I'm asking because it's highly unlikely to grind 400nl with 35+ buy-ins after 2 months with such a small starting bankroll so I'm curious what kind of brm does he use.
Hi guys,
I tried some zoom poker, which went well. Also mixing with 400nl. I'm up about 2k this weekend, but unfortunately cant post a graph, cuz my HM dont run at zoom tables. I have to buy HM2.
Are we allowed to know your identity, to check it out?. r u isildur1 mach2 per chance?
No sorry. For now I want to keep that for myself first for security reasons and second for superstition ![]()

5b pre is to let him shove his AQ+ 88+ or play a 5b pot keeping his 4b bluffing range.
Postflop is obvious. I bet flop close to 100% and villain will float almost awlays with his Ax and pure air. Turn and river are standard

How I feel playing from micros to small stakes. How I played and crushing it for such a short time, but honestly i'm too lazy to do that. Prob I'll do it tho, like a thank you for your support from the last couple of months.
hi,
i read all your story and it's really sick
i am now also unemployed and i wish to make a profit like u in a few months ![]()
i just started myself playing NL2 SH and in the next week i want to shoot NL5 and my question is: can you upload your graphs from NL2 and NL5? i know that u put NL5 graph few pages ago but without 'non showdown winnings' line; i am really curious how it look on your graph, because mine is really bad - like 33% on my total winning is lost because of that red line ![]()
thanks and gl on the tables
Don't worry about your non showdown line. Look at your green line, the red one doesn't matter at micros. Mine is also bad.
Hi all you poker warriors ![]()
I came by to show you some "info" about micros as promised. It's too long I know, but still hope some of you will read it. If not, doesnt mine
Here is a graph for those who are interested: Graph
tl;dr guide to crush the micros.
This guide is to help you to crush micros (< nl100)
What hand should be play?
Ok, now, there is not such thing like an standard opening hand, you should adjust according who is on the BB or SB or BB etc. I’ll try to give you something just like an example:
UTG- Some say the hardest position to play, for me is the easiest position to play, only because almost always we’re going to be OOP and play fit or fold. Simple as that.
22+, ATs+, AJ+, KJs+, KQo (11.3%)
See that there are no suited connectors and Axs. At the higher limits you should play this hands utg, but only because to balance your range and because players are going to play wider ranges. You don’t have to balance your range at micros.
Do not play hands worst than ATs. That is because often we’ll be dominated from hands like AJ. It’s hard to flop a draw with AT and it’s going to be OOP. Just don’t do it.
How to react against a 3b?
1. 4b KK+ for value
2. 2. 4b QQ+ AK to have an agro image at the table. Most of the times villains will fold and going on tilt, cuz fishes don’t like to fold. Even if they 5b ship and we have to call just see that we are against AA don’t take it to hard. Make a note and you this info to take your money back.
3. Fold everything else, unless you are pretty deep and have to pay good price to see the flop. Even then be a lot careful.
Middle position (MP)
It looks like UTG, just a few differences:
1. Sometimes we have position over utg
2. 10% less chance to be OOP
Play hand like 22+, AT+, JTs+, KJ+ (13.7%)
Limpers
At this position sometimes you’re going to play against limpers. If the limper has +65bb iso him with all your range. If he has less than 65bb iso with that hand which will be comfortable to play all in.
If UTG open, 3b JJ+ AK+. If he 4bs you, fold the jacks. That doesn’t mean you we shouldn’t 3b them. Most of the time villain wont 4b and you’re going to be IP against him and prob with better hand.
SC- Fold! Don’t play suited connectors! How often you’re going to flop OE or FD? You will remember the times when you flop the nuts and cracked his AA, but way often you’re going to lose money.
How to react against 3b? Same as UTG
Cutoff (CO)
I hate this position. It’s true, about 35% of our hands are going to be IP and we’ll steel a lot. However, it is very important to know what kind of players are on the bu and blinds. If they are aggressive, just leave the table. Don’t level yourself and start calling their 3bets just because you’re IP. Leave the table and find a better spot.
