Week 10
hands: 0 ; 165 tourney
profit: $ -48
starting BR : 99.74
current BR: 592
goal: 1k

not much changed, I can happily pronounce that i can finally deal with tilt, I care just about EV line.

okay I will post a graph since everyone loves graphs, don't judge me because of small sample. It's the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen.
this my 5e 2 tables Cev graph, it all most 5 days work to get this huge volume !

I might not to keep this EV ( I am sure that I wouldn't) , but I can definitely say that my game is so much better, It's almost impossible to autopilot with 2 tables.

Was it Tim who told you that the different between the stakes is just 10 chips? I thought (and was told the same by Islosss) that the difference is 20-30 chips.

The €10 field will continue being tough unless iPoker adds the €20 Twister to compensate for the removal of 6-12-man jackpots.

Playing €10s might still make sense due to the higher €/game profit.

no he did not I assume that it should be ~20-30 as you said, but cause of 20 introduction (not sure if for sure, but i heard rumors), i think more tough players will up there, and probably -10 EV chips should be achievable.

tommorow I am packing my toys from coral to gala, I excpect a litlle bit higher RB % because of RPV system my deposit should be counted as a new source of income, and obv FDB. Can feel that 2016 will be strong !

Also at 2016 I have a real possibility to get promoted to the Director of Marketing, so fingers crossed for both life and poker goals.

No, it doesn't work this way. You have to actually stake and lose your deposit for it to count... roughly, lifetime RPV ~ 0.5 * <tourney fees> + 0.5 * <peak lifetime net loss> (delayed for a few months at times - i.e. SBR for a single losing session gradually arrives over the course of a few months as the winners of that money are slowly converting it into rake), but Twister is treated like a €6.70+0.70 SnG (the €2.60 jackpot component is ignored), so the 'loss' is calculated as €7.40 * <no. of games> - €20.10 * <no. of wins> regardless of the prize pool multiplier.

For Twister play, RPV is by 35-40% smaller than the total tourney fee (in the first few months of play at a new skin), and that's due to the slight boost delivered by an initial downswing (in terms of the # of wins, not money) if it happens. With time, it must converge to a value by 45-50% smaller than the total fee, though.

Good evening !

it's been a while since last update. I took a short 'brake' I did not grinded up my 'huge' volume, but it will be fixed next week.
Week 12
hands: 0 ; 21 tourney
profit: $ -2
starting BR : 99.74
current BR: 590
goal: 1k
I excluded what I paid for a coaching, and amount which I left in my skrill account. And i will think of excluding a RB from a challenge, this will show a bit more truth about my progress in a challenge.

unfortunately Tony, you were right, I will not get a better RB, at least FDB will give me a nice boost.
I will continue playing 2 tables, not focusing much on the results, but focusing at a quality of my game, at this stage I am not playing for money. Probably if will put enough efforts someday poker will become more than just a game for me.

Thinking of switching to pokerstars, and play there 7's when i will finish my FDB at GALA. Tony or any other subscriber of this blog can share info with me about the pokerstars player pool, is it tougher than 5's ? I am pretty sure that it should be softer than 10's at Ipoker. I don't really care about a RB, I am looking for a higher ROI not hourly. This year motto quality > quantity. So far still keeping ~70Cev at 5s, I have heard that guys have ~50-55 Cev at 7's which looks surprisingly low for me.

As for the challenge I am pretty sure If I would include what I have spend, and will spend in a few days for coaching I would be near the end. I will give the exact challenge update at Sunday as usual, excluded my expenses.

Why is it surprising that winrates are lower in all Stars games than in their euro network counterparts? :yaoming:

My impression is that there's no money (for lazy bones like me) above 5s/6s/7s - everyone is solid.

That volume :spit: , anyway this week was pretty busy could not find a descent amount of time to invest in poker also I ran pretty HOT, and not so good EV wise just ~50 Cev which is descent I suppose, but given that I am playing 2 or 3 tables, and trying to focus as much as possible it is pretty weak.

