Hi poker strategists!
After taking a longer break from poker I`m back. However, It won't be like it was before, when grinding and studying sngs is my priority. Poker now is more like a hobby. I play some occasional mtt sngs and tournaments without any specific goals than just having some fun and excitement for slowly building a new bankroll. To make this more interesting and give me additional motivation to play, I decided to participate in pokerstrategy bankroll challenge. This will be very slow, but hopefully a steady climb.

For the challenge I will be playing on William Hill and updating my weekly status on Sundays or Mondays starting from now.

Starting BR: 154 €
Weekly balance: 0 €
Weekly tournaments played: 0
Total tournaments played: 0
Current BR: 154 €
Target BR: 1000 €

Very nice start of the bankroll challenge. On Sunday tournament session after opting in the challenge I managed to place 2nd in 1€+r 1k€ guaranteed tournament for 176€. Heads Up match was a disaster. We had equal stacks ~20bb and I played it poorly by making decision based on emotions, which cost me 1st place and ~110€.
Anyway, it was nice experience, good start of the challenge and huge boost to my bankroll which opens more options on what games to play!

Hi there, i knew your name did sound familiar when i read the application!
So, you have some kind of head start, good luck for another tournament win/2nd place.
... well, just continously doing 2nd places would be enough for me,too :-)

Overall very good results this week. I did not manage to play as much as I anticipated, that's because it was a busy week, with exams at uni that took a lot of time for studying, however, results there should be good as well.

One final table and steep increase to my bankroll. Results speak for itself.

Bankroll challenge week 1
Starting BR: 154 €
Weekly balance: +162 €

Target BR: 1000 €

I made some deeper analysis on ipoker platform (William Hill) and I'm leaning towards moving my bankroll to another platform (most likely 888) in the nearest future because of these reasons:

  • Around October/November 2016 they changed tournament schedule. They advertise that this one is better with more tournaments to play and this will benefit players overall, yada yada and etc. I think it's quite the opposite, personally for me the old structure was more appealing, with bigger guaranteed prizes and some nice satellites running for weekly/monthly mid limit tournaments with even more guaranteed prize pools. I also very much liked those 1r/1a tournaments that are totally gone now. I rather play a little bit less tournaments, but with higher prize pools and still the same player fields. Let's be honest, these changes are not to benefit players, they are to make more money from them.. :f_frown:
  • They started to charge rake from rebuys and addons! :f_o:
  • They messed something up with their hhistories and the tournament results now don't import as they should have, you have to check every result and edit them manually for most of the tournaments.

There are other more player friendly softwares out there, where on top of everything I could get some first depositor bonuses also, that could help to grow my BR.

Challenge completed!!

Yesterday I placed 5th in William Hills`s Kart Series #24 50k Gtd and took down 2225€. Had 2x20€ entries from satellites. So close to the title, but not this time. Anyway, I'm happy with the results and new personal online poker record. Previous was 1241$ in 2015. I will try to break this couple more times in 2017 :f_drink:. As for the BR challenge I will take a little break from it and figure out what to do next. Probably I will move some part of bankroll to 888 poker and some I will cash out for a nice treat.

hi rupucis,

well done! Sometimes it goes very quickly to achieve the goal :-) How long did the tourney take? With satellites, you probably got in for almost nothing?
Would you be in for a winner interview? If so, please add me on Skype sven.bertelmann.ps (also, that gives you PokerStrategy-gold for one month)

See you and hopefully you are back in soon!

Hi SvenBe, thanks!
Tournament for me took 6h44min. Played from the start with 2 entries. One of the tickets I got from 3€ turbo sat and the other was from 1€ freezout mtt with 1k€ added in T tickets, where I finished in top 50 and got a free ticket. However, I played some more satellites for 20€ entries and in total I invested somewhere around 10€.

Congratulations, rupucis2, well done!

Malacis, vecīt! :f_drink:

Well done! :f_thumbsup:

John
