I woke up in the middle of the night with the "Michael Finnegan" song in my head.
Don't know that one?
Allow me...
I´m sure everybody is interested: I´m drinking coffee right now, this time with almond milk.

I had heard of this stuff, so the other day in the grocery store I saw almonds were on sale, so I bought a herd of them.
I tried milking some of them, but I couldn't find the teats![]()
You may think cocktail time is over, but I came up with a "seasonal" one, now that Christmas time is slowly approaching.
I call this creation "Knecht Ruprecht". An international title could be "Santa's Little Helper", though that would carry the unfortunate implication that Santa needs a drink to help him get through his job.

About the name, Knecht Ruprecht is seen as Santa's* main aid in Germany, and mostly responsible for handing out the punishment for naughty kids. Which, according to the German tradition, usually involves getting your (preferably bare) butt flogged with a birch rod, rather than handing out coal or anything.

*Technically, it's Saint Nicholas, who is now usually seen as a different, but related and partially interchangeable character with Santa Claus. It's confusing and complicated enough to warrant a full post some time.
There's also a very well-known poem of the same title about him, by Theodor Storm. In the poem, he mentions that good, pious kids like apples, nuts and almonds. Apples are disgusting, so I substituted them with oranges.
So, the ingredients are: 30ml Orange Curaçao, 30ml Frangelico and 30ml Amaretto, representing each of the three items mentioned in the poem.
If you disagree with me about the apples, feel free to substitute the orange curaçao with cider, calvados or just plain old apple juice to make a version that's closer to the original poem.
Oh, and I'll probably try a version that uses triple sec instead of orange curaçao next time, because:
1. Triple sec tends to be cheaper, and easier to get.
2. It should give the drink a more brownish color, which is commonly seen as the color of Knecht Ruprecht's robe.
This is awful -- I have been diagnosed with NARF.

Aw, problem solved!
We still have some mussgoes - beef sausages that must urgently go!
So, we gonna have sausages and potatoe-salad.

I had leftover sausages for supper last night.
About half way through I got rather queasy. Fortunately that's as far as it got.
