Five Card Draw Shoot-out
There will be no more Troll Challenges this weekend because I will be busy with my final American football match this year. We also couldn't get to the non-poker thing we planned this week, but don't worry, the Trolls are still full of ideas and we should be back to ♠_ugly: "normal" 
next week.
To compensate a little, we did a somewhat special version of our Five Card Draw Shoot-out today. In addition to the $4.40 MTT we were playing according to our standard rules, we also added the PL Five Card Draw $3.30 MicroMillions event. 
Since that one isn't a PKO, our challenge was simply "last longer" in that event, and if a Troll wins one and loses the other, today's challenge will be a tie.
We started with our standard $4.40 MTT, and guess what? The trolls were at the same table. 
I had a slightly better start, but look what happened when I tried to steal from Prim, who was in the big blind:

Just like in real life, when Prim gets going, you better get out of there. 
That left her in a pretty good position, but I was the one who managed to isolate a shorty later on to collect my first bounty. Prim, meanwhile, continued to play well, but ended up being pretty card dead again soon. She almost reached ITM, but in the end, it wasn't meant to happen. Since I had made a bounty and she hadn't, however, that left me as the winner of this round according to our rules.
Next round was the MicroMillions event, and yet again, I had the better start - except for that very first hand, where I was dealt trip aces and had two people drawing 1 in front of me, one hit a straight and the other a flush... since it was pot limit, I managed to get out relatively cheaply by just calling in position, though.
Prim still couldn't catch a break, unfortunately. First she wisely dodged drawn trip Kings against her predraw trip eights, then she ran another predraw trip eights against a drawn flush (I think? some made draw, at least), and finally, she got predraw trip aces and ran them into a pat full house... 
Poker really isn't treating this poor puppy nicely recently... but we are, right? 
Before that, she even got slightly ahead of me in terms of chips, and I soon found myself almost hopelessly shortstacked - but somehow managed to double-up and then bluff my way through it until I finally had a decent stack again. I was on pace for ITM, but it wasn't quite enough. Finished 161st out of 890 with 132 paid.
Despite the loss, this left me as the winner of today's Troll Challenge.

It should also be mentioned that our current Troll of the Year VorpalF2F was in the MicroMillions event, and he did quite well! 
I noticed him in the top 20 or so in the lobby at one point with an impressive stack as we were nearing ITM. Even though I had his table open since then, I didn't quite catch what happened, because he eventually had to leave the tournament before me. His final placement was 175th, but still, great job, fellow troll!
The other Trolls will be back next week with further challenges, now that the series is tied at 4-4 again. Stay tuned.

About time for another Troll Challenge, after the largely poker-less weekend. I've been meaning to get to it for a while, but it was finally time for our first "Gaming Challenge". The game of choice was Golf With Your Friends, which I bought for the two of us last week during the Halloween sale on Steam.
As the name implies, the premise of the game is simple: It's golf - more like miniature golf, to be more exact. We originally wanted to play some for real during our last live meetup, after all. The courses in this game tend to be a bit more wacky than any you would encounter in real life, of course.
So the motto of today's challenge was essentially Blind Golf, not because we were playing blindfolded, but because I made sure that neither of us had played that game before as we were going in, not even to test if it would run, in order to make it more fair. This meant that both of us had to figure out the controls when we were starting to play, but as expected, they were pretty intuitive.
This was one challenge that would have been a bit more interesting if we had actually streamed it - and we may get into that at one point. For now, I'll just show you a video to see what the game that we played looked like. We played the same forest course as in the video, it seems to be the standard one.
We may get to the more complicated courses later, and try some different rule customizations. For our first blind challenge, here is the result:

There may be another Five Card Draw Shoot-out tomorrow, we're not sure yet because of the NA/EU difference when it comes to daylight savings time, but apart from that, there should be plenty of poker action this weekend.

