Some reflecting on challenge so far and things to expect in the future!
Things that I will most likely fail:
- Live CG grind
- Work outs
Live CG is a huge problem. 5 out of 7 days there is some sort of game happening and even there tables are not 6 max. Usually on "dead" days from Monday to Thursday I have to sit in with maximum 3 other fellow regs start playing and wait for some recreational to join us. This is of course huge minus EV for me to play cause 4 handed vs regs is just pointless with all the 3 and 4 bet dynamics. One of the days like that I lost 400 euros or 2 buy ins simply because there was some sick shopping by them and then the game ended (you can't get your money back - they tighten up, don't play a hand for 1 hour and then cash out!).
So I will most likely be grinding way less hours CG, say 4 days per week x 5 hours = 20 hours per week!
Good news is that remaining of the free time I can use for various other activities such as: more studying/working on the game, more grinding, more coaching, talking to my family best friend and my girls, just relax and watch some favorite tv shows, do additional work outs etc
When I was coming here idea was to play 6 out of 7 days per week 5 hours a day. This is how I set my goal for live CG grind. Despite the fact that I want to do this, in reality it is not possible because games usually happen Thursday through Monday - Tuesday and Wednesday is dead, Monday and Sunday are sometimes dead and slow.
Another very important thing that I want to mention is my time management. I don't want to jeopardize my sleep, working on the game, coaching, grinding online and instead stay and play CG until 5am or so! No way, I will never do this. I use poker software on my phone where I clock in 5 hours from 9 to 3am approximately and then when 5 hours run out I immediately cash out because I respect my body and system way too much to brake the rules and stay additional hours!
Final thing about live CG - some new grinders might be coming in the near future so there may be games every day here after all. Again there is no point playing with 5 regs (4 Serbian CG regs + 1 Greek reg) and then wait for 1 or 2 recreational player(s) on "dead" days to get payed off. Long term I always prefer online to live game, I see way more potential to make 100k+ a year online so there is really no need to play whole night 150 hands per night in 5 hours when in that time I can grind online 2500 hands on Zoom!
Work outs. I will most likely fail the goal simply because I couldn't work out steady while I am sick for 1 week. My whole immune system is down, I am sweating whole day long, my energy levels are all over the place, I feel dizzy during the day numerous times, when I grind online sometimes cards overlap in my eyes on laptop etc
With all this happening I simply cannot do strong work outs like I plan to do and not even that but even light work outs are problematic because of coughing, breathing problems and energy level problems!
With all this is mind it is unrealistic that I will make up the work outs by the end of 30 days here in Gevgelija but I will not give up and try to work out both early morning (in the room) and afternoon (swimming + gym) to make it up!
Things that I will likely complete:
- Online CG grind
- Studying CG/working on my game
- Coaching 30 sessions
- Eating healthy and drinking tons of water
- Read Robin Sharma's book "The Leader Who Had No Tittle" 90 pages
Since I plan to take additional days off due to lack of live CG, I will have additional hours to do all these great things. I am primarily very happy about my online CG grind 5 hours per day which is awesome considering the health problems past week.
Coaching will be made up on days that I will skip on live CG, do 2 instead of 1 session that day. Eating healthy and drinking tons of water is no problem as it is automatic system for me already set in place. Reading Robin Sharma's book 90 pages will happen on off live CG days where I plan to spend 2-3 hours each of those days reading the book and in next 19 days that should be made up.
Finally plan to use any extra time to work on my game and improve.
I am still considering if I should extend my stay here for 1 more month. If I do that I will still keep grinding online CG + live CG. But on the other hand if I go back home, maintain this type of time management, I can use 8-9pm until 2am or 3am to grind online SNGs to print even more money (grind 300 hours potentially per month and make easily over 6k per month post RB).
It is all out in the open as this year is all about 4 things for me:
- My brother becoming poker/SNG pro and making a steady living
- Me improving in CG to the point of total switch from SNGs by the end of 2015
- Making minimum 40k post RB no matter what it takes (to pay off one apartment mortgage)
- My students becoming poker pros and independent in 2016
