Some busy last days..
Had an orientation today for the internship I'm going to next two months.
Yesterday, I've found out that I actually have to buy loads of stuff for that.. like a coat, black briefcase etc. Good that I already have a suit...
On the same time I had to hand in my last essay, so my time bank was running out.. but I made it 30 min before deadline. Well in time as usual.

I also watched the last episodes of Chuck. Someone knows that show? I like it because it's the light-hearted nonsense kinda show which I can just watch relaxed. Just that it ended all sad and emotional with the kind of open end which leaves it to you to make up the future. So it was a crappy ending. I expected some silly over-the-top finish, which would just be fun to watch. It's defo not the show where tragedy fits in...

Anyway enough whining;)

It's also time for a monthly poker update.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

So this is my graph...

I played 39,000 hands. A little short of my planned 40k but I just couldn't find the time y'day _cry:

NL50and NL25 mixed I've got a winrate of 4.1bb/100, however my NL25 WR is much higher than the NL50 one. Also AIEV says I should have make a loss in this month^^

But including RB and stellar bonuses I made about 600$.. not too bad I believe.

Was quite swingy anyway and I know that I made a lot of mistakes, especially at the beginning of the month. With the 2nd half I'm fairly happy though. I can't really evaluate my play yet, coz it changed quite a bit this month... So I just see what February brings.
I'll do a big database review after 50k hands though.. will be interesting what leaks I'm gonna spot

Goals
- 50k hands.. trying to put the volume up step by step
- keep watching tons of videos and keep posting hands

Not much poker last days...

I'm visiting my family right now back home in Switzerland:) So I'm busy snowboarding and eating cheese fondue all day long lol. At the weekend I enjoyed the obligatory aprés-ski and the subsequent ride-in-the-dark back home totally wasted on a snowboard:P But it's like -25C outside.. ridiculous.. the skin becomes numb and frozen...

But I guess I'll have time the coming weekdays to play a little poker. I'm 5000 hands behind track, so I hope I can make that good till the weekend. It's anyway pretty awesome to be in the European Time Zone.. Tables are very good in the evening.. no need to get up at 6am like in Japan.. Wish it would be always like that.. I gotta move back lol.

Tonight I'm gonna play some tourneys.. feel like it atm... Maybe I even make it in the money haha

When to play?

played two sessions this evening.. All in all 3.5 hours which makes 3200 hands.
I wanna play more but I feel kind of exhausted and felt tired at the end of the 2nd session (and definitely now).

I wonder how ppl make 100,000 hands a month?? I even struggle big time with 50,000. Anymore and my brain would explode (or implode?)

I have to find out good times to play while I'm in Europe... a morning session maybe? But obv tables are way better in the evening, so I should try to play then...
But then again I'm here only for a week, so I guess I just play when I don't have sth else going on. I just don't wanna get too much behind my 50000 hand pace

Anyway it's time to chill... :f_cool:

(Hip Hop in Rumantsch.. not sure if anybody has heard of this language...)

Am I spewing around?

Today the following two hands happened shortly one after another. The player was the same guy both times.
He runs a 20/17 in my database over 350 hands. 3bets 7%, folds to 4bets 50% (3/6) and is in general super aggressive (+he's from Spain^^). I don't have too many hands on him though. unfortunately.

Hand 1

PokerStars - $0.50 NL (9 max) - Holdem - 4 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

UTG: $43.11
BTN: $50.00
Hero (SB): $50.00
BB: $50.00

Hero posts SB $0.25, BB posts BB $0.50

A new table got started and he sits on my left _mad:

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero has J♣ A♥

fold, fold, Hero raises to $1.50, BB raises to $4.50

I got AJo in the SB and raise it for sure.. the 3bet comes more or less expected.
What to do now?
I decide to 4bet and to call a shove. I assume that villain is totally capable of 5bet shoving as a bluff. So I would call any 5bet. The problem is just that I'm assuming... I can't recall having him seen bluff shoving, and obv stats don't say anything after 350 hands when it comes to 5bets.

So what do you think? Is 4bet/calling spewy here?? Is calling better?
I was 4betting here to actually induce a 5betbluff by him.. do I need more hands on him to do that? Would you prefer other hands than AJo? I guess my standard line would be just calling, if it wouldn't be this player

Hero raises to $12.00, fold

Anyway he folds and this brings us to the next hand, which actually just happened 2 hands later...

PokerStars - $0.50 NL (9 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

SB: $51.75
BB: $50.00
UTG: $50.00
Hero (CO): $54.50
BTN: $50.00

SB posts SB $0.25, BB posts BB $0.50

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero has J♥ A♦

fold, Hero raises to $1.25, BTN raises to $3.75, fold, fold, Hero raises to $12.00, BTN raises to $50.00 and is all-in,

Same hand, same villain, same story. This time he shoves. I call because of the reasons I stated above plus now I think he's even more likely to just 5bet bluff since I'm 4betting him 2 times in a row..

What do you think?? Player dynamics or just spewy?
It's definitely not my standard play, so I was just wondering if a 4bet/call can be justified here with AJo given my reasoning. I'd like to get a neutral perspective on it as well, so I'm happy about every opinion I can get!!
I want to post it in the strategy forum, but my status is not enough for the NL50 forums :f_cry:, so I hope I can get some answers here.

