Lol @ daughters FB...

Let me know what you think about the book overall as I am looking for more GOOD poker books to add to my library :)

Also, you should tell the wife that until she gets on here and earns her own $600 she is not getting a TV imo.

Feeling rough here also, bloody hate the winter!!! Anyway get dosed up on cough medicine and also found beechams cold and flu tablets are pretty effective. Get well soon :)

Tbh, I think I owe her much more than $600 for putting up with me.

And the best ever poker book is still a work in progress.......

Random waking thought: jb always breaks skype conversations in the day with "Arrgh, student :vomitsmiley:". New name for your blog "Another day, another scholar"

i) Current title focusses the mind on my current problems, most of which are solvable.
ii) Proposed title just reminds me of a problem (students) that is not solvable. As soon as you sort one out, another one appears, and as soon as you're done with one batch, another one arrives. I am Sisyphus.
iii) Not all students make me . Only 98% of them.

EDIT: We watched Limitless last night. It was alright but infinitely inferior to the book imo. You should all read it.

Lol fair points. I of course knew that you wouldn't change your blog title based on my random thoughts and plays on words, it's a pokerstrategy institution !

Played 1.5K hands of 5cd last night and ran very badly indeed (fh<fh, QQQ<KKK,888<999, all for lots of $$$). However, I felt that I mainly played well, and only lost $80 by the end. I feel like I'm starting to be a bit less ABC. I managed to successfully c/r bluff someone who stood pat ('He must have a full house, mustn't he? errrrrrr *tank fold* ) and also tried varying my bet sizes a bit more to get the desired result. There were a couple of regs who I felt had picked up on my 'small bet size = thin value' tell, and were raising these bets suspiciously often. To counter this I switched to 'big bet for thin value' for a bit to try to get bluffcaught, but, fml, they'd made their hand each time. And just to cap it off, my computer hibernated automatically at 10pm because of the stupid power saving software the University forces me to have on it (just missed the 'don't do it!' button), at precisely the moment that I filled up after calling a UTG raise. And Poker Heaven still won't work properly despite assurances from support that there's been a patch. Just not my night. A weaker professor might have tilted. I confined myself to several real life facepalms and some big sighs.

I've read more than half of The Mental Game of Poker now, and, particularly after last night's session, I think I can say that if I do tilt, it's subtle, and mainly mild Mistake Tilt (Jared's capitals, not mine). What I am finding useful is the stuff about the Adult Learning Model (Conscious Competence, Unconscious Competence, etc). It makes a lot of sense to me, and I am trying to mentally systematise what I know I know and know I don't know, and what I do correctly automatically and what I don't.

Ballet exam today! No, not for me. I think my plie is too rusty for that.

That's more like it! After a couple of beers I'm more attractive, more likeable, better at poker and acquire the ability to leap tall buildings. It is big, and it is clever. Just don't tell number one son I said so. The usual rules don't apply to your own teenage children.

After watching Spurs lose to Stoke, I may just do that. Jared doesn't say anything about Football Tilt (my capitals). :f_mad:
