holy shit, I had to get up at 7:30 (in the morning!!!). Obv still grinded and last night so only got about 3-4 hours of sleep. I even played NLHE HU CG and it was so much fun and so easy (well OK, I played a rly bad plr ), busted his account :f_love: :f_thumbsup:

However, the good thing about getting up so early is you can get quite some things done :f_biggrin: I worked 6 hours straight on different projects and everything worked out as expected. Good meetings all in all.

Not only did I put in hours for business ventures that will likely make me a lot of money in the longrun, I also worked on our "probably-not-yielding-much-of-a-$-profit-but-potentially-giving-us-incredible-fame-social-project (aka TT & JB poker book project) for two hours (can you believe that JB?!). Re-read it (JB is a pro, it reads rly well imo), edited some parts I've written and I even (eat this JB!) wrote two more pages! And on top of that, I already made some notes about things I will write on the plane to London on Sunday. Can you believe that Prof? Now you only have to rungood for 50k hands in early 2012 and we are gooooood :f_biggrin:

@ arnolde, mark and whoever read the discussions yesterday in our skype channel about motivation and goals. here in short my view on the part about goals:

I have an ambivalent opinion on goal setting. I do agree that setting goals gives us structure and something to look forward to. At university we learn that goals should be SMART. Under this definition, goals should be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-sensitive. I think it’s a good starting point, but not more than that simply because any goal – no matter how you define or describe it – is a limitation in itself.
The word is an Oxymoron itself is. I can only set goals for things I know, or can measure/define. However, why do I want to limit myself to things I already know? I don’t want to set a goal X when in fact I would be able to reach Y. Just the moment of formulating the goal, I have no idea about the possibility of reaching Y, maybe not even of its existence.
I agree, having some sub-goals or milestones on the way, helps to make sure we are on the right path. However, I don’t want to set / limit myself to specific goals. I rather say I want to do everything I can as best as I potentially am capable of to come closer to my visions. Those visions are definitely not measurable or specific, but at least I am not limiting myself. I don’t want to reach a certain limit in Poker. I don’t want to found a certain number of companies and I don’t want to make x$ of profits per year with whatever I do. I also don’t want to be happy as how I define happiness today because I am sure there is something out there I don’t even know of by now which potentially can make me even happier than I can think of. The only thing I want to make sure is that I do what I do as best as I can, while not ignoring principles of life, being open minded to new and self critical about everything.

Solid post _cool:

Love the section on motivation and goals, makes so much sense. Why focus on getting enough money to buy that new car when it's possible to have sooooo much more? Also sheds some new light on results orientedness, I mean not only does results orientedness hinder you through tilt and mindset etc but also through limiting how far you will go, as if you're focussing on a short term goal you're unlikely to surpass it as your motivation will plummet once you reach the goal. Whereas focussing solely on making your decisions as good as they possibly can be will allow you to go much further.

Astonishing! And yes, I am a pro. And you only wrote two pages? ......I'm kidding. :f_love:

50K hands = one month of rush when it comes back, so noooo problemo! _evil:

Great discussion and i think exaclty that's the reason we should distinguish goals and visions. Visions grasp to something unknown, specific goals help you to move on in the known towards unknown. Its like you want to see whats behind the horizon (vision), and for that you set a specific point within the horizon (goal) you want to reach to see behind the current horizon.

So goals are great for motivation, its hard to motivate yourself to grasp the unknown.

:diamond: watching good vids (Kyllonen on PS, Galfond on BFP, MagicNinja on DC)

:diamond: check equities as often as possible in game and after session analysis

:diamond: make sure you have a pro mindset to deal with the nature of the game

:diamond: being aware that you are a fish and have to improve constantly, even when running hot you need to make sure you dont make small mistakes

:diamond: being aware that there is no single golden rule. work harder than your opponents and you will eventually outsmart/outplay them in the mid and long run

muhahhha, finnish ftw :f_biggrin: sounds funny, but dont understand a single word
thnx 4 linking, sry I couldn't manage to even win my first flip today ... gl for your heat and hf in London!!

nuff said, not too much to talk about actually game wise. fast structure, lost first flip. gg.

Good to be here though, London is always worth a visit. Had great days and met many new faces. We knew in advance the structure is gonna be fast so I didn't rly expect much deep play anyway. Such events shouldn't be joined for the $EV, more for the PokerLifeStyleEV or how you wanna call it. I like such short trips, you experience so much in such a short period of time. Great way to develop some new ideas you often don't think about when being in your regular environment.

Tonight party with tha crew, tomorrow off to Vienna. Roo is joining us tonight and since he is a prof (break)dancer, I just watched some vids to be prepared

Fab, I think we gonna get our dancing asses pwned tonight
