it looks like malta is so good place with not too high prices to live. So I do not get - my people do not move there massively? Have you an idea? If I heard well - you said 200 eur for flat per month? Similar as in Lithuania. But everything looks so much better than in Lithuania. Maybe there are not many jobs except for self employed internet workers and tourism?

Yes some ppl pay something ~300Euro/person, not per flat. But this flat is 2.3k / month. Actually there are already a lot of foreigners living here. Prices are a bit above average, although ppl from Norway / UK told me here it's much cheaper for them. There are quite a few jobs thanks to all the gambling / poker companies and businesses that have offices here, since there are very low taxes.

I was thinking about variance tonight... And how it can impact the way u perceive yourself, quick to think that there's something wrong with you... Not only in poker but in life.
An example for me is with girls. If you try to meet girls, there can come periods where it just seems like it doesn't click. I felt like this since coming to Malta. After ~5months of not socializing much and not talking to new girls, I took some action when moving here... Still, there was no spark in my interactions. Again, it's so easy to think 'I just suck again', 'what am I doing that wrong?', 'why don't I like them?', 'It's just a different culture', 'I need to make changes', etc.
It's so easy to take the feedback from the 'downswing' and make it like there's something wrong with you.
The hard thing is to have confidence and persist, knowing that it's normal to go through rough patches in anything - so much power in just accepting this.
Same with poker -- when I go through extended bad variance it's so easy to think I'm just playing bad, lose confidence in my game, and change up my solid game, thus playing worse, losing more.
It's how you are quick to judge yourself by exterior feedback and because of that unconsciously sabotaging yourself. I think some of us just have this thought pattern, where the minute something goes wrong, we quickly say 'It's my fault!'.
So I view it that through poker, meeting girls, etc. the Universe is trying to teach me to trust myself through the bad times, not let my emotions swing along with the surface results, but keep a constant way, focus on the process, focus on what I can control and accept everything else.

PS. Yes, started to get better results on the girls part, after thinking 'ok I'm still a cool guy, I'm just gonna stick it out'. It's a lesson that will get learned deeper and deeper.

As for the variance, I read the Mental Game of Poker and this also gave me rational insight into variance. In effect, I made an Excel list (see below) where I can rationalize myself that although there is variance, as long as your game is right, you will make profit.

And btw, the same as with girls. You most probably are used to hook up with girls and have some fun. Think about the times you had success and perhaps also make a list of those (don't want to be an asshole to women of almost making them an object) you hooked up successfully. This is purely for yourself and you will see that those women who were important in your life, you had success with at least some of them

Hesticus: hey interesting approach with the variance scale, there should be one for girls haha. I think it's a bit overdoing it tho, in the sense that maybe it takes too much time. And yeah those are pretty good suggestions on the girls aspect, I have been into 'pick-up' for quite a while btw.
To be honest I'm not worrying that much on the girl part, I have confidence that if I want to get that down, I can do it pretty fast, just that now I have a pretty good poker momentum which I don't want to ruin.

Fair to say it has been a pretty good week. Ran hot at 100NL first few days, so I got to shoot 200NL again. Ran even hotter.
Usually I don't post that many graphs, but this is a fun one
Yeah so first factor would be running hot as fuark, son. Then, I feel like discussing poker with some of my different coaches gave me very valuable perspectives on the game, got to see so many different approaches lately. Also, realized a big thing that has been holding me back in terms of mental game and performance at the tables. These are just the biggest things I feel have helped me improve lately, not saying this is why I got this upswing (34 BI's lol ridic).
The main idea though is to stay humble and not identify with results. Everytime in the past I noticed myself attach to my good results and make it about me, make it so that I was the one that is so good now. Everytime I went on a downswing shortly after. Coincidence? I go more indepth in today's vBlog.
So yeah, I think the lesson is to stay humble and see it like it's happening through you, witness it, don't identify when good results appear. Identify with the effort you put in. With stuff you can control. Don't get too high on your good results. Don't get too low on your bad results.
Keep a constant way.

Congratulations for a well deserved upswing, man! Also enjoyed the videos. I can relate a lot to the fact that after an upswing downswings come right after. Can't agree more with what you've said about being humble. Keep it up! (and I don't mean the results, I mean your effort! )
