My first weekend at NL5

So far I would say that it seems very beatable. A lot of weak players and a lot of passiv/one and done regulars.

Regulars like this one here: :f_drink:

Spoiler

Hero wins $9.92

Plays three tables at a time and obv. doesn't like his redline to drop.

Some content:
I had BB marked as someone who doesn't rebuy/plays with less than 70bb. Probably a weaker player.
I don't like my flop sizing. Should be around $1 to be able to shove the turn. What do you think about the calls?

Flop sizing is great, the standard is even lower in 4bet pot in fact (not that you care about doing it standard here but just to note).
I can't see how you could fold here. If it's a cooler don't mind it. Well except if your HUD says he's a nit playing 10-8-0 on a big sample of course but apparently it didn't.

Your Flop sizing is good. In a 4bet Pot you can probably even bet smaller. But I would bet also like you did. The small bet size allowes you to bet with a wide part of your range. Alot of people on Micro Stakes cbet nearly their whole range for 2/3 Pot because they think that they cant get it in on river if they cbet small on flop. But a big flop bet size makes the flop strategy harder to play. So its more likely to make mistakes.

Against weaker/passiv players I tend to get it in as quick as possible. This is why I would like a bigger flop bet. But I get what you are saying and it makes sense against regulars. He had 8♠:7♦: and hit a 5 on the river.

Biggest losers on NL 5:

I suck OOP:

BTN is most likely regish/tightish.

What are your thoughts on the switch to x/call OTT? River, I probably x/fold. I would guess his preflop default range to be KQs, AQs-ATs, JJ-88. Sometimes AA as a trap plus maybe suited broadways ones in a blue moon.

Some funny ones:

I see no point in being so impatient with fishes and in treating regs differently in that matter.

For the AKs hand I don't like the check turn, you should already have other Ax combos to x/c here. He's betting so low you are missing value.

And squeezing with A8o from SB is awful by the way but fun hand indeed =)

nl5 regs LOVE their set mining and many weaker ones shamelessly cold call 3bets with pocket pairs.
generally speaking, we'd bet 3 streets, but exploitatively i don't mind checking at some point and not playing for stacks if there's just not enough worse hands in their range (Ax) to pay us off. if you think he has all the broadway Ax then just bet bet jam and don't think about it, don't balance

My OOP game plan is pretty weak in general. This is why I was "trying something".
It is basically:
- bet, bet, bet with good hands or missed draws when I think it is reasonable to have FEQ.
- on dry boards, cbet once with air
- x/fold in all other cases

When I am the aggr. I don't have x/calls or x/raises except for sometimes stone cold nuts. I get that against agg. players it's good to switch to x/calls etc. But I don't have a good idea of what my x/calls or x/raises should consist of in a more general sense. Are there any videos/articles that you could recommend?

... squeezing with A8o from SB is awful ...

Really? I was under the impression, that A8o should be fine. People tend to overfold in CO und BTN, even more so vs a squeeze, my A removes a lot of strong combos from their range and I can easily fold vs a 4bet. Would you say the same about BB?

Well it's not stupid but it's quite lacking, you need to think deeply about both ranges here.
For example on most dry boards people will call at least once with their medium PP and strongest broadways (hence with most of their 3betcalling pre range) so cbetting once with air and then giving up isn't a good idea.

The x/r theme isn't a trend in itself (and shouldn't be as it's simply derived from the organisation of the whole range split) but if you want good videos to learn how to play and think about 3bet pots there is on this site the w34z3l serie "third floor party" and on Youtube the Janda classroom COvsBTNvsBlind (more dated but still impressive).

Well to begin with you have way too many better hands to squeeze with. When you get called you get yourself in weird spots OOP I really don't see the point.
About BB same, it's so much a call. Low Ax are meant to play SRP and pot control, except when they are suited eventually.

Problem with A8o is that it was shits for value postflop. No connection shit kicker and well nothing nyt weak ace. Ok Co raise and BTN flatting range have a lot weaker hands. Just making a pot larger with a hand that will suck 5/6 Times otf is a leak. Most regs play face up here so yea. Make pot larger with value not with worst combos of Ax.
