This is still active - I'll give my ideas (but please bear in mind I am no expert) - Confidant91 (the coach) normally looks at hands in the weekly coaching, so if you want his ideas on your hands, make sure you catch that live or catch up on the recording.

Here's my thought on one of your hands (I'll look at the others in separate posts.

Preflop: Hero is SB with J♣: T♣:
UTG folds, MP calls $0.02, CO calls $0.02, BTN calls $0.02, Hero raises to $0.14, BB folds, MP calls $0.12, CO raises to $3.75 and is all-in, 3 folds

We are in SB and our hand is a blue one according to the chart so we should raise although there are limpers in front of us....I adjusted the bet size to 4BB + 1BB per limper......I played correctly according to the strategy, but I think here a fold would have been better because there are so many players involved and JTs is the bottom range to play even there are limpers in front of us...what's your advice?

As you say - the strategy says to raise and I am pretty sure with those fish you are happy to do so either hoping to take it down pre-flop - or getting most to fold and playing against a smaller field. Alternatively, I guess you could have limped behind, but that would have left you out of position and without initiative and part of the goal of this course, to begin with, is to teach us the value of playing in position and with the initiative. Having said that, I guess raising OOP could be a problem on the flop and later? When the BB 3bets all-in, it is an easy fold as you played it.

2 folds, CO raises to $0.06, Hero folds, SB calls $0.05, BB folds

Comment: according to our char we have to Fold AQo in Button as soon as there is a raise in front of us...but as I assume that CO does a steal raise, I think that my AQo is good most of the time and I could go for a 3-bet....am I right on that? What would be the best range to go for re-stealing?

As you say, this is a fold according to the chart, but in Lesson 5, confidant talks about adjustments that can be made and one of them is defending hands like AQ for Top Pair Value Calls, so this is a hand we can defend as we end up in position and hopefully have the edge over our opponent post-flop. Check out Lesson 5 for more details.

As learned in session 2 we have to contibet every hand in position if our enemy checks to us...do we have to play different if there are more players involved? So far I also did my condibet, but for now it didn't work out really well...here I have a hand for example.

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 9♦: A♥:
3 folds, Hero raises to $0.05, SB calls $0.04, BB calls $0.03

Comment: basic steal-raise from the button according to chart

Flop: ($0.15) 5♥: 9♣: 5♣: (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $0.09, SB calls $0.09, BB folds

Comment:3-handed but as I have a made hand I contibet 2/3 pot

Turn: ($0.33) 6♦: (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.21, SB raises to $0.42, Hero folds

Comment: according to session 2 we have to go on betting 2/3 pot what I did here...as SB check-raises and the board is drawy, I fold

As always with poker, I think it depends - on your opponents and the board texture whether you might conti-bet - I don't think you can go massively wrong conti-betting 100% when in position and with initiative at NL2 (please correct me if I am wrong).

With the hand you played, I don't think there is any problem betting after the 2 checks before you. The only thing that possibly might want is to bet a bit bigger to protect your hand and isolate? (please correct me if I am wrong in this).

On the turn, Confidant always warns about those min raises and check/raise is often quite a strong move so I think folding was correct.

Hope this helps - and as I said - I am no expert, so please, anybody else, feel free to put me straight or offer alternative ideas.

Cheers

Hello guys

thanks spidey for your opinion!
Had a session yesterday and would like to post some hands again as I am not sure if I played correctly:

HAND 1

Poker Stars, $0.01/$0.02 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $2.07 (103.5 bb)
BB: $3.72 (186 bb)
Hero (UTG): $3.85 (192.5 bb)
MP: $2.16 (108 bb)
CO: $2.16 (108 bb)
BTN: $2.99 (149.5 bb)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A♦: A♥:
Hero raises to $0.06, MP calls $0.06, CO folds, BTN calls $0.06, 2 folds

Standard open raise 3BB

Flop: ($0.21) 8♠: T♣: 3♣: (3 players)
Hero bets $0.15, MP calls $0.15, BTN folds

Board is drawy and I am OOP vs 2 Players, but still I go for Contibet. Should I bet ore than 2/3 Pot?

Turn: ($0.51) J♥: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.37, MP calls $0.37

Not a nice hand as straight draw is really dangerous now. I bet again 2/3 pot though...I'm not sure if I should check/fold here already.

River: ($1.25) 9♦: (2 players)
Hero?

very bad river card again...I don' think that I can get any value here and im am beaten...I check/fold.