Call the 3bets only if you’re not a donk ( like 90% of players at these limits) and you’re ready to play hyper agro your hand postflop. I’ll talk about this later. Till now, just leave the table.
Limpers
Iso with all your range! Never, never, never, NEVER overlimp! In fact add some hands to your “standard’ range. All Ax, some Kxs, SC etc
Add all pps because:
1. we don’t want the players behind us to raise and give us bad price to call- something which you’re asking limping behind
2. we want to build up the pot and play big pot against fish
How to react against 3b?
Here is kinda sh***y. BU/CO are very dynamic positions and I could write about them 100 pages
Sometimes is good to 4b players with high 3b%, other times is better to fold. At the beginning start to 4b QQ+ AK. Then add some bluffs. Hands like Axs Kxs Qxs are pretty good for 4b bluff cuz they have blockers. But without a good read don’t do it! Step by step adjust against players behind you. 4 bet for value and fold everything else. Don’t be a hero, nowbody cares! If you’re 170bb deep, then you could call some hands.
BU
Open like 60% of your hands. If blinds are stupid nits, open ATC, if they are maniacs, squeeze your range a bit.
If someone opens befor you, then play the player. Play the hands with not bad EV, 3b hands which have a ton of EV or pretty tiny EV. What is that mean. Let’s say MP opens and le have A6s- not so good hand to call, but if villain fold a lot to 3b then we should 3bet it. What if we have KQs? Often we don’t want to 3b it, cuz we have a good EV and we don’t want villain to 4b us and we have to fold. 3b hands which have a lot of value and these which have small and we don’t care if we have to fold them after 4b.
SB and BB
Do not auto play. DO not just click butons! Think a lot from these positions and play the player. Look at his stats pre if he fold to 3b do it. If he cb a ton but give up ott call and stell postflop. If he cb low % you know what to do it. Think everytime when your on SB or BB. Don’t look at your hand and see J6o and auto muck. Pretty often ur hand doesn’t matter at the blinds. One more time, play the player!
Balanced range
Merged range is something like KK AA AKs. Well, if a player has this range we will rob him. It’s pretty easy to play against this type of player, right?
Merge range- AA KK QQ
Balanced range- AA KK 56s 97s 57s- 50% value 50% bluff
In theory is harder to play against balanced range. But why we should care about this at micros? It’s pretty simple. Villains most of the times will call our 3b without the right odds, so we’re 3beting for value. Second, to have a good idea about player tendencies we should have at least 2k hands on him. At micros we won’t have this much hands. (if we’re winning player tho)
What the lines means?
Donkbet
Usually that means weak made hand or a draw. If the flop is Q75r and we have AQ-just call. If the flop is QT5 with fd then we have to raise to take value from draws. Same as we have overpair on Dry board
Minbet
Usually that means weakness. If want to check back then just call, if you wanted to cb big the raise.
Check-call
This depend on the player. If he is a passive calling station this means “hey, I have any two cards” and we have no idea where are we. If villain is a bit agro, usually that means a drawing hand. If a maniac x/c that means that he has a monster and Ill be happy to fold ott f I don’t hit something huge.
Unexpected check
You’ll see this a lot at micros. Players here just clicking buttons and have no idea about lines and ranges. Most of the times this means that they bluff till now and give up when they check. Most of the times is good to bet and take the hand.
Another scenario is when the hit a TP otf lets say the have AT and the flop is T62. King shows on the turn and they are scared. That doesn’t mean they are ready to fold immediately, but keep this is in mind.
Be careful if an agrresive player checks. This is pretty weird. Often they’ll have monster and want to trap us.
Bet/Check/Bet
These are my favorites That’s almost always a bluff or a hand with weak showdown value. Just raise the river if you think they have you beat.
