A9s - Extracting the most value?

When villain raise flop he says to have 9x and maybe strong Jx as value. Semibluffs will be some of oesd and possibly gutshots.

You don't necessarily want to 3bet anything on flop as villain raise is with polarised sort of range.

Turn is bit worrisome as it complete T8. I would call turn again to keep villain range wider. We are still stacking off good amount of rivers as villain can also value bet river with weaker trips and potentially have some bluffs like QT or Q8s type.

But consider folding some of the worst rivers that weaken your relative hand strength.

Thanks ghaleon. I think you've captured the essence of my problem here.

I feel like I am often losing value in these spots by chasing out the weaker hands by trying to protect my hand too often / too aggressively. This leaves me up against the stronger hands in villains range so it seems like they "have it" more often than I would expect... this leads me to winning a lot of little pots, but losing more of the big pots then I should.

So if I understand correctly, I need to be more vulnerable in order to realize more value... so probably more calling (instead of raising) and maybe smaller bet-sizing adjustments to get weaker hands to call instead of fold. By trying to keep villains range wide, I accept the risk that more of my hands will get cracked by the river, but overall I should be extracting more value.

Am I on the right page?

Every spot is somewhat different and there are aspects of protection of course. Like in this spot if there was flush draw on flop we could go more eagerly for flop 3bet or turn shove. Of course villain might have turned flush draw but it's relatively rare possibility.

So to keep villain range wider and protect my calling range I would prefer call. Especially as turn complete one very viable draw our hand strength has gone down as well.
