Every Little Bit Helps

Since my last update over two weeks ago, I've made a little progress.
Hampered by the fact that I don't play a lot on 888

It has been a while

I haven't played at all except for a freeroll now and again...

But I got back into it today with a $5,000 open freeroll and dug deep into the luckbox...

That was a Nice Surprise

I opened up 888 and noticed a red dot by "Rewards"
So I checked -- and there was not one, but three unclaimed cashback bonuses in there.

Nice. I've no idea how I earned them, but I'll take it.
As you can see, my balance is at $515.83 (I don't count the bonuses until they are turned into cash).
We're still down a wee bit from the all-time high of $520.80, but no complaints.

Looking for something to play while I finished off today's $3.30 NL 2-7 Single Draw PKO on Stars, I played a $1 PLO8 DoN on 888 -- and cashed.
Sadly, the tournament where I had my biggest win on 888 no longer runs -- it was a $3.00 PLO8 freezeout.

PLO8 went OK for a change today...

I made back nearly 1/2 a buy-in, to add to my freeroll winnings

As I mentioned we have a new record, so that requires a new graph...

Well that was a bit different...

This hand is a bit of a stretch -- Aces are nice, but in hi/lo split they don't often scoop -- and you need to scoop to win

Pacific Poker - $0.05 PL Hi/Lo - Omaha Hi/Lo - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

UTG: $3.22

SB posts SB $0.02, Hero posts BB $0.05, MP+2 posts penalty blind $0.07

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.14) Hero has 6♠:K♣:A♥:A♣:

UTG calls $0.05, UTG+1 calls $0.05, fold, fold, MP+2 checks, CO calls $0.05, fold, SB raises to $0.12, Hero raises to $0.58, << In a culture where no-one folds pre-flop, I decided to do my best to thin the field with a pot-sized raise.
UTG calls $0.53, UTG+1 calls $0.53, fold, fold, SB raises to $1.41 and is all-in, Hero raises to $5.51, UTG calls $2.64 and is all-in, UTG+1 calls $3.18 and is all-in<< which clearly didn't work. However, once SB is all-in, there is so much dead money, and the pot odds are so good there is nothing to do but throw more $ in

Flop: ($12.27, 4 players) 6♣:8♠:Q♣: << The two clubs are helpful, but there are two low cards out, so a split pot is a large possibility. 60% of all boards can make a low hand

Main Pot [$5.76]: (Pre 28%, Flop 19%, Turn 22%)
Side Pot#1 [$5.43]: (Pre 37%, Flop 49%, Turn 61%)
Side Pot#2 [$1.08]: (Pre 60%, Flop 61%, Turn 63%)

Hero wins $5.48
Rake paid $0.61
Hero wins $5.16
Hero wins $1.02

Looking over the equities, nobody was really out of line, and notice that I didn't have the best equity pre-flop.
But doesn't matter where you start, it is where you end up that counts.

Just for giggles,
I decided to put the hand into Equilab-Omaha to compare the equities to those that PT4 calculated.

That Was Funny

As I sat down to breakfast I realized I could late reg to a $200 freeroll.
OK fine, I can often win a hand or two and make the money, because so many players just shove-and-hope.

Ended up on the FT

I won $3.10, and as I said above (OK, I guess I didn't post that), I will use my freeroll winnings to enter regular MTTs
So I can play up to $3 worth of regular MTTs as well as the usual PLO8 cash.

I remember those Pokerstars freerolls where you could literally late reg into the money...

Hi marksumir,
Welcome to PokerStrategy.com :welcome:

I'm not sure what I recommended, but hey, you're welcome.

Here's some more recommendations...

Be sure to check out the free money offers and bonus offers.
Read the instructions carefully -- they usually apply to rooms where you don't already have an account.

What kind of games do you normally play?
Cash Games? Sit-and-Go? MTTs?
Do you just play Hold'em or do you play any other variants?

If you're totally new to poker, I recommend reading our No Limit Hold'em lessons overview articles first.
That article leads you through the basics and beyond.
It is even recommended if you've played a while _biggrin:

If you have any questions, just post them in the Q&A forum.

All the best,
VS

When you're down to your last few chips, it is surprising how often that final shove wins...
Today, twice in the same tournament...
