and what you say makes sense.I do see patterns in the games and yes i can't seem to get them out of my head.My apologies for my rant earlier.I normally play 4/5 tables and what i tend to see is i either do well on all of them or the exact opposite and lose on all of them and i can't get this out of my mind tbh.

I find it very hard to understand how this can happen.I don't put it down to whether i am playing well or not as i think i usually play to the same standard but so many times with in the space of 2/3 mins i will lose huge pots on a couple of tables and also the other way around.

To finish my tilt i can't stand motherfuckers constantly raising my blind and i fucking hate shortstacking bums who limp into every pot.

Cool fella. We all have to get our heads around this stuff at some stage - either that or go completely nuts.

ha the cashout curse, this happens to me everytime..

heres how to beat it...withdraw everything from your account, ,wait about 5 days then make a deposit which is enough to cover about 5 buyins at your stake. if u are good u will run well, probz go up about 10 buyins then withdraw ur winnings leaving 5 buyins again. u will win another 10 , so do the same thing only this time after u leave the 5 buyins u will run like crap and lose everything (ran my set into higher set 3 times) and you will lose quicker than ever. now instead of insta redepositing, wait a few days, cool off then deposit for 5 and wait for the upswing :)

enjoy!!!