Cheers,

Weekly update

Since Pokerstars screwed their update and my fixed bet amounts from TableNinja don't work anymore I figured I can quite as well write an update instead of keeping minbetting every third hand-.-

My (poker) week was freaking insanely awesome!!

just that you know..

I ran like a firefly on speed or something!!

First it started off with my biggest tournament win EVER!!
It was kinda funny, since I haven't played a tourney for half a year and exactly now I became runner up lol. Seems all the time I spent on SNGs and MTTs a few years back payed out...

Here's the graf.. essentially for the purpose of bragging my ass off.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Then I also played cash game. Around 12,000 hands played. It should be 16,000 by now if I want to safely achieve my 50,000 hands. One day more in February is still not enough-.-

My results?? let the graf speak once again:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Which sums my week up in the first 1k$ week ever!!

I like it..

My weekend I'm gonna spend something like this I guess:

Sorry for the bragging, but successes have to be celebrated to be remembered in bad times;)

Played almost nothing for one week now.

I was drinking, then being hung over, then flying around the world, then suffering from jet lag and eventually even working. I know I shouldn't work. My bad.

I don't think I still make 50,000 hands, so I'm lacking a goal for the rest of the month. I guess I'll just grind away and see where I end up.. that is if the transfer of my PT database takes less than 12 days. It's gonna be close

Has been a while since I posted the last time.

I worked 3 times last week for my internship, which has its up and downswings I guess:) Its at an organization who organizes conferences, so mostly I do stuff like filing in papers for hours, cleaning up behind participants and pretending to be busy. It's the kind of job which makes me looking for alternatives to getting a job...
Well, at least I was entrusted with the powerful role of time keeper the last conference. Armed with a stop watch and a bell I was in the position to ring my bell at academics and politicians and effectively tell them to..well.. shut up. This created quite a few highly satisfying moments.

But I've been also playing poker a bit here and there. My new goal is to play 45 hours this month, right now I'm at 35.. If I achieve that I'd have played more than last month, so that would at least be some success, however little:)
I also like my play the last couple of days, it seems that I finally could develop some reads (or more accurately, my HUD could develop some reliable stats) on NL50 players. This really helps a lot. So now, after coloring most of my fierce enemies, I'm taking notes of 3 bet sizes etc etc. The next step will then be to actually start reading notes while playing.

played 3 hours today.. nice!
So that's 5 hours left for the last 2 days of the month. I think I'll make it, nothing to do the next days anyway:)

Was quite a rough day. Ended 50bb in plus after I was temporarily down for 4BI. A day of sucking out and being sucked out. That's how poker makes fun..

I figured out I should start posting hands here... Maybe just difficult, funny or bad played hands.. not too much strat I guess. There are other forums for that.

So I guess I get started..

This hand made me the biggest head ache today..
We had quite an aggressive history today. He 3bettet me a ton, and I 4bet bluffed him twice already that session..
So I played every street for value, expecting him to call the 4 bet (or even stack off somewhat wider than usual). OTR I thought he calls here with JJ or is in general bluff catching a lot. Very marginal, but the R check seemed so weak, that I wanted to bet for thin value..

February Wrap up

Great! February is soon to be finished. It was quite the plague with that day more this year. I really hate this month.. cold, grey, boring.. did I mention cold?? I was freezing my ass off either outside when in Switzerland with temperatures of -25C:f_mad: or inside my apartment in Japan due to lack of proper isolation and radiators. When we drink wine, the glasses become all foggy because of the "heat" of our breath compared with the room temperature.

So I'm looking forward to March. Cherry blossoms, football, sunshine before 10am and the room temperature above 5C. Sounds good me. Even better, the whole month is still part of my spring break, so except on a few working days I'm free and unleashed.

I also realized recently while riding my bicycle uphill towards the station that my fitness was sacrificed to the cold winter and laziness.
So I wanna run 200km in March. Obv. not all in one day.. I give myself 4 days time.

No, not really. If I can run 10km on 20 different days that would be a good start. So I'll post my progress on here to put some pressure on me.

Poker?

Oh yes, there was that thing called poker.

I played 39'707 hands this month, so 700 more than last month _biggrin:
Insane achievement IMO. So I failed to play 50k hands..

So let the dear Graf speak:

It worries me that my EV line is basically break even for the 2nd month in a row. So I'm just running massively over EV, and way more than I have ever before. I also don't know why I'm running break even. I worked on my play more than ever this year and I feel more and more comfortable everyday. So it seems that I have improved, but my results say something different.

Also, I really like the red line in the first part of the month, afterwards it just crashes and goes down, like it always used to. I also compared my NL25 to NL50 results and while the EV line is about the same, the red line in NL25 is better and only slightly under 0.

I still wonder how much is variance and how much is my play. I hope I can figure it out next month. All I know is that I feel good recently when I play and that I'll defo study more.

In numbers, I played 4.8bb/100 ( 6bb/100 at NL25, 4bb/100 at NL50).
That's some 760$. Plus rake and tourney wins I land somewhere above 1k$. I'm really happy with the results, I'm just worried whether its sustainable or not. As of now, my EV line says NO!!

Goals for March

- 50k hands (I know.. again.. but this time I try harder)
- running 200km