Yes, that was Hole 7, which you can see in the video. Looks like you can potentially get a hole-in-one by playing a skillful shot right through the middle, which should then drop down to the hole below. Alternatively, you could hit one of the two slopes next to it and try to sink it within the next few strokes.
Both of us trolls weren't sure where the hole was in the beginning, so we both went straight ahead and overshot our first strokes, which landed out of bounds. I eventually figured it out and managed to get to the hole via the slopes, while Prim stayed determined and kept blasting the ball away, assuming that the true hole must be located somewhere over the hill.
Not sure about the second hole you're talking about, but I know that you got trolled on the final one, which is played around that sawmill - the one that kept spitting out logs which knocked your ball off the course.By the way, one of the local miniature golf tracks in my area is advertised as a "4D golf course". Not sure what that means, but I imagine that it could be a little like the courses we saw in the game, so maybe we can play a real life version soon?
Five Card Draw Shoot-out
Well, we had to hurry a little, but we did make it to our Five Card Draw MTT, which now began about an hour earlier than usual. No hands to be saved this time, I watched Prim's progress, and we both were pretty close to each other in terms of chips for the most part. I seemed to have more playable hands, which briefly resulted in more chips, but also went bluffcatching a few times, which negated those progresses again.
Eventually, Prim managed to pick off not just one, but two players in some wisely chosen spots. I still had more chips, but bluffcatching and cooler spots soon took care of it. I got out without any bounties, and while Prim was then card dead and failed to make ITM, she handily defeated me in our Shoot-out yet again.
There should be some Courchevel Hi-Lo tomorrow evening. I'm looking forward to it, as I haven't played it in a while, whereas Prim has never played it at all, as far as I know, but I imagine that she should be pretty good at it, given her experience with PLO8, and her good results in that format.
We did play some Courchevel Hi-Lo tonight, as part of both of our evening tournament sessions. It looked like an early exit for me, at which point I realized that we never discussed whether rebuys are allowed as part of our challenge. While it would have been rather cheap to decide this in the middle of our game after busting out, it turned out to be unnecessary, as I soon managed to double-up and later got back to a good stack.
Prim, on the other hand, busted out a few minutes later and already announced before that she was not going to rebuy, regardless of the rules of our challenge. I kept playing and while it looked good, I ended up finishing right on the bubble after a rather careless play.
So I did last longer, but since this was the first time ever that Prim played this game, I decided that like with the PLO8 two weeks ago that we introduced on short notice, we should count it as a practice game and leave the official Troll Challenge score at 5-5. Next Saturday, we shall play for real, which gives us plenty of time to decide under which rules we're going to challenge each other. And the gloves will be off in tomorrow's HORSE race, of course.

Yes, that is Prim's luck lately. Card dead for long stretches, and when she does get a good hand, like this 234 in Razz, she gets terrible run-outs like this.
We both took a rebuy in the HORSE race, I took mine earlier, but in the end, Prim's terrible stretch continued, and it came to nothing in this tournament. There's no getting around it, she is on a huge downswing. I've been there before - I think we all have - so we know how she feels. I also know that Prim is a very competitive person, so these kinds of things especially get to her. Moreover, I know that she is under a bit of real life stress at the moment, and that she is going through a motivation crisis when it comes to poker in general.
Our next scheduled poker challenge would be next weekend at the earliest anyway, but given the situation, I think a small hiatus when it comes to our plan might be in order. Prim has to get her mojo back first when it comes to poker, and it currently just doesn't make sense to throw her into those unfamiliar games in such a situation. MTTs in general would be a poor fit, I believe. It's better to start small with some casual PLO cash games, with the classic "less is more" approach, and before that, a complete break may be a good idea.
Don't you guys think that those nice pots in your kitchen are safe now, though - Prim will be back. But she needs to get some stuff in order first, and that should take precedence. In the meantime, there may be other fun challenges, but we'll take it easy with those too. Also, while my earlier picks have always been discussed with Prim before, I think it's time that she picks some things for the Trolls to do herself.
As for the HORSE race, Harrier won, and of course we're going to count it this time, for a narrow 6-5 lead, but as I said, Prim will be back.

It´s not only the downswing, I am furious! Terribly furious, incredibly sad and horribly scared! I can´t believe what happens here in Germany, it´s a living nightmare (no further discussion please, just want to mention this)!
And my "great luck" in poker doesn´t help to improve my mood. But somehow I have to get through this. A little break does good, I think. We should all take care of ourselves. Let´s do a little less, quality before quantity. ♠_thumbsup:
