Final table in the Badugi - which was surprising, because I had a very bad start in there. I wish I could have gotten more out of it, but a 6th place for $17.81 including bounties will have to do. My opponents managed to hit their draws in one or two key situations to prevent a bigger cash, nothing I could do there.
This hand, from the final table, was a bit annoying too. I drew 3 cards, but couldn't get any players in my 4-way pot to call, not even for one more round? Come ooooooooooon...

I was also able to cram quite a few SNGs in today, including four Courchevel games, where I only managed to get two 2nd places, the other ones lost. Five Card Draw, however, went much better. I also played four SNGs there, but three of them cashed, of which two were outright shipped. This even included a $5 game, where I was only able to make a 2nd place this time.
It still meant some nice returns for the day, and we even made a bit of a milestone, because we cracked $100 in Five Card Draw profits since I picked it back up in October. 
It took us 62 days of playing to get there, for a current daily profit of $1.77. At this rate, Five Card Draw is a worthy side game for sure.
Some more "good, but not great" results today. Badugi finished 13th with decent bounties for $11.79. A shorty with a good bounty went all-in in my exit hand, with two people in front of me already wanting a shot at him. I pushed hard with my J-Badugi in what ended up being a 4-way pot. They were all drawing, but one of the players in front of me hit on the first draw. My hand was too rough for a realistic redraw, so I could only stand and hope for the very slight off chance that my opponent stood on something worse, which wasn't the case.
Three out of five 5CD SNGs cashed, but with only one 1st place - and also an annoying 3rd place, which could have been my fourth cash today. This means some further winnings of $3.41 from there. Again - good, but not great. I did very poorly in the two Courchevel SNGs I played, however, and while I should still be in profit in this format, I don't feel confident in it anymore. I may drop these games to focus more on 5CD.
FL 5CD cash saw a loss today, btw, about a buck. Didn't get a whole lot of good hands.

Yes, I'm aware of them, and Prim and I actually played one of them last December as part of our challenge. 
As you said, they are fixed limit, so I tend to ignore them, but my modest success (2nd place) in the SNG we played for the challenge did encourage me a little to try out FL Badugi cash after all, though I didn't follow up on it too much. It's still on my radar.
I definitely don't have any plans to grind those SNGs. Even if I was good at them, I noticed that they take a long time, so they wouldn't be worth it. They also have seriously bad traffic.
The bigstack bully at the final table tonight sure picked a bad spot here to try to muscle me out of the pot.

He recovered, though - partially because of some questionable moves on my part, including a failed snowing attempt (he turned down the aggression a bit after losing his big stack). It didn't look good for me for a while, but when it mattered, I still eventually got my cards, and I ended up playing heads-up against that same player. That didn't last long either, because I once again nailed my draw right when I needed it - we shipped it!!! ♠_drink: First one of the new year! 
Payout including bounties was $117.08. This brings us within spitting distance of my bankroll target already:
Once we reach it, I'm still not entirely sure if I should finally start playing for monthly withdrawals again, or if I should try to build my bankroll even further, maybe to $3K. Thing is, my grinding plans have changed ever since I set myself that goal, I originally wanted to take shots at higher stakes 8-Game MTTs, for which I currently have no plans, since I haven't played 8-Game for a while, I feel like I'm out of practice.
I think I will simply start including some more games into my grind, like Five Card Draw MTTs, for example. If they go well, we should soon be pretty close to $3K anyway. If they go poorly, I would have a fair bit of bankroll rebuilding to do, so the situation would take care of itself either way.
In any case, the month has just started, so I should have plenty of time to think it through.

