Not a fan of any of the chicken nugget offerings at fast food joints.
One of them had a "chicken strips" item, that was actual breast meat, but by the time they're battered and deep fried the calorie density gets way too high.

I used to really like the nuggets at McDonald's. In fact, when I was a kid, that was pretty much all I ever had at that place. I was 11-12 years old until I tried my very first McDonald's burger - and still much preferred the McNuggets.

As for any other chicken nuggets, like the ones from Burger King, I always found them disappointing, they're okay at best. Frozen store bought ones aren't that great either, but that is to be expected.

Obviously, though, nothing beats KFC for an occasional fast food treat when it comes to chicken. :f_love:

Inspired by our brief conversation yesterday, I picked up some vegan "chicken" nuggets for No Meat Tuesday tomorrow. Who knows, maybe they even come closer to the nuggets at McDonald's than ones with actual chicken - I doubt McDonald's uses 100% chicken, let alone some good parts of the animal, for their McNuggets.

I'll let you know how they turn out, of course. And today, I tried out a new recipe for Texas chicken quesadillas that I found the other day. I never had quesadillas before, so I figured it's time to fix that.

They contain onions that were fried with a tablespoon of honey, chicken that was fried with some barbecue sauce, and shredded cheddar, which I had to cut up from slices myself because I forgot to buy a pack of shredded cheese. It was also supposed to contain some Monterey Jack, but that one is tough to find in my backwater country. And I decided to add a little bit of fajita seasoning to the chicken too.

Here's how it looked before closing it up, and before baking the tortillas:

And here's how they look when they're ready:

For my first ever attempt at quesadillas, I was quite pleased, even though the tortillas were way to crispy, making them a bit difficult to eat. And I left them in the oven for just a little over half the suggested time. They still taste quite nice.

As I mentioned, I planned to make a vegetarian McDonald's menu for my No Meat Tuesday today. A homemade Big Mac with vegan fake meat patties, nine vegan fake chicken nuggets, and some french fries:

My verdict:

French fries: Well, nothing different about them, obviously, they were always vegan, but let me point out that they turned out quite well this time. :f_thumbsup:

Vegetarian Big Mac: One problem: Those vegan patties are pretty firm, making this one almost impossible to fit into my mouth, and a huge mess to eat. I probably would have been better off using a knife and fork. Taste was pretty good. I tried a different kind of fake meat patties today, which were all right too, and the sauce did the job of emulating the authentic Big Mac taste, which is all that matters, really.

Vegan fake chicken nuggets: I already suspected it last time...

They indeed tasted more like McDonald's nuggets than any other nuggets with real chicken that I ever had... make of that what you will. And considering that I usually like McNuggets, but rarely get them at McDonald's because they're not a very good value compared to the rest (not that I go to McDonald's that much at all anymore), this means that I was very positively surprised by their taste. I might get those only from now on, instead of actual frozen chicken nuggets.

So, here comes my meal now!

ItΒ΄s fart ... pardon...vegan Tuesday and I had a nice veggie-bowl with rice. Do I have to mention that weΒ΄re again dealing here with mussgo-veggies? :f_ugly:

Only if cooked in vegetable oil.

My sister-in-law and her husband owned a restaurant -- well several of them, but one at a time.
The fries were always cooked in lard, so definitely not vegan.

And it's Mrs Vorpal's birthday today.
I am such a romantic. I posted on her facebook, with a photo and these: πŸ’˜πŸŽ‚ πŸ₯³ πŸŽ‰ 🎈 πŸŽπŸ˜πŸ’‹β€οΈπŸ’•
I also got her a massively bright flashlight
I also got her a beautiful deep blue crystal pendant, but I'll give that to her later.

Mine were cooked in sunflower oil, according to the packaging, which also had a "vegan" label somewhere on it. And I simply cooked them in the oven later.

Not that it matters, because I'm simply avoiding meat on my Tuesdays. I'm not going full vegan like Prim.

The vegetarian Big Mac had some non-vegan sauce anyway.

Guess was not really creative on my vegan Tuesday, but I am always creative when it comes to mussgoes! :f_thumbsup:

We had mussgo-cabbage and I made a yummy Krautsalad. Had some for lunch with salmon and now for dinner IΒ΄m having it with deer-gyros.

By the way: Who farted? :sifflote:

Pretty much every human being, pretty much every day.

I live near a natural gas pipeline, and every so often it vents some gas.
Makes for some interesting conversation when we have guests over...

"Oh that?"
"That's just the gas pipeline venting"
"No not that gas pipeline, the one outside"

Today I have to point out that IΒ΄m proud of myself. The reason for that is that I again managed it to cook a yummy meal from the mussgoes. We had urgently mussgo yellow beet and I made a delicious yellow beet soup with corn.

Put all the mussgo yellow beet into the multi-cooker, added some potatoes and a little beef-salami. Let it cook 15 minutes under vapor pressure and then mashed everything. Added some sweet corn and some spices et voilΓ‘!

I've seen yellow beets, but never tasted them.
Do they taste the same, more-or-less?
