Final table of a soft casino tourney, 3 handed

Payout structure £350,£220,£140
adjusted £210, £80 = 70% 30%

BTN 15 BB (Hero)
SB 11 BB
BB 25 BB

Ante = 10-15% BB

I min-raise from button with K8o, SB shoves.

Do I call or wait for a better spot?

Notes:

SB is an aggro player whom I regard capable of making moves. I have been quite aggressive the past hand (6-7 hands), shoving on him from SB and min-raising from button.

Chipleader is an ok player but has leaks on his sb/bb game and I feel that if bust the other player then I will have a big edge HU.

While I was playing I calculated my odd as 1:1.5

However, they were 1:1.7
I have to put 9 BB to win 15.5BB = 2(my bet)+11(SB shove) +2.5(BB + antes)

Without considering bubble factor I need 37% equity to BE.
I calculated the BF to be 1.7, therefore accounting for BF I need 50% equity

In play I estimated it to be 1.5, therefore I would need 50% to call ( lol;p I deduced the correct % with wrong numbers;p)

I put him on wide range here, not extremely wide though. Maybe 30%?

Using equilab, K8 has 40% equity against a 30% range

To get 50% equity SB must be pushing 55% of his hands, which is unlikely (33+,A2s+,K2s+,Q2s+,J3s+,T5s+,95s+,85s+,75s+,65s,A2o+,K4o+,Q6o+,J7o+,T7o+,97o+,87o)

Even though I knew calling was -$ev, I decided to call mostly because of the big edge I would have on the BB heads-up and in some extent folding would damage my strong image.

What do you think about this hand?

Also, do you guys agree with my thinking in-game and the thinking/calculations i posted now ?

Hi all,

It seems like the calculations you made appear roughly correct. Intuitively, I would be folding here because I'm not opening a very wide range to start with given the dynamics you have listed, and as a result of that I will be able to call off his shove with a very wide range. Also, I feel even with such short stacks we can find better spots because even if we blind down to 10bb our opponents will play very poorly in the PoF stage.

Thanks for the advice. What range would you be opening from the BTN? How often would you min-raise from the btn (when you raise)?

It's highly player dependent! My minraising range could vary from between AA-KK (or absolutely nothing, and openpushing everything!) all the way to ATC depending on how often I thought they folded. They don't have to fold too often for ATC to be the best range!

BTW if you have questions about the hand, please re-open the thread in future.