I always dread the decision of whether or not to break a high Badugi, especially if the other three cards give you a decent draw.
In this situation, both short stacks had decent bounties on their heads as we were nearing the final table. When I hit my K-Badugi on the second draw, I pretty much gave up on the super shorty who was already standing pat, and just tried to take down the side pot, ideally against another player who would call me with an incomplete hand and miss their draw.
When they all folded and I was left with the shorty alone, I considered drawing... but then somehow felt that I should just go for it with my current hand. Check it out:

I ended up with another surprising final table, after struggling to even stay in the game somehow ever since the bubble broke. I almost managed to get something started there, but couldn't get past 8th place after all. Payout was $14.57 including bounties.
I didn't feel ready to add any higher stakes games yet, so I tried another $1.10 8-Game, which had a guarantee of $200 again, at least tonight. I did not do well at all, but rebought despite a relatively late exit, figuring that it's mostly just for practice anyway. This one, however, went a lot better... so well, in fact, that I made yet another final table, finishing 5th for $13.98. There was even potential for a lot more, but I got quite unlucky at the FT.
Five Card Draw also went well. All three SNGs that I played cashed, and two of them were shipped. And we're even inching a little closer to break-even in OFC again. Really some amazing progress recently.
I do definitely notice a decline in my quality of play on Saturdays, so I should really make a decision to take it slow on these days, and maybe only play SNGs, together with whatever Prim and I are playing as part of our Troll Challenges. The PLO8 from that challenge bricked, and so did my $1.10 8-Game, though both were not far from the money. 8-Game was unlucky too, I got my chips in good in a Stud hand and got outdrawn on 7th street. Badugi was a 14th place finish, but without any bounties, so I only got $6.21 out of it.
My SNGs went a bit better, though especially the first one was quite frustrating. I have seen some astonishing chip&chair comebacks in there, both from me and from other players, but in this situation, I was a low-ish stack together with one big stack and a 1BB shorty on the bubble, and somehow, the shorty came back and outlasted me - by hitting trips three times in a row! 
I believe the first two were drawn, the third one was predraw.
The other two SNGs at least cashed, though without any first places. One of them was a $5 game too, nice that I finally managed to get one to run. Therefore, I was still able to bring in a small profit, despite not bringing my A-game tonight. Maybe we get a bit more going tomorrow.
Yakuman!
I had some idle minutes tonight, and couldn't find any OFC tables, so I tried another quick round of mahjong... and just casually picked up a yakuman to end the game.
To reiterate, because I haven't posted about this stuff in around a year: Mahjong hands are scored using "han" (think of them as value points). Certain spectacular combinations are worth a maximum value, basically making them this games version of a Royal Flush in poker - which means that you of course need to post about them whenever you get them.
This one was a "Kazoe Yakuman", or counted yakuman. It simply occurs when you manage to score 13 or more han with any regular hand, in which case you just automatically get the maximum value.
Let's break it down: My hand is all in one suit, making it a full flush, but more on that later. First off, my combination is 1-2-3, 4-5-6, 7-8-9, 7-8-9 and a pair of 55.
It's all in one suit, so it's a chinitsu (full flush), and also closed (no tiles taken off opponent's discards). 6 han
It's also a sequence from 1-9, making it an ittsu (full straight), and yet again closed. 2 han
I drew it myself with a closed hand, earning me an addition point. 1 han
I have two identical sequences of 7-8-9, called an iipeikou. 1 han
The 4 of circles is the dora, and I have one of them. 1 han
I have two red fives, both counting as extra dora. 2 han
This being three player mahjong, I have set aside two North winds, which then also count as dora. 2 han
Count them together: We have 15 han, easily enough for a maximum value hand, for which we only needed 13.
The 33,600 points I got for that hand were enough to bust one player out, ending the game, and severely cutting into the remaining player's stack too, resulting in a $4.07 profit.
That was well worth staying up for on a Saturday night.

