True but it's still to hit a flop hard that you can comfortably stack off!

So, I made a switch to PLO. At the moment reading a PLO starting book about pre-flop hand selection. It's all about the quality of hands I must say and how to judge the quality of hands. Suited not, rundown not. Ace high with magnum qualities etc.

I like learning something new without a lot of things available. The thing is, opponents havent also that lot of a knowledge in this case. It's certainly much more swingy. Now I need one week to get some kind of 1 time all starting cards instead of getting through a loop at NL. It's nice to see people stacking off lighter than what I am doing. But sometimes I misjudge the quality of my hand and get wrecked.....

Whish you great success! I really hope that you will enjoy this game an be a part of the PLO family. As Ansky said in a poker cast podcast we are happier than those limit or draw players and not so socially akward than these bumhunting NL players _evil: We like to chat and keep games running.
But there is always this peril. If you play PLO because you want flee from NL - it can get tricky.

You wrote that it's certainly much more swingy. But really: get mentally prepared that you will lose stacks.

Yes, I dislike bumhunting. Kills the game. I also dislike chat cause people dont have proper manners.

I don't get what you like to say with. But there is always this peril. If you play PLO because you want flee from NL - it can get tricky. Can you explain it a little bit more. I also saw your blog at the moment at page 2 with reading. Hope to read it a little bit more and hope to see some PLO hands in it:).

PLO is literally NLH with 4 starting cards :truestory: Some adjustments should be made though. But i like Omaha Hi/Lo more. Just because not so swingy :f_cool:

I know that posting hand histories would be important. But somehow this wasn't something I had the urge to do. For me right now blogging is to process the day and lower the intensity. But to improve myself as player there will be hand histories in the future but right now you will not be statisfied.

Yeah I try to explain. Wasn't happy with my chosen words either but was the best I could come up with without sounding too negative. Adding a new gamie to the mixture is always a good thing. There are also several reasons to stop playing NLH. But when you stop playing NLH because you got brutally sucked out can't handle the beatings anymore and now are thinking PLO is the solution to that and the promised land - you might be disappointed. Unfortunately I observed this several times and they went back or quitted completly. Play PLO for the right reasons. Not to avoid NLH but because it's more fun!

I really hope that you get hooked too. It's such an awesome game!

Well, partially true. I play now PLO because of just learning a new thing. It was what I said in my switch post. Don't know why. But I like it so far. Don't know if I have the true reasons to do so. The big thing was. I was not beating nl25 at the moment. This has several reasons and one reason might be that I am just not aware enough of how they play their bad hands or their good hands. Got it in pretty bad and not only a few occassions unfortunately.

This will happen in PLO too. I know, but playing with a less big amount of sum. Playing a little more relaxed and playing a little more in my comfort zone and learning a new thing will help me in refiguring pleasure in playing poker. Starting at the bottom of the PLO ocean:).

But I think it's an awesome game and I like it so far. And I think I will switch in future probably. Its reaching top of my abilities or something like that...

Rank type, suit type, number of combo's i understand easily here i guess.

But what is straight shapes, straightflush shapes and hutchison points.

I can imagine that hutchison points are some kind of system to rank cards or something like that and the highter the better probably?

Hutchison - each card has a value and then you add some points for how well they are connected/paired. And at a certain threshold they are playable. I'm comfortable enoogh to say that this system is very archaic and you can forget it right away.

The shapes are the "numbers" of flop with you can hit that shape.
FLOP:

:Qx::Jx::7x::4x:

straight shapes:
:Ax::Kx::Tx:
:Kx::Tx::9x:
:Tx::9x::8x:
:8x::6x::5x:
:6x::5x::3x:

Hi advancedTN1984,

I didnt enjoy PLO that much, the winnings weren't great and I lost interest i guess.

So my new plan is to keep this blog up-to-date. With regular no limit hold'em. And because I like to try, I will do a challenge again. But the bankroll has to be around 1k before I start again.

Good luck Advanced! I think you will do great.

So, I got to 1.000€ today. I will start the challenge to go from 1.000€ to 5.000€. It will be though, lot's of distractions around the way, playing other games and having a new regular part-time job.

But my goal will be to play poker allmost everyday and having fun at the tables, enjoying my time out there.

The challenge will be fun, but Sven, can i qualify for the blogjob thing? The only thing is that i play on unibet and only can get a sheet for my results after a month and then i can calculate bb/100 manually for example. Don't know yet for what more of information I can get out of their sheet. But will try.

I don't bother to much about the status upgrade. But rather have a video reviewed for example.

so, unibet does not have any tracking possible? Sorry for not knowing that...
If you have some proof from the client that we can post, i think it will be good to go...

I can get the following information from the client.

Flops seen / day, week, month.
How much i topped up and got back from the tables while playing. I can get my challenge points and can get after a month the hands played per day, limit etc.

Also I can get from pokerstrategy how much rake I paid per day, basicly strategy points per day / 4 or something like that. And I can post of course the bankroll for the moment in one screenshot with those flops seen / day.

The thing is, unibet is a hudless environment, gives some advantages but also some disadvantages.

So an update.

Today I started also to get with a roll at party poker, interesting site, they got tables where you can only sit with one entry. Got a table where people were playing on all 4 other seats 40/2 or something similar, nice day. Got some profits.

Got also some profits at my main site unibet. Will show tomorrow some hands.

howdy advancedTN1984

seems it does not run too bad at the moment, right? 40/2 stats as opponents is also what i like to see :-)
How would you judge fishiness unibet vs party poker?

So it never happened yesterday to show some hands, I kinda was lazy i guess. Might be that I show some hands this afternoon.

I can't judge about villains yet and compare partypoker with unibet. At unibet they are something throwing the money over to you with just preflop all-in without any 3-bet 4-bet(at comparable stake) on partypoker. The nice thing for party poker is that my hud works somewhat, so I can track my own stats basicly and can get a population tendency.

But having a table running like that is kinda amazing of course. Even in those times!
