Villain´s stats u can see in the commentary if u click on the link (there is BB 3b I thought he was on BB, so thats quite useless). OTF I don´t like folding because this flop doesn´t hit him at all, so my plan was to call and somehow outplay villain on later streets. When I hit my A, I didn´t need to bluff him out anymore, so I just called it down. If he checked OTR I would bet 1/2 myself. One more important thing is, that villain doesn´t cbet OTT (he´s never done it so far), but that´s in normal pots, in 3b ones it might differ.

Situation - 3b IP and miss flop
Got two examples of this where I 3bet IP and don't hit much on flop. Plan in these hands for me is usually to just check back OTF with intention of giving up most of the time if villain bets turn (unless we improve). But if villain checks turn, I bet small (33%) OTT and barrel pretty much any river a bit larger (60%).

Reason for the sizing is that his range is super weak OTT after checking twice. So if we had a value hand we would usually bet small to get value from that weak range and with air we can do the same. If he folds to the small bet, great. If he calls the small bet, his range is still very weak and a bigger bet OTR will take it down very often. Of course I don't do this on every single runout, do have to consider the villain and the board but the vast majority of the time it simply seems to work.

Just wanted to know your opinion on this thought process

Oh I didn't realize this was about preflop, sorry :f_eek::f_ugly:

In that case a general question I have for tonight is what you think about a very 3bet-heavy preflop strategy at micro stakes.

Personally I don't really call open raises preflop very often except in the BB and would rather 3bet a ton and either:
- Play a bigger pot IP with a postflop edge
- Play OOP but with iniative against a relatively weak range (when 3betting from blinds vs BTN)

I don't really have much of a flatting range except in the BB. SB I will also have some sort of flatting range against UTG/MP because their ranges are a bit stronger and 3betting wide against them OOP seems like a bad idea. Those are the only positions where I have a relatively 'wide' flatting range, in other positions it's pretty much just some PPs.

I often hear people say that this (3betting a lot and not flatting much) is generally not a good approach especially at the lowest stakes. For me it seems to be fairly effective so far over a small sample at the Zoom tables, although I do think you need to have at least a solid idea of what to do postflop. If you just start 3betting a lot without a postflop plan, I don't think it will work no matter what.