On the other hand sometimes villain will bet his air on the flop, turn gives them a draw and they check back. If they hit the river they will bet, if they don’t hit they will bet too, so think about the board and you’ll se what to do.
How to play winning poker at micros?
Im sure you know the recipe. “Value bet, don’t bluff, ????, profit”
We win thanks to the fishes!
Poker is like the chess or bridge. It is a game of knowledge. It’s pretty important to understand- we don’t play to make money! We play to make less mistakes than others! Sure in short term money is the reason, but not in long term. The money will come be their self . So if you decided to take poker seriously and want to play “long term poker”, but the crack your AA with his T5o and take your buy in, don’t tilt. It’s not a software fault, it’s not your neighbor fault, it’s not a Russian conspiracy. That is the plan. And as long as we follow the plan everything is going to be fine. We know sometimes we are going to lose. If we make less mistakes than the others- then we will make money.
The micro players, these we call fishes, are almost always going to make mistakes. There is no need to take some strange lines against them or play tricky. Just do the right things, like bet if you flop trips and they will continue to make wrong plays, such as calling ¾ pot bet with the hope to hit their 2 outs.
In really, the fishes have one advantage against you- they are unpredictable! Most of their decisions have no logic at all. You cannot overplay them when you are not playing the same way. Just make fewer mistakes than them.
Value: Holy Grail
Value bet is a kind of bet which will lead villain to call us with weaker hand than ours. Or I should say it in this way. This is a bet which is going to be called by a big number of hands worst than our hand. Sure, sometimes it could be called by a better hands but until there are more worst hands to call you than better- that’s a value bet.
If you have JJ on a Ahjh4 board, just bet There are a ton of weaker hands which will call you. If a 6h hits the turn don’t freeze and start saying the F word. There are still a ton of hands which you beat to call you with. Fishes almost never fold a pair or some kind of a draw. They are hapy to call you 90% bet when they have 4 outs.
Remember- you are not on High Stakes Poker and you’re not Phil Ivey!
Don’t try to play like the tv “stars”. This plays do not work at micros. It’s hard to represent a scary hand which may hit our range. This means nothing to the fish. He doesn’t care. If he have 3 pair, he will call you. Just don’t bluff! If you sometimes saying “How the hell does he called me with that junk?” or “OMG, you stupid moron, you shoulded folded” you know what I mean. You could solve this problem just by stop doing it, NEVER.
-don’t bluff
-don’t slowplay
Slowplay? Never!
Well, I should say 99% of the times never. If you flop quads it’s hard for villain to hit that flop too. But other than that don’t!
Example:
CO: $31.65 Hero (SB): $51.15
Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is SB with T
T
4 folds, CO raises to $1, Hero calls $0.90
Flop: ($2.25) 6
4
T
(2 players)
We flopped a set. Cool, but no one is going to pay us if we bet. We decided to play like Tom Dwan and check back. We will stack him later.
Hero checks, CO checks
Well he doesn’t bet. Damm it, not a big deal, we’ll stack him ott.
Turn: ($2.25) 5
We decded to bat small and hope he’ll pay us..
Hero bets $0.50, CO calls $0.50
Ohhh dude, I got you!
River: ($3.25) 7
This is the last street, so we bet again and hope he’ll call us again.
Hero bets $1, CO raises to $4.50
Dude, wtf? What should I do, I have a top set but the straight and flush just came. Damm it, is he bluffing, does he have it?
But when we bet flops like this, they always fold. You’re sayng this like is something bad. If we bet our top set and villain fold that’s means he had nothing and we still aren’t going to take value from him most of the times.
Example:
CO: $25.60 Hero (BB): $27.05
Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is BB with A
A
4 folds, CO raises to $1, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.75
Cool AA. We are just gonna to call cuz we don’t wanna make him fold.
Flop: ($2.10) A
K
8
(2 players)
From good to better, top set againg. Let’s check and let him bet.