I think I am able to finish this challenge until March, will see how it goes, I took vacation in middle of February (no I will not be going to Bahamas or any other country) pretty much I will be fully focused to poker investing ~5-8h / day probably 4 tabling just want to know what does it mean to be a poker pro. Most likely I will give up after a few days, but who knows.
Also I quit smoking mostly because of new goal getter promotion :badteeth: and immediately noticed that if I wanna quit I have to quit drinking coffee which obviously does not make it easier, but theres no such a thing which I could not do for 50$ :roto2:

day 2 as a non smoker:
Morning routine: It used to be
wake up (6:35 AM) - > bath ->coffee -> cigarette -> car -> cigarette -> office -> coffee -> cigarette - >starting my work day (7:30 AM)
now it is wake up (6:35 AM)-> bath -> car -> office ->starting my work day (7:10 AM)

I have now 20 free minutes to complain how bad I want to smoke, and how I cant concentrate because of caffeine and nicotine absence.
I am pretty sure if I would keep drinking coffee my chances of quit smoking would go from coin flip to a AA vs KK situation. Probably I should try switch from coffee to a tea which has caffeine also.

Sooner or later breakfast need will kick in too, those 20 minutes should be implemented in my morning routine too. Hope i will not need a chocolate bar or a sandwich while driving :badteeth:

Just a quick update in case if anyone cares how my challenge would look like if I would include my expenses. After yesterday's HOT run CURRENT BANKROLL + EXPENSES +RB for January= 103% of targeted BR challenge ! As usual I will give exact update at Sunday. When i will finish my challenge my ballance will show 1k+, and i will be ready to rush 10s at Ipoker, or to switch somewhere else thinking of WPN, PKR, STARS.

DAY 4 as a non smoker
Still alive ! I remember when I have tryed to quit smoking for a first time it was ~7 years ago maybe 8. I have read a famous book I think it was called 'The Easy Way to Stop Smoking' where in a book author few times demanded to go smoke. I am getting to the point to start read this book over, and over again, because smoking it is the part of 'easy way to quit smoking' program, and cant be called a cheating :yaoming:
Anyway I have read this book in 1 night, I have smoked a last cigarette which author suggested to do in the end of the book. It all made sense I really thought I am free of cigarette.. Unfortunately very next morning I woke up made coffee, and lighted a cigarette, just after that I realised that I stopped smoking just like 8h ago, long story short it didn't helped probably because I didn't really wanted to quit. It get me to the point If you really want to quit you dont need anything, if you dont want, nothing can help you.
I think I want to quit this time, so coffee should not be a problem, if I start to smoke again it won't be a coffees fault it will be my fault.
Kids this is how uncle SirPaulius started to drink coffee again.

P.S yes tea is not the same same... :truestory:

Again this week will be super low volume, but so far results are promising. Booked some more coaching with our coach Tim64 I think he is amazing coach, hope to beat 5s ASAP, not just by bankroll wise, but also Cev wise looking for ~60-70 with a decent sample or atleat with a comfirmation by coach Tim64 that i am ready to take a step in to a 10s waters. For the first time I will be playing at highest limit possible :yaoming:
Volume most likelly will be fixed at February.

You're crushing, sir, congrats! :f_drink:

As for the real life, it looks like you have to change your morning routine dramatically - remove not only the habit of drinking coffee, but all the preceding habits that trigger it. Change the melody of the alarm clock, do a different set of exercises, etc., to break the links between getting up and having coffee.

'The Power of Habit' by Charles Duhigg is strongly recommended if you haven't read it yet. Dr BJ Fogg's content is also insightful.

:gl:

With regard to your request about what the changes at PKR will be - I had been suspecting for long that it would be joining Microgaming, posted my conjecture at the PKR forum, and perhaps it prompted the CEO to be more 'talkative'. An hour ago, I got a marketing email (in Russian) that confirmed that the reason why the Games Room jackpots are being given away on Feb 12 (in 5 chunks to people chosen randomly, with probabilities of winning being proportional to the wagered amounts) is the upcoming partnership with the Microgaming casino network.