Results:

Spoiler

Hero checks, MP bets $0.60, Hero folds

$1.25 pot ($0.04 rake)
Final Board: 8♠: T♣: 3♣: J♥: 9♦:
Hero mucked A♦: A♥: and lost (-$0.58 net)
MP mucked and won $1.21 ($0.63 net)

HAND 2

Poker Stars, $0.01/$0.02 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $3.93 (196.5 bb)
BB: $3.07 (153.5 bb)
UTG: $3.94 (197 bb)
MP: $1.46 (73 bb)
CO: $0.93 (46.5 bb)
Hero (BTN): $6.84 (342 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with K♥: K♠:
UTG folds, MP raises to $0.06, CO folds, Hero raises to $0.18, 2 folds, MP calls $0.12

I standard 3-bet with Kings

Flop: ($0.39) 7♥: 8♥: J♣: (2 players)
MP bets $0.40, Hero raises to $6.66 and is all-in, MP calls $0.88 and is all-in

Now he donk bets Pot-Size......now seeing the hand again I think this is a very strong move and I should fold my over-pair Kings as he has a set or Aces most of the time, but he could also have QQ here...is a fold correct?

Turn: ($2.95) 3♠: (2 players, 2 are all-in)
River: ($2.95) K♣: (2 players, 2 are all-in)

Results:

Spoiler

$2.95 pot ($0.10 rake)
Final Board: 7♥: 8♥: J♣: 3♠: K♣:
MP showed A♦: A♥: and lost (-$1.46 net)
Hero showed K♥: K♠: and won $2.85 ($1.39 net)

HAND 3

This is a hand I would like to talk about in general:

Poker Stars, $0.01/$0.02 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $1.95 (97.5 bb)
BB: $2.06 (103 bb)
Hero (UTG): $9.25 (462.5 bb)
MP: $10.49 (524.5 bb)
CO: $2 (100 bb)
BTN: $3.68 (184 bb)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with K♠: A♣:
Hero raises to $0.06, 3 folds, SB calls $0.05, BB raises to $2.06 and is all-in, Hero raises to $9.25 and is all-in, SB folds

According to Chart we have AK and it is a red hand...we want to get it in pre-flop in best case. Here villain does a very fishy move as he simply goes all-in. I was not sure if it is really a strong move....should i simly fold here although we have AK? Which range should we call here?

Flop: ($4.18) K♣: 7♥: J♠: (2 players, 2 are all-in)
Turn: ($4.18) 6♣: (2 players, 2 are all-in)
River: ($4.18) 6♦: (2 players, 2 are all-in)

Results:

Spoiler

$4.18 pot ($0.15 rake)
Final Board: K♣: 7♥: J♠: 6♣: 6♦:
BB showed A♥: A♠: and won $4.03 ($1.97 net)
Hero showed K♠: A♣: and won $0.00 (-$2.06 net)

HAND 4 - Last hand :)

Poker Stars, $0.01/$0.02 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $1.98 (99 bb)
BB: $3.54 (177 bb)
Hero (UTG): $5.66 (283 bb)
MP: $2.73 (136.5 bb)
CO: $1.88 (94 bb)
BTN: $2 (100 bb)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with J♣: A♥:
Hero raises to $0.06, 4 folds, BB calls $0.04

Standart open raise 3BB

Flop: ($0.13) K♠: J♦: 8♣: (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.09, BB calls $0.09

Standart conti-bet 2/3 pot...should we go for pot-size here as it is drawy board?

Turn: ($0.31) T♥: (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

we didn't improve our hand and street drays could be completed so we check behind

River: ($0.31) A♣: (2 players)
BB bets $0.18, Hero calls $0.18

We hit 2 pair but also every Q does the street...not he donk bets into us...should we fold here? I think this was a bad call. BB should not go for a bluff on this board.

Results:

Spoiler

$0.67 pot ($0.02 rake)
Final Board: K♠: J♦: 8♣: T♥: A♣:
BB showed K♦: Q♣: and won $0.65 ($0.32 net)
Hero mucked J♣: A♥: and lost (-$0.33 net)

Thank you a lot for helping me improve my play. Hope to see your comments in tomorrow's training. Still I'm playing very basic strategy from Lesson 1 and 2. I don't feel save enough to go for more advanced stuff already so I keep on training basics.

Hope to make it for the coaching tomorrow, otherwise I'll definately check out the record!

Greetings,
Lacsap

Hey, I'm new here :) so forgive me if I played this hand completely wrong I guess that's why I'm posting.

I don't have HM I have been using FPDB so I don't know how well this will come out

PokerStars: Hold'em No Limit ($0.01/$0.02)
5 player on 6 max

MP : ($1.21 in chips)
CO: ($2.21 in chips)
BTN: Hero ($3.62 in chips)
SB: ($2.00 in chips)
BB : ($2.00 in chips)

SB: posts small blind $0.01

BB: posts big blind $0.02

MP: calls $0.02

CO: folds

BTN (HERO): raises $0.03 to $0.05
I realize I should have raised a little bigger after the limp but I stupidly didn't see the limper.