Hero checks, CO bets $1, Hero calls $1
Turn: ($4.10) T
He has something weak, let’s bet small, don’t scare him away. Prob he has a K
Hero bets $1.50, CO calls $1.50
Cool!
River: ($7.10) 6
Hero bets $2.50, CO calls $2.50
Final Pot: $12.10
Hero shows A
A
CO mucks 8
8
WTF!!! He has a set too? What the hell, we shoulded stack him. That T on the turn scared him. Fck it. That turn killed our action. We won the minimum instead hi’s all stack.
Some other thought, prob I’ll repead something:
1. If a passive fish bets or raise strong give up without a pretty good hand.
2. Don’t bluff the fish!
3. Don’t try to overplay the fish
4. Know against what type of player your playing with.
5. Fold more! Often we will say “Well this flop doesn’t hit villains range, blab la bla” NO, JUST FOLD!
6. No body care about you. If they bet, they have it. If you think there is a small chance that this fish steals from you- fold! We will stack him later. People we steal from you and bluff you sometimes, get us to it.
7. Seriously, fold more
Try to learn new thing
1. try to read some books (it’s boring, I know)
2. Talk about hands with ur friends
3. Analyse ur game after every session! Seriously, do it. It’s boring to, but if you want to make money, that’s the best way. Thing about every hand.
Something a bit deeper about 3 betting
Some history
For laziness
- everyone is 3betting merged range
- everyone understand that and started to 4bet and know it sucks to fold JJ after a 3bet
- everyone stop to 3b unless they had AA or KK
- smart guys started to 3bet nits, cuz nits are morons
- then the nits became not so much morons and started to 4 bet lighter.
- Then the smart guys invented polarization
Why is cool to 3b?
1. often players will fold OOP
2. some will call pre, but check/fold otf
Polzarized and merged range
For lazy guys
- against a villain who wont call us the 3b, but will 4b or fold- 3bet him
- against a villain who is going to call our 3b- use a merge range
If someone notice that we 3b wide, he’ll adjust. It sucks to call 3b OOP, most players will 4b light.
So, we will adjust to their 4b by polarizing our 3bet. If we have a hand which is not good enough to call an open raise and it’s not good to play all in, then we will take this hand which we thought about folding (0 EV) and 3bet it (add EV). Like this we 3b strong stackoff range who is going to dominate villain 4b range and fold our air. With our air we are happy to fold, because we know that the villain made a mistake.
What kind of mistake villain made?
Some might say who the hell villain makes a mistake 4beting his AQs while we have KJs? Just because our range crushed his or we have air. So our opponent makes a mistake and kames a –EV choice. Look at this example, let’s say we 3b АА,КК,АК,J2s-J6s,Q2s-Q6s,K2s-K6s, this means we have:
-4.5% bluff
-2.1% nuts
We are going to fold ¾ of times when villain dominate us, but we makes something which have 0 EV to something with +EV. For that reason we don’t 3b hand which have a +EV just to call.
Here is just a example of 3b bluff range:
- hands which have blockers for flating 3b (Qx, Jx, etc)
- they are suited, just in case
- are easy to remember and easy to calculate value to bluff ratio
- have not enough +ev caling value
When to check/raise the river?
A lot of people don’t like to miss value so the hate to check river. But if you observe the top 50 and above players the c/r river a lot.
Inexperienced players think that this line is bluff or monster, but they’re not exactly right.
If I want to x/r turn with the nuts or close to nuts, but the villain check behind, it’s almost always better to check the river also. Once villain bet or call the flop, but check the turn, he has a hand with some showdown value or pure air. Since we check the river and showed no strength, he may try to bluff with his air hands or try to get a thin value with his weaker hands (like TPNK or middle pair).
The turn: check raise or barrel?
Often we will be in a situation like this and we wont know what to do.
