AJo valuebet tp on river?

I definitely valuebet the river there. Bet small, hopping to be called by a pair of some sort.

I think I would also bet turn. As played river is a clear value bet.

general the players are pretty straight forward at those stakes and just lead for value on river, especially when it gets check at turn.
also ak isnt that likely just by the action and twopair i guess will always lead

I like betting on river.

I'm wondering what was your line of thought that made you check that foxy ace. No malice included tho, surprisingly you focused on the river in lieu of turn passiveness.

I would have bet the turn. Not sure why you checked. But yes, the way you played it you should bet the river.

Both checking and betting turn are fine options. It is a matter of balance. If you fire this turn and everything better, then the turn check-back range becomes too weak, and you'll have other problems (in other pots with other opponents).

It is NL2. No need to worry about checkback ranges. Just start value betting untill ur oponent tells u otherwise.

I agree, but why not have sound ranges from the outset? I don't think the EV differs significantly enough between the plays to make either play mandatory. Besides, discussing hands using the assumption that opponents are brain-dead luck-boxes isn't fun:)

the point is that you probably have 1 street left of value from turn and whether you choose to bet on the turn or on the river is your choice. I normally prefer the river because if he doesn't have an ace, the ace will often scare him. by checking the river bet can look like a bluff. and he can call with a wider range.

I agree but we should start building our sound game from the lower limits where mistakes are cheaper.

that's part of my reasoning as well. i see a couple of advantages to having that one valuebet on the river:

1) as thazar pointed out, villain might call a wider range of hands on the river thinking that I'm trying to bluff him off his hand
2) a turnbet could scare away some hands that he might try to bluffbet the river with, seeing my turn checkbehind as weakness
3) if he has me beat on the turn or gets lucky on the river, he might donk the river. by checking the turn behind, I pre-emptively control the pot size and thus lose less against the top of his range while still being able to get my one street of value (should he check the river to me)