SB: folds
BB: calls $0.03
MP: calls $0.03

FLOP T♣:9♥:K♣:

BB: bets $0.10
MP: folds
BTN (HERO): raises $0.23 to $0.33

I had a straight so my thought process was if I bet big he will most likely fold any flush draw so Reraised 2/3pot to give him bad odds to call the flush draw.

BB: raises $0.55 to $0.88

At this point, I thought I have to fold or go all in ( I think this is where I went wrong) So he reraises and the kind of hand I thought he had was 1010/99: A♣:Q♣: / A♣:J♣:or 10/9 k9/k10. I was betting he had 10s or 9s just had that weird feeling.

BTN (HERO): raises $2.69 to $3.57 and is all-in

BB: calls $1.07 and is all-in

TURN :T♣:9♥:K♣: 5♦:
RIVER T♣:9♥:K♣: 5♦: T♠:

I would love to hear some feedback go easy please iv only been playing for around a month :)

Spoiler

Total pot $4.06 | Rake $0.14
Board T♣:9♥:K♣: 5♦: T♠:
BB: 9♣:9♦: collected ($3.92)
Hero: mucked J♠:Q♥:

Hi Willthare1991,

Welcome to PokerStrategy :welcome:

First thing I want to say is that there is no need to be sorry if you play some hands badly. We are here to learn and help each other out, so don't be ashamed to post any hands you feel unsure about :f_pleased:

The hand conversion seemed to work pretty well. One weird thing is that I can't see your hand at the beginning, had to look from the spoiler.

As you said yourself, because there is a limper you can isoraise bigger.
OTF I like your raise and the sizing. Versus a 3bet it is a clear shove. You have the nuts. There are no better hands possible. So folding is totally out of the question.
Villain got lucky and hit a full house OTR but that happens. The results of one hand doesn't matter. What matters is that you played well and will win in these spots on the long run.

Hello, i have a boom hand here, i dont know if you watch those or not but here it is. I put the enemy on AA, QQ and im just thinking he doesnt believe me so i "value shove" in my mind. Is this a very dumb thing to do, i know at least i must have played the hand too fast. So im guessing i should have just bet 3/4 of the pot on river and then what? Folded triple kings with ace kicker on a shove?

I guess i should have thought he just was set mining with 66 or 44 and floated a single bet. I was hoping he is a crazy floater with AA QQ and will pay anything so i shove.

The more i think about the hand the more i realize how bad it is. So bet 3/4 on river and fold to shove is the play.
What if i have KK myself, is overbetting or shoving ok then, it is right? I guess i just overvalued triple kings and didnt think it through

I actually think this kind of behaviour is one of my big beginner weaknesses.

Thanks for any and all answers in advance

Hello guys! Have some more hands I'd be happy for some feedback :)

Hand 1

Poker Stars, $0.01/$0.02 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $6.91 (345.5 bb)
BB: $2.18 (109 bb)
UTG: $3.29 (164.5 bb)
Hero (MP): $2.08 (104 bb)
CO: $7.01 (350.5 bb)
BTN: $2 (100 bb)

Preflop: Hero is MP with K♥: A♣:
UTG folds, Hero raises to $0.06, CO raises to $0.18, 3 folds, Hero raises to $0.42, CO calls $0.24

Standart raise, we get a 3-bet and we 4-bet - shuld we simply go all-in here? Anyway he calls....

Flop: ($0.87) 9♥: 2♣: T♥: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.52, CO calls $0.52

We are OOP but I decided to go for a conti-bet. Whats your opinion on that? The pot is already pretty big so the conti bet is also a big one....Looking at the flop again I thik that most of the hands call here ... overcards, overpairs, straight draws...should we simply check/call? or check/fold?

Turn: ($1.91) 2♠: (2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks

we didnt improve the hand so we check/fold..

River: ($1.91) 6♣: (2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks

same as on turn...

pretty expensive play here. How could I play better here or was it fine like that?

Results:

Spoiler

$1.91 pot ($0.07 rake)
Final Board: 9♥: 2♣: T♥: 2♠: 6♣:
Hero showed K♥: A♣: and lost (-$0.94 net)
CO showed J♥: J♣: and won $1.84 ($0.90 net)

HAND 2

Poker Stars, $0.01/$0.02 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

Hero (SB): $2.01 (100.5 bb)
BB: $2.10 (105 bb)
UTG: $9.39 (469.5 bb)
MP: $1.99 (99.5 bb)
CO: $2.12 (106 bb)
BTN: $2.10 (105 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 7♠: 7♥:
UTG raises to $0.06, 3 folds, Hero calls $0.05, BB calls $0.04

we cann call according to call 20 rule for set-value

Flop: ($0.18) 4♥: 4♠: 4♣: (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG bets $0.08, Hero calls $0.08, BB calls $0.08

strange flop we hit full house but actually I was pretty unsure how to play this hand. UTG does conti-bet. I call here as we have a good hand. Should we fold? or maybe raise?