So, we CB the flop, the turns come and we don’t know what to do. x/c,x/r, bet? Once we Cb flop, we have to bet or x/c the turn 95% of the time when we want to continue with our hand. (bluff cather, value hand, semi bluff etc)
Check raise the turn is a great weapon, but remember DON’T DO IT BELOW 50NL! Once we check the turn we give the initiative to the villain and he may check back. More often bet the turn is better than x/r so just bet.
We don’t want to make a big pots OOP when we don’t have a good hand and our opponents know that.
When is good to bet the turn with small EV?
Example:
BB: $164.45 (164.5 bb)
Hero (SB): $163.80 (163.8 bb)
Preflop: Hero is SB with T
7
Hero raises to $3, BB calls $2
Flop: ($6) 5
J
3
BB checks, Hero bets $4, BB calls $4
Turn: ($14) 8
BB checks, Hero bets $10, BB folds
Example:
SB: $36.50 (36.5 bb)
BB: $40.75 (40.8 bb)
Hero (UTG): $103.35 (103.4 bb)
MP: $105 (105 bb)
CO: $107 (107 bb)
BTN: $110.05 (110.1 bb)
Preflop: Hero is UTG with J
K
Hero raises to $3, MP folds, CO calls $3, 2 folds, BB calls $2
Flop: ($9.50) 9
3
3
BB checks, Hero bets $6, CO calls $6, BB folds
Turn: ($21.50) T
Hero bets $14, CO calls $14
River: ($49.50) 4
Hero bets $32, CO folds
The math behind these scenarios is pretty simple. Let’s say we have a draw (4 outs or better). Let’s assume the villain will call or fold, he wont raise us. Let’s see the calculation and see why is good to bet these spots.
We have to calculate our turn EV with our gutshot. To make thing a bit simple, let’s make few assumptions:
- we CB the flop and now thinking about turn barrel;
- the pot is $10;
- the turn bet is going to be $8;
- The villain will call us 50% of time ($24) bet when we hit and 50% will fold;
Here is the equation:
0=10х + (0.90)(1-х)(-8) + (0.10)(0.50)(1-х)(8+10) + (0.10)(0.50)(1-х)(8+10+24)
Find х ....
х~~ 0.2957
Villain has to fold only 29% of the time to be breakeven!
With a stupid 4 outer we need just 30% fold equity to make money. This is printing money against a passive player and believe me there are a ton of passive player at these limits. Do not do it against maniacs, who raise a lot! We won’t have the right odds to call them most of the time.
Conclusion
If you do all that, you’ll kill the micros! Remember, do not play KTo from UTG, just because you haven’t play few hands and it starting to gets boring.
If you take poker as a hobby or for something for fun, why the hell you read all that? You morons
If you play take poker as a profession and want to make money, but think you do all that and still cant beat micros, than you’re a moron. You just think you do it, but I don’t. Stop clicking buttons and star thinking about every hand. If you are a moron, stop playing 4 zoom tables at auto pilot just to be a break even. Open 2 normal tables or 1 zoom and START THINING!
Good luck to all of you, I hope you crush!
Is this love I see before me?!
Nope, just someone willing to shine a light in the dark and say it like it is.
Hope you will stay around for a while and impart some more of that wisdom!
Very best regards and what an inspirationally awesome job. ♠_cool:

Nice post. I'm glad to see there are no SCs in micros opening range; the rake is way to high.
Just a quick question re your graph here:

I can post only hyperlinks due to my status.I'm thinking to stop updating, dont see any point to continue. I have few more days till the end of the month, but still I did what I wanted to do a long time ago.
I want to write something about moving up and some things about today's GTO.
How I feel playing from micros to small stakes. How I played and crushing it for such a short time, but honestly i'm too lazy to do that. Prob I'll do it tho, like a thank you for your support from the last couple of months.
What was your br at that point? Because in two months you've gone from $110 to being able to lose $9k at nl500 and still rolled for the limit?
