A Long Day, But Strangely, I finished in Profit

Helped out by two deep freeroll runs
Well, deep for me — an $11.00 2nd tier cash, and $3.20 for a top 2% finish, and a mincash.
Add a hand-of-the-day reward or two, and they all more than offset the $11.00 I tossed away playing NL 5

I was doing OK until I ran top pair, top kicker with a nut flush draw into a set of 8s

Oh well...

In two days, I'll be at level 100, and we'll see if that amounts to anything.

Current BR: $829.34
Record: $854.18

Not Such a Good Day

But a lovely 100BB suckout

First the suckout...
Definitely overplayed, but these guys can shove two overcards, so I called — oops
Pacific Poker - $0.05 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: $5.00
SB: $0.53
BB: $7.15
UTG: $5.23
Hero (MP): $8.44
CO: $5.67

SB posts SB $0.02, BB posts BB $0.05

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.07) Hero has A♥:K♠:

fold, Hero raises to $0.15, CO raises to $0.45, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $1.80, CO calls $1.35

Flop: ($3.67, 2 players) 8♥:6♣:5♦:
Hero bets $2.42, CO raises to $3.87 and is all-in, Hero calls $1.45

Turn: ($11.41, 2 players) T♦:

River: ($11.41, 2 players) K♥:

Hero shows A♥:K♠: (One Pair, Kings)
(Pre 44%, Flop 26%, Turn 14%)
CO shows J♠:J♥: (One Pair, Jacks)
(Pre 56%, Flop 74%, Turn 86%)
Hero wins $10.74
Rake paid $0.67

So I eneded in profit in the NL 5 — and I played some NL 2 as well, and picked up a few cents there,
But down 3 BI in PLO8 5 — tons of great starting hands, but no runouts

Just an Afterthought

I late reg'd tonight's Green freeroll, and picked up a double-up early on
From then nothing,
Then just after the bubble burst, in the SB with less than 1BB left I get 5♥:3♦:

I am not permitted to whine about my luck for a full week

NL 5 went really well today
For an example of how the day went, have a look at https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?postid=3294674#post3294674

Here's the Hold'em Giraffe
(we won't talk about PLO8 today _cry: 🤮😭 )

I played a single table of NL 5 Snap (888's version of fast-fold) while playing the usual freerolls and PLO8 5
A couple of observations:
:diamond:  Playing with a 600BB stack in fast-fold poker is fun!
:diamond:  When you have a huge stack relative to the rest of the field you have almost unimaginable fold equity — and it is so easy to fold to 3Bets
:diamond:  There is a bit of "The Fastest Gun in the West" behaviour from the 100BB stacks, who think that they can out draw me. Let them try! [1]
:diamond:  I played much tighter than normal pre-flop, and because my hand selection was of higher quality, I had many more opportunities to bet for value post flop. Many opponents died thinking I was bluffing, and I was sure to show a few bluffs to help them think that.

[1] An example of 77 trying to muscle a 200BB stack pre-flop

Evil!

The problem with being very tight is ...
:diamond:  You get few hands that you can play multi-way (I play PLO8 9-handed on 888)
:diamond:  When you do get a playable hand, and hit a flop, opponents just fold if you bet, and you're struggling with low equity if you don't
:diamond:  Equities run close in PLO8, and if you totally miss the flop, there is no alternative but to give up.

And so it happened again yesterday — I lost over 7 stacks, and recovered only two of 'em.
So I shaved over 27 dollars off my record

Current bankroll: $844.77

Interesting Spot

The hand itself is unremarkable — it is just that I am 52 off the money here, and only one player behind me can cause problems — I raise hoping to have the pot to myself — or to get called by worse.
If I lose — I'm out, but I can't see folding ever.

Suddenly, I'm the idiot

because I called his pot-sized bet without the nuts
However this guy is a well-known hyper aggro bluffer, so why not?[1]

Week 27 Results

Played from 2022-01-30 to 2022-02-05 (Week 5)

Cash — Increased the PLO8 volume:
Also added some more NL 5 and NL 10 as a trial
  Stake  Hands     +/-

 PLO8 5   1694  -54.44

  Total   2519  -46.04
Misc amounts come from Hand-of-the day rewards less adjustments made because 888 can't seem to write hand histories correctly, although I have partially automated the correction for those hands.
The problem hands are all split-pot hands where all players but one fold the river. In that situation, the amounts are not written correctly to the HH file.

A Nice Finish

One of my best recently in a large field tournament
As you can see, I was chip leader at one point.

Ended 16th...

and for the first time in a while, we were in profit in both PLO8 and NL 5

Payback!

I played a blast ticket with a 5x multiplier, and on the first hand two players were all-in
I had J8o, so just folded.
On the next 4 hands opponent took the full time allotment and I could not challenge with my 76o, 84s, 54s or 42s
So I entered the forced-all-in segment about a 3:1 underdog
Here is what happened...
Hand #1:

(Pre 45%, Flop 45%, Turn 27%)
Hero shows 7♣:Q♠: (One Pair, Eights)

Hand #2:
Pacific Poker - 2500/5000 Ante 452 NL (3 max) - Holdem - 2 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

Hero (SB): 452

0 player posts ante of 452, Hero posts ante 452 and is all-in, BB posts ante 448 and is all-in

Pre Flop: (pot: 896) Hero has 7♣:3♣:

Flop: (896, 2 players) 9♣:J♥:T♣:

Turn: (896, 2 players) 6♣:

Yikes!

This was the week I was supposed to turn it around — but down 4 buy-ins already 121 hands in...

In one I called a pot-sized bet in PLO8 with second nut flush and no low on board — opponent had nut flush of course.

But this one stung...

The Disaster Continues

And I'm going to declare that I am officially on tilt
It pretty much happens that if I bet at any point, I either get the pot right there. If I get raised, I can fold, but that almost never happens (the raising I mean).
I usually get called.
At that point, I've lost the hand — opponent either has me beat already, or I get outdrawn by the river.

Wow, looks like all the trolls are on a "solidarity downswing" right now...

It can only get better, I suppose. For all of us.

I ran "Leaktracker" tool from PT4 against my NLHE play for this month.

Everything was more-or-less within range except this section:

I say "more-or-less" because "CBet Turn" and "Fold to Turn Bet" are both way too low, as is "CBet Flop"

I'll play another thousand hands tomorrow and look for opportunities to correct those situations.
Oh yeah — and I will be very, very careful playing vs players with small stacks. If they play a hand, the almost always hold a pocket pair that either a) hits a set or b) holds vs my overcards. Oh yeah, and they never fold them either...
