And what motivation do you have when you have no goals?

Same goes for real life

Guys that have plans and try to realise them win in life

people that have no plans and goals are losers

People that stay status qou, is dead, they just haven't been buried yet :f_biggrin:

My goals..
..good question.

Info
I have been playing poker 5 years now, since I reached age of 18. So about my "career" not too big winnigs, I started at party were i played best cash games grinding 800+$ in nl10 and 20.. Mostly shorthanded. At party best tournament cash so far is 1,8k$ from 10k rb tournament. After that been playing not professionally many sites many promos. Ending almost allways little up or little down after promo +/- total probably. Best times I played NL50 +/- 0.

I got into looking my game (biggest notice was that volume doesn't compare the consentration and basing every decision on math.) like 4 weeks ago when I realised that when I play well I win quite well. Since that I have played only like 10k hands so its way too early to say am i doing well. My EV is up 800bbs and my real money is going about 1,2k bbs. I started from bottom again with 200$ from nl10 with medium stack strategy, though i continue playing without getting up from table eaven I hit the goal that is specified in MSS. I started enjoying my game a lot more when i started playing according to stats vs every enemy and i mean it. My game varies against all the opponents and I am hustling eaven the better players because they cant get decent stats from me because i play different stack sizes with different style. I am now playing at NL30 MSS were we get to my goals..

Main goal:
I have job now at ski resort for 3 months.. My main goal is to hit NL 100 with MSS in the end of march. Witch i calculated needs 35k hands with decent winning rate (6-7bbs/100h) and one 75$bonus counted in it. Means that i need to hit NL 50 in next 10k hands (approx. 6k needed)

Side goals: witch are ass important ass main goal
1. Spare enough money from work that i can try living one month with poker. With no stress either!
2. Play less, Play better!
3. Getting backup job, because supreme goal might not work out.

Everything I need to reach my goals..
Spend time well, I don't want to be poker player with no life. I need other people around me and i don't want to tilt on them when i lose some dollars online.. Most of then doesn't eaven understand why i play poker common comments "waste of time", "waste of money" etc. all you can imagine. Witch means that i don't want to play actually more than 140h/month.
Learn something new, yes in every video/article there is something to learn or think. Eaven its on bronze level I need to understand why to do so or why do I improve my game not doing ass told in bronze level. Its the math of the game.
To play only when I can play well.
Tons of math to do right decision and trying to remember well enough what i have counted so I can use it in my game.
There are tons of small things that goes with the flow and no I am not going to list all of them. Life is bigger than poker but it can be the income of funds when done well. So this is where I am aiming to "freedom" if I can say so.

Supreme goal if everything goes well, Hit NL 200 before summer and get my living money out of poker. Hoping that there are enough fish in the sea to do so.

I have been playing since 2002....started when ESPN put poker
on TV....my wife started studying for CPA so I could watch TV by myself
or play poker. Started online but like live better now.

My goal is to study one hour for every hour I play....so this month
that would be 20 hours. I am 5 hours behind for December 2011!!

I watch videos on Poker VT and YouTube. I read Card Player.
The Mental part of Poker is a big hill I am climbing....Jared's book
has been a big help and I am working on that every day now.

Money goal is small....$750 to $1000 per month but in line with the time
and study I put in.

I'm a pro player, or I guess I should say I play for a living. Every year I begin with lofty financial goals, which sometimes I make and sometimes I don't. I've been playing seriously now for eleven years and had my shares of ups and downs. Overall the last 4 years have been the best for me but 2011 seemed to throw me for a loop.

I guess I'm getting burnt out. I make a comfortable living, and did so as well in 2011 but found I was so dissatisfied with it that I began making mistakes. I played in limits higher than i was comfortable with, i forced it when i knew it wasn't my day...etc. Why? Greed is part of it, but more I think lack of recognition.

When your a pro online cash game player it can be a lonely road. You can't really explain it to your parents in cash successes because it just seems like your bragging if your doing well, even though that's how us poker players keep score. You don't get promoted, no boss to pat you on the back etc.

My goal for 2012 is that I need to learn to be satisfied with how I'm doing as opposed to how others are doing or how other perceive me. This career choice is hard enough without self sabotage and the little things that you don't get, aren't nearly as important as the freedoms and benefits you do get when this career works out.

Goals for 2012:

:club: Make my way to 100NL and beat this limit by july.
:club: Withdraw 5000-8000$ and get married!(no, it's not a joke).
:club: Grind again 100NL and be a regular @200NL by the end of the year!
:club: Coaching for free few players @ 2NL-5NL and maybe 10NL if I will be satisfied by my results as a coach. If I will succeed with this I'll start coaching next limits too. This will be another very important thing for me, not only as a poker player.

Mine are relatively simple since I always have an easy time studying things in the game since it doesn't feel like work and I love doing it.

Keep working out at least a couple times a week.
Average at least 5 hrs of playing per day (1825 hrs for the year).
Get 20k saved up for for 200nl.

My goals for 2012 is to up my cash game from micros to low. Also would like to take part in a few live and internet tournaments with buy-ins between 100€-1000€ and play my best game. But I would be happy to end the year 2012 with profit.

Hi,
My long term goal is to become one of the best tournament poker players in Scandinavia. Tough goal, huh? _grin: But my motto is, that if you set your goals low, that is what you're gonna get - no more! I also know that reaching my goal is going to take a lot of time and hard work and that is why I have some minor goals as well. One of the first ones is to be able to take my family to somewhere warm next fall - by reaching my next level in cash games. And of course I would like to win a ticket to my first BIG live event, since I've played only in small ones so far. Finally I'd like to wish everyone A Happy New PokerYear 2012!!!