It hasn't been confirmed that the poker part will migrate onto the Microgaming software, but there have been strong indicators of it, e.g. the CEO was talking about anonymous HU tables and, more recently, about 'no need for waiting lists'.

I don't know if jackpot SnGs will appear on Microgaming right away, but I really hope so.

Pretty much I gave up with coffee just after few days xD , but I do agree that I have to change all my routine, cause my coworkers seems to be suspicious why I am coming at work so early :transpire:

I really hope that too, more fishes without a clue about a format.

Time to update !
Not looking at my cashier so not sure where I am, also not checking my Cev which is new for me, last time I have checked my balance was ~750 so ~150 BI's so I should not loose it all. I am always ready to take a step back in limits if go down under 500 mark. Volume I guess should be a litlle bit better than past few weaks but nothing spectacular. As I mentioned before waiting for my vacation and will try to put some real volume ~5-8h/day. After this mini challenge probablly I will be able determinate my real Cev, depending on my bankroll, I might be able switch to 10s. During a challenge I will not look at my balance, and PT4.
Life as a non smoker:
It is not gettin' easier, I have changed my routine as tony mentioned I even changed my alarm sound, and set a alarm to 6:45 ! Yesterday had a small trip arround Lithuania ~540 km, It is hard without a cigarette, but deffinetlly doable. I'm thinking what reward is waiting for punishing myself, and not smoking ? Honestly I don't know... You might say health ? But if we would care about health that much probably we should change a lot in our life, not just a smoking habbit.
Money ? Well let me answer this question with a joke.
Lady : Do you smoke ?
Man : Yes
Lady : How many packs a day ?
Man : 3 packs
Lady : How much per pack
Man : $10.00
Lady : And how long have you been smoking ?
Man : 15 years
Lady : So 1 pack cost $10.00 and you have 3 packs a day which puts your spending each month at $900. In one year, it would be $10,800 correct ?
Man : Correct
Lady : If in 1 year you spend $10,800 not accounting for inflation, the past 15 years puts your spending at $162,000 correct ?
Man : Correct
Lady : Do you know that if you hadn't smoked, that money could have been put in a step-up interest savings account and after accounting for compound interest for the past 15 years, you could have now bought a Ferrari ?
Man : Do you smoke ?
Lady : No
Man : Where's your Ferrari then?
I mean money which I spend for cigarettes, will go for something else f.e chocolate, junk food, or something not meaningful at all.
Anyway at least for today there's no cigarette in my schedule.

I see a lot of new expectations, where people planning to become a pro, but I am curious how much of them will / have succeed. IMO becoming pro really depends on where you live, and what your expectation is.
if average salary is like in Lithuania ~600 Euro, and you can live comfortable with this amount, I believe poker might be considered as a main source of income.
But if we take f.e Germany where average salary should be ~2.2k Euro, this is tough, and definitely not for everyone.
From my point of view I need stability, and in poker even RB is not stable. Not to mention, that I don't have required skills (game, and mental) Therefore poker is not an option at least for now, and most likely never will.
But it would be nice to know that at some point it could be considered as a main source.

Played a little bit more than past few weeks. Wasn't able to play all weekend, so missed ~150 trn more. Had a coaching at Friday, will see how I will able to update my game, still have way too much leaks.
Week 15
hands: 0 ; 188 tourney
profit: $ 148.35
starting BR : 99.74
current BR: 894.35
goal: 1k

105.65 to GO !
+ some RB will be paid. Challenge is almost done and it is very important to me because, 1k milestone probably will stay in memory for a long time, (at least 100 did) Which makes me think, what goal I could possibly achieve later is it 5K maybe 10K ?? or maybe I should start to cashing out, and invest money in to a food:badteeth:
Or should I start to look at poker more seriously as a 2nd source of income, and treat it like business, spending more time playing and learning ? Or just keep it simple, and treat poker like a video game, and play it in a free time from a free time. :f_grin:
