OMG. I really hope that some sort of legal action has been taken..

As a wise man once sad: money doesn’t change ppl, it reveals them.

This poker era should really end now I guess, there's so many "prodigys" all over the world.

Are you saying he installed a trojan on your PC too? That's just awful. Serious violence would be entirely in order imo.

I agree with this so much, apart from the family part. 2011 fucked me up so bad in this way, seems like 1 scandal after another. I got lucky with this one but it makes you realize that the poker world might be worse than most people think.

Don't know this guy very well, but he always came across as a very nice and social person. I really hope everybody gets at least a part of their money back.

It's pretty sick to not be able to trust your close friends or family members. Of course, if you have bad experiences it's logical, but it's such an important aspect of life to have people you can trust... :f_frown:

I realise that you both deal with a lot more money than I do, but wow.

I've read about this yesterday, and what came to my mind is, that for sure not he is the first who made this. It's just very easy to make thats the point. Most of the people who i know are very unpreperd about how to protect their things. The biggest mistake, what a lot of people make, is that they use public wifis. I mean, if someone just has one laptop, stores his whole life on it, and travels around the world, than its a very big mistake not to secure the machine. Using public wifi makes it possible to everyone to get acces to the pc, to iphone or any phones. And the tricky is, if one goes somewhere, he will always need internet, on the airports, on poker events they even offer it free. Beside it, it takes cirka 2 minute to install on any pc keylogger, which tracks every button press, i guess i dont have to say whats information is the most vurnelable: passwords you type in. Advanced keyloggers can track also the screen, so its just like when you share your screen with someone via TeamViewer or so...

I'm not some internet paranoid, but really don't understand thoose people, who take their iphone, and share the whole life via this. They log in to forusquare to share with everyone that they are not at home, download a lot of unnecessery application what they dont even know what will it install beside the very-important-farmville game or whatever... generally, people are so open for anything whats new and they dont even think it over if its necessery, what will they benefit, they just take it.

The other thing, the security of these poker clients, well....its not so big as everyone thinks. I mean (saw it from first line) that the developers working on a client are just so unorganised, the way how some companies store sensible files like sourcecodes and stuff is just kinda ridicoulus. If i would be a developer it would not take too much time to get acces for this.

Im very annoying with this, but i was always looking on everything and everyone at the first time that i tried to find out "where is the trick".

People, who are naive, who dont have life experience, who cant read people, who dont sense if something is not okay, and people who just has a lot of money and others know it, will always be the target of tricksters. I met pretty much poker player, who think they can read people. Without some live eperience, i barely think one can do it being 18. Some even cant when they are 35. If they could do it, than they would be already a great business man, like Gerv.

On the other hand, if everyone would be suddenly paranoid about others, if there would not be anymore people, who are just by nature helpful, positive thinking persons like you Thomas or Ash, than i think it would be basiclly that everyone is a lonely wolf, and people only interct if they need something from each other. Friendship, relationship will always include the opportunity to get hurt in any way.

The other thing, what im personally also worried is, that girls in poker are also very vulnerable :( 2 hungarian poker player girl got tricked in Slovakia once, while they were entering and event held in a hotel, someone robbed their room. I mean, how can a girl protect vs. this, or any kind of "attack"? :(

We are watching lately a lot from the series called Las Vegas, its just genious. I mean, its still just a story, but it present very good how many opportunites are out there to get tricked.

No, several Austrians and Germans got scammed. Im not one of those mentioned in the news, I just know him well and we spent time in Vegas together and also spent some weeks this summer @ lake with other friends.

He lived at a friend's place and also was in my house. FML, I never let anybody enter my home again.

Seems like he mostly scammed highstakes HU Pros he was close with. I mostly played SH PLO last months, just a few HU sessions.

Some of my close friends (who are not mentioned in the News so far) got hit rly hard which is xtremely lame.

If you experience so many personal scams in one year like I did in 2011, you rly lose trust/faith in many things. And no, the guy I talked about some weeks ago is not him. I get scammed from different guys simultaneously. LOL FML!!! But I will be playing back. I'm not a weak/tight reg. I'm an aggro maniac monkey!

Many things will change for 2012. I will start by getting a completely new computer setup running where it will be impossible to hack me. Thazar is gonna be my private coach :f_love:
finger print and iris scan before entering my office ... will think about some more security measures

Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.

He who has faith has... an inward reservoir of courage, hope, confidence, calmness, and assuring trust that all will come out well - even though to the world it may appear to come out most badly.

@ thazar, seems like we have a lot of work ahead of us

Maybe we need to add THEShade to my special IT consultancy team at a future point in time :f_grin:

also, I might consider trading some Hacking vs Poker Coaching ;)

Seems like more money to be made in that area

It takes a little software and someone who can use it and than you can generate the key to the wifi you want to enter.

Some good articles:

personally i think more importantly than securing ur network is to not let anyone on the laptop u grind on.

i dont think ppl realise how easy it actually is to write (and if u cant program) to atleast buy (for literally a hundred bucks or so) undetectable rats, u goto toilet whilst theyre in ur room and literally by the time u get back they can have a rat installed and ull never know

ofc u dont expect that of any of ur friends, but lets not forget pokers "perceived image" to "the non-poker world" it isn't and never has been perceived as a nice scene, always corrupt in some form whether it's been cheating or getting beaten the fk up in some back ally game like in brunsons day.

all im saying is, poker has this image for a reason, and for the most part ppl are great, but the minority let down the majority and it's a horrible truth u just gotta live with in all walks of life, especially where big money is concerned.
