They always were. The little capsule inside, at least. The eggs around them are still chocolate and... milky stuff.

Wow -- the things you learn so late in life...
Last night's session wasn't great. Didn't start out in the perfect mindset, and then had to take rebuys in the Badugi and Courchevel. Courchevel mincashed, which didn't cover both bullets, and 8-Game finished a ladder above a mincash.
Badugi really needs to get better. But for now, let's focus on what's really important, like the second egg in our troll calendar. ![]()

Wonder what's inside... certainly not yet another repeat?
No, it's something from that new "Christmas messengers" series that was announced this year.
And look, it's Vorpal!

Also, check out this little note on the instructions sheet: Looks like there is some kind of mechanism to attach all the Christmas messengers we get to each other, so we can get our own little troll train going. ![]()

Here he is, readily assembled, in his little snowmobile. As you could see above, a little string was also included, so we could hang this figurine on a Christmas tree or anywhere else as an ornament, but I didn't bother with it yet.

And here he is plodding through what's left of yesterday's snow on my roof.

With our first figurine representing me and our second representing Vorpal, what will be next tomorrow? I certainly hope it's not nsavov's underpants...

They're in the one egg that he won't find

My wish was granted, kind of. Finally made an FT, and with good bounties too. Still, it could have been much better, I had a good chip lead at one point and really needed to make more out of it. Nevertheless, a 5th place with enough bounties to return $23.18 in total isn't a bad result after going through a minor dry spell. Too bad the other games didn't cash, but winning session. ![]()
Troll Calendar - Day 3
We finally drew a girly egg!
At least one of those that I had painted pink, I do hope that they actually are girly eggs and not regular ones in the wrong packaging?

Nope, looks like it's all good - we got a pony!
:f_love: ![]()

Unfortunately, this is another one I believe I had last year already. But it's still cute, isn't it?

It also came with a pair of wings that you can attach to its back to turn it into a pegasus or something.

Or alternatively, you could attach those wings to a little plastic ring that also came with it.

Last night's session was short and... not so sweet. Terrible mindset and completely unfocused, but that's how it goes sometimes - you can't always predict when real-life stuff will catch up with you in the middle of a session. Let's just say it was bad, and move on... to the Troll Calendar!
Troll Calendar - Day 4
We got another girly egg!
But, if you thought that means we would get another cute little figurine, you may be in for a surprise.

Seriously, what is this? A bunch of cardboard with pictures? Looks like it's supposed to be some kind of game in the end, but what exactly is it?
Turns out those cardboard stacks can be ripped into single pieces, forming what looks like miniature playing cards of sorts, depicting various African animals.

On closer inspection, it looks like they can be arranged in pairs, each depicting two characteristics or behaviors of the same animal, so it's educational too. The pairs are also color coded.

The other cardboard thing can be attached to that small plastic device, forming a spinning top of sorts, depicting the same animals as on the cards.

So how does this all work in the end? Here's what the instructions say:

From what I can gather, you put the cards face down, spin the spinning top, and then try to match two cards of the animal that was spun. So it's basically a game of "match two", or "Memory" as it is known in some parts, with the added element of having to spin the kind of pair you're supposed to uncover first.
The instructions don't make it clear what happens if you only manage to uncover one of the cards, but I imagine that much like in a normal game of "match two", both cards are simply returned to the board in this case, giving your opponent some information on where to find them later.
There is also an additional fourth step in the instructions, hinting at some online compatibility with a certain app. According to the back of the sheet, which also contains the VR code, it is called "Applaydu", and it seems to be some edutainment app for kids, specifically designed by Kinder to use with all those items from this series. Remember when I said that the contents of those Kinder Surprise eggs changed a little from when I was a kid?

Certainly a lot more complicated than all those cute figurines so far... But while we're at it, why don't we try this game out, which is sure to become the next big rec magnet on Pokerstars. We can do it right here:
Spoiler
All right, here comes the first spin...

It's an ostrich!

Now it's your turn, pick two cards from the layout:

Spoiler
If you picked these two, congratulations, your superior gambling instincts served you well again!

If you didn't, don't worry, you'll get another chance. Spin #2 rolled a crocodile.

Where is it? Pick two cards from the same layout as above. You now know which two not to pick.
Spoiler
If you were apathetic enough to just pick the first two cards, congrats, you were spot on!

Everyone else, don't worry - it's one big session.
An interesting game, similar to fizzbin, I believe.
It could also be a form of Calvinball

Yes, that's Prim's new avatar when she's crushing at PLO on Pokerstars, or crashing at Mario Kart when she's visiting me at home. ![]()
Welcome to the Troll family, Baby Peach.
Try not to fall off the table too much.

You sassy troll!!!!!!! ![]()
So, as everybody can guess, I really suck at Mario Cart - big time!
But it´s super funny and Baby Peach is adorable!! ♠_love:♠_love:♠_love: I always choose Baby Peach. ♠_love:♠_love:♠_love:
Unfortunately, my Baby Peach falls off the trees and rainbows and whatever a little bit too often :sifflote::sifflote:
But hey, she doesn´t suck at PLO! ♠_cool:
How did poker go yesterday? Pretty much like this. No games, not sure what will happen to my buy-ins, we'll see...

We got our answer today. ![]()

It's the next Christmas messenger, and it's one of Vorpal's trusty reindeer.
This one is a little more complicated to assemble, because it came with a little present box that is made of cardboard, not plastic.

Here he is assembled:

And here he is, together with the Vorpal figurine we got earlier:

The Troll train is getting larger already. ![]()

You're not doing that badly, we're just playing casually anyway, and not always too sober.
What would a visit at Harrier's be without some nice mixed drinks?
And I admit that this Rainbow track was a bit hard, it's not like I was doing much better at it. ![]()
The two of you are surely crushing PLO, though, and those winnings will certainly pay for whatever repairs are needed for your karts.
I received my refunds for those tournaments that got cut short without any problems.
And last night, everything was up and running again on Pokerstars, though my session almost made me wish it wasn't. Absolutely terrible stuff, almost nothing worked out, not even whine equity could save me this time. The only upside was a mincash in the Badugi, but without any bounties and after taking a rebuy. A bountyless mincash doesn't even cover the first bullet.
Let's do better next time. I tried a Courchevel Hi/Lo cash game, btw, and finished about break-even in the end. Another mostly good sign, I guess.
Troll Calendar - Day 6
It's St. Nicholas Day, which is commonly considered some kind of "Mini Christmas" for children in Germany. Kids would leave their boots outside and have St. Nicholas leave some presents inside it - if they were nice and all. ![]()
Surely, we'll get something special on this day, if nothing else just to make up for that crappy session last night...

It's the exact same thing we got yesterday...
Yeah, not much to see here, folks.

Though I'll admit, if we get eight of them, that would actually be kind of cool. Especially if we then get a ninth too, and paint his nose red.
Might as well take a look at that chocolate St. Nicholas I got in my shoe today, because I've been a nice troll this year, you know... ![]()

And yes, his appearance is heavily based on Santa Claus, even though they're technically considered two different people. Which is complicated, because Santa Claus was clear based in part on St. Nicholas, and yet the popular portrayal of Santa Claus ended up influencing our vision of St. Nicholas to the point that they are almost indistinguishable...
It's almost like Inception. Santaception.