Turn: ($0.42) T♦: (3 players)
Hero?

Now this is a bad card for us, every 10 makes a better full house, A10, K10, 10 10 could be possible hands for UTG raiser.....what to do here? Check? Bet?

Turn: ($0.42) T♦: (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG bets $0.40, 2 folds

So I decided to check and UTG did a pot-size bet...that appears strong to me and I fold.

Results:

Spoiler

$0.42 pot ($0.01 rake)
Final Board: 4♥: 4♠: 4♣: T♦:
Hero mucked 7♠: 7♥: and lost (-$0.14 net)
BB mucked and lost (-$0.14 net)
UTG mucked and won $0.41 ($0.27 net)

HAND 3

In this Hand I'd like to know if I could have made more money:

Poker Stars, $0.01/$0.02 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $2.18 (109 bb)
BB: $2.33 (116.5 bb)
UTG: $3.27 (163.5 bb)
Hero (MP): $2.10 (105 bb)
CO: $3.32 (166 bb)
BTN: $2 (100 bb)

Preflop: Hero is MP with K♣: K♠:
UTG folds, Hero raises to $0.06, CO calls $0.06, BTN calls $0.06, 2 folds

Nice Hand with KK, I raise and get 2 calls

Flop: ($0.21) J♥: T♥: T♣: (3 players)
Hero bets $0.15, CO folds, BTN raises to $0.65, Hero raises to $2.04 and is all-in, BTN folds

very wet board, I decide to bet for hand protection.
we get a re-raise - as he did not raise pre.flop I think I'm ahead with KK, only a T beats us. As the Pot is already pretty big I decide to push all in. He folds....would a call make more sense here and hope to get more value on further streets?

Results:

Spoiler

$1.51 pot ($0.05 rake)
Final Board: J♥: T♥: T♣:
Hero mucked K♣: K♠: and won $1.46 ($0.75 net)
CO mucked and lost (-$0.06 net)
BTN mucked and lost (-$0.71 net)

UTG: $2.04 (102 bb)
MP: $5.45 (272.5 bb)
Hero (CO): $2.82 (141 bb)
BTN: $6.26 (313 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with J♥: K♠:
2 folds, Hero raises to $0.05, BTN calls $0.05, 2 folds

Standard raise

Flop: ($0.13) K♥: Q♣: 9♠: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.09, BTN calls $0.09

We hit top pair and conti-bet

Turn: ($0.31) J♦: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.23, BTN calls $0.23

We hit 2 Pair, but also straights could be possible now. Should we go on betting here or simply check/call or even check/fold because of possible straights?
I decided to bet.

River: ($0.77) 7♣: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.49, BTN calls $0.49

This card doesn't change anything so I decided again to bet....should I be more careful here regarding the drawy board? Or is betting on every street good here as we have a strong hand?

Results:

LAST HAND 5

BB: $2.03 (101.5 bb)
UTG: $3.09 (154.5 bb)
MP: $2.17 (108.5 bb)
CO: $1.87 (93.5 bb)
BTN: $1.44 (72 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q♠: Q♣:
UTG raises to $0.06, MP folds, CO calls $0.06, BTN folds, Hero raises to $0.22, BB folds, UTG calls $0.16, CO folds

We standard 3-bet and hope to get all-in. We get 2 callers.

Flop: ($0.52) 8♠: 3♦: A♥: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.22, UTG calls $0.22

Don't like the A here, but I decided to conti-bet vs 2 players.....was that a smart move? I'mm not sure...anyway we get one caller.

Turn: ($0.96) J♥: (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG checks

as we didn't win the pot on flop and didn't improve the hand, we simply check/fold...villain checks behind.

River: ($0.96) J♠: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.31, UTG calls $0.31

another J on the river. I thought as villain didn't bet the turn, he hasn't got the A and we have the winning hand. To see a cheap Showdown, I bet pretty small. Again I don't know if that was a good move?

Thanks a lot in advance for going through my hands!!!! Hope to go on improving my play :)

So I got a question. What if I call a hand like KQs in the BB and I'm OOP? In the second article you say you CBET vs 1, but in the article of lesson 5 there is no bluff bet with trash hands.

So do I bluff the turn with 2/3 if I'm calling out of the BB or do I just check / fold there? That one is a little bit confusing. I normally CBET in position for 1/2 or 2/3 but I'm not sure what to do OOP. You didn't mention that in the lessons I guess.
