Another leisure player beating the micros - not really news around here ![]()
I wont promise more than I can keep and I am not the next online poker star, but I hope to offer some food for thoughts and keep track of ideas and strategies, coupled with the outcome and this is what I will use this thread for.
A little introduction and some history:
I play on several sites, usually SNG og MTT in the lowest stake possible but I also take on the occasional cash game, but I far too often end up losing my BI.
I've been a member here on PS for about 2 years, and I have played poker since 2004, although until 2007 it was only the occasional homegame. I very quickly fell in love with the game
but to be honest; I was very bad.
After realizing that I wanted to play more than the occasional homegame, I started looking into the online games and I chose to start out with the now closed PokerRoom.
I started out playing some FLH cash game (which I had never tried before) with very little success and then I tried out various NL games on FT also with very little success (notice a pattern
).
Basically I did what most new players do: I played without a strategy, without proper bankroll management and without proper self control. Those are big and expensive mistakes. If you are new to poker do yourself a favor and read some strategy and learn bankroll management before starting, you will be happy with that later ![]()
Having blown my BR twice (a total of $115), I started looking for free cash and I found that Titan offered $50 when depositing $20 and VC Poker gave away $10 just for registering. Finally I found a site called pokerprofessor (similar to PokerStrategy) who offered $30 on CD Poker free of charge. So for a smallish deposit of $20 I was ready to take on the iPoker network with a total BR of $90. ![]()
I wasn't able to hold on to my BR on CD Poker and Titan went up and down, but for some reason I was doing ok on VC Poker and my BR started growing for the first time - during 2008 I was able to win back what I initially lost, which felt great
I then found PokerStrategy and got a starting BR on PokerStars in 2009 - after some initial good runs, I lost my entire roll and I decided that Stars was not the site for me.
Back to VC Poker, who then unfortunately switched to Entradiction in the end of 2010. I had about $250 on VC Poker at the time and I decided to withdraw and look for a new site.
Simultaneously PokerStrategy offered me my second BR on Party and I had some success there, but I grew tired of waiting for the SNGs to fill up so I withdrew and now had some $350 waiting in my MB account in the early 2011. At that point I had no idea where to play and I was looking all over for a decent iPoker site - maybe I was too picky, but I didn't seem to be able to find one. ♠_confused:
I will continue with the recent development in the next post...
Best regards
