hi

i got a question does anyone else besides me use dark reader - browser addon, and got problems on pokerstrategy website,
so what i experience is when i have it running (addon) and go to pokerstrategy website i can clik maybe 2-3 links, not immediately i can even wait 5-10sec before clicking on next link and then will be 'disconnected'(i know that disconnection is not good word to describe it but rihgt now i cant find any better word) form pokerstrategy website
i assume its something like ddos protection , that too many request from same ip disconnecting it,
few years back i asked on this form that maybe make an option to make css white (default) and dark theme on they side (server side).
white theme really hurts my eye i use dark reader always and only on pokerstrategy i get that disconection.

i also use dark background and light text - browser addon (this addon dont make this disconnection problem) , but its not as good as dark reader in my opinion
i use firefox btw.
thank you

Exactly what add-on?
Is it this one: https://darkreader.org/
Author: Alexander Shutau

It was the only one I could find with that name.
(I also am using firefox)
Can you give an example of a link that you click that causes the crash.

I'll test this out over a few days to see if I can find out what's happening

Thanks for pointing this out -- I really prefer dark themes as well, but didn't know about this one.

It may not be PokerStrategy.com that is the problem.
I quite often open 20+ PokerStrategy.com pages at once, and occasionally the pages take an extremely long time to load, and occasionally don't load completely, but the rest of the time they work.

OK, let me know.
I just encountered a problem where some PokerStrategy.com pages did not load -- but they didn't load in Edge either.
I keep Edge completely clean of extensions, add-ons or themes for just such testing.

After a few minutes both FF with "Dark Reader" and Edge without it started loading pages again.

it is only on pokerstrategy my internet works and anyother websideds still working

Yes -- I have that problem at the moment as well.
The only problem is that I have the same problem on my phone and when using Edge browser with no themes or add-ons.

I re-booted my computer, and it worked fine for a bit, then didn't work for while, now it is working again.

I'm not convinced it is the add-on.

Later today I'll fire up my other computer and play a bit.

For the moment though, now that it is working I have a bunch of other forums to go through.

I suggest that you create a customer support ticket Follow the link then click the beside "Open a new ticket"
Give them all the details you can, perhaps the IT guys have an idea.

It might also be worthwhile contacting the author of Dark Reader.
I really like the add-on and it would be a shame to have to give it up now that I've found it.

I did notice though, that DR does take a fair bit of time to render pages even when it does work.
This makes sense since it must load each page, then re-do the theme.

What would be REALLY cool is if PokerStrategy.com would add a dark mode

thank you Vorpal for quick respond :)
so im not crazy person it happens to someone else.
im pretty sure it is interaction: pokerstartegy <==> dark reader addon

what i know if you use any ip change program (i got annonymx addon - forefox) the timeout is gone , so my idea is pokerstartegy website got some request limit/ time and if you somehow go above that limit your current ip will be 'banned' and you will see this timeout

i did just finish writing new ticket, thank you for link :)

totally agree dark reader addon is slow, especially on websids like pokerstatrategy where you got a lots of small items and you have to pull all that info in and on the fly start changing them, but for me its still better than looking at super bright screen , since my accident (eye scratched, few years back) , bright screen truly hurts me

TOTALLY AGREE they should make the option dark theme, look at youtube (2nd second largest search engine behind Google) they got that option, its not difficult to implement it that just adding another css and make 1 extra button to change between dark light

I'm not so sure about that.
I quite often review all the boards on PokerStrategy.com for unread posts, and to do that I open all 78 forum boards at once (using another add-on called tree-style tabs)
I'll follow up on this.
For the moment, I have uninstalled dark reader because I need to get to PokerStrategy.com reliably.

After I'm done with the forums for the day, I'll re-install it and run some more tests.

OK I'm convinced.
I re-enabled dark reader, and opened my usual 24 pages all on PokerStrategy.com
All opened fine.
All were rendered dark.

Fine.
I then went to open this post to reply to it.
First I got a Server not found error:

We can’t connect to the server at www.pokerstrategy.com.

I waited a few minutes and got "Problem loading page"

The connection has timed out

This happened again after another 5-minute wait.
Then after another it worked, and I'm typing this.

Like you said, I think that it fails when too many pages are opened in too short a time.

I haven't confirmed this, but it does appear that you were correct.

There was a major internet glitch yesterday.
See: https://www.macrumors.com/2021/06/08/fastly-cdn-server-issue-web-outage/

This may have contributed to Dark Reader's problems.
Just guessing though...

Interesting -- I didn't try it on brave, since I use Firefox for all my forum activity.
Brave is my default for everything else though.

The reason I use FF for the forums is that FF has an add-on available called "Tree Style Tab"
This puts all open tabs in a tree at the left-hand-side of the main window, and is supremely useful if you have a large number of related tabs open.
In case you're interested, here is the website for the add-on: https://piro.sakura.ne.jp/xul/_treestyletab.html.en

Vorpal thank you for the link i might check it out in the future :)

lately i want to try play around with some crypto, but i didnt want to invest any of my savings into it (for me they are way to volatile), so i was looking at how to get some crypto or tokens for free and there are few options one of them is brave browser , they got this BAT token for watching ads in brave , so i will give it a try, and besides that i if im already here i will test this addon(dark reader) ,

so today i satrted with FF and after 2-3clicks on pokerstrategy i got time out, immidietly then i open pokerstartegy in brave and in brave it was timed out as well at this time, so i waiter 30min and in brave i opened pokerstartegy and it works just fine no timeouts so far, so i open FF and check pokerstrategy and after several clicks timeout :)

from now on i will try to use only brave and see if it will timeout without using pokerstartegy on FF

The solution of course, is for PokerStrategy.com to had a dark theme option.
If you haven't already posted that feature request in Feedback and Suggestions, please do.

Cheers,
VS