All right, now that we have some money in the bank and got a couple more options open, let's take a closer look at what we can play, and where we want to be.
Right now, we are clearly on an upswing, and I'm aware that things won't keep going like this in the long run. Similarly, when things are going poorly, like during the first half of last year, it can be tempting to think that things will never pick up again, but that's not true either. The truth is somewhere in between: You have upswings and downswings, and somewhere in between the two is your "true" expected winrate for the long term.
Badugi will stay for sure. Currently, our ROI in there would be at 80.73% over 441 games since 2020, and this includes some bad and long-lasting downswings, so I think this number is sustainable. With those kinds of expected returns, the $4.40 per evening are a good investment.
Five Card Draw SNGs are currently cruising at an ROI of 52.39% this year over 18 games, or 34.38% over 46 games ever since I picked them back up at the end of last year. I highly doubt those numbers are sustainable, but the 26.92% ROI I had last year over 28 games, which also included a bit of a downer, could be more realistic. Let's put it at 25% and assume we can play four SNGs at $2 per game, resulting in expected returns of $2 per day. Not bad for a side game. If we then also assume that we can add some $5 games every now and then or occasionally play more than four games per day, it looks even better.
So this takes care of the games I'm grinding already, what about any new ones?
It seems like the tournament schedule on Pokerstars has not changed in any significant way, so my options remain more or less the same as last year. In the afternoon, there would be a $3.30 Stud8, which would require a big amount of studying for me to gain any kind of competitive edge. There is a $7.50 Courchevel Hi-Lo, which is a format where I had only modest returns so far, so probably still not a good choice. Then there is the $11 8-Game... now I've done all right in the $1.10 tournaments in the evening, where I would currently have an ROI of 83.25% over 176 games since 2020, but that has a lot to do with the player pool at that limit, I believe. But maybe I could achieve an ROI of around 20% or so in these higher games, if I study some formats a little more? At $11, this would mean $2.20 in expected returns per game. Not bad... if it can be achieved.
Then there are Five Card Draw MTTs. They didn't go too well last year, but by now, I should have gained more experience through my SNGs. In 2020, I started out with great success in the MTTs, followed by a long downswing that made me eventually drop them. My ROI was 44.55% that year over 73 games, and it would be 32.71% over 96 games if we include the ones from last year too. Considering the massive downswings I've been going through, I think an ROI in the 30s should be sustainable. At $7.50 for the evening games, and some slightly higher stakes available, this could mean some decent returns already.
If we want to aim even higher, there are also $27 8-Game MTTs in the evening. If I could gain an edge there, that could be huge... But let's see if we can establish a foothold in the lower limits first.
This should more or less be it, when it comes to my options for mixed games MTTs. Nothing in there that would come close to playing "for a living", unless I somehow managed to absolutely crush the high 8-Games, but with the right combinations, we might be able to get expected returns of a few hundred dollars per month, if we "play our cards right", quite literally.
As for studying, I think I got most of the theory down for Badugi and Five Card Draw, now it's more about putting it into practice. FL Hold'em and Stud8 would require the most effort, I think. And possibly Omaha Hi-Lo too - which may potentially perhaps even be an MTT option, who knows...

I used to avoid Saturdays when I found I lost significantly more on that day.
I put it down to the possibility that the weaker players were playing more on the weekends, and I was trying too hard to exploit them.
When I started to treat all players with a little respect I did better.

I clearly feel that I tend to be a bit unfocused playing on Saturday evenings, and often catch myself making bad plays, so I'm pretty sure it's mostly about me, not my opponents. Sundays, on the other hand, were my biggest winning days by far last year.
Those are my 2021 statistics about it (MTTs only). The red line marks the average.
This year, so far, both Saturday and Sunday are losing days for me. Friday is about break-even, which, interestingly, was also the case last year. Naturally, I don't have a sample yet for 2022. And I also don't have a decent one yet for Five Card Draw SNGs and cash games, which did not follow this pattern so far.

In the end, however, it was for naught. No cash, no bounty. This time, I did not get the cards when they mattered most.
Five Card Draw to the rescue. I played three SNGs and shipped two of them, including one where I entered the heads-up phase with a little over a big blind, if I remember correctly. The $7.74 in profit I got from there, combined with the small cash in the HORSE race from our Troll Challenges, still make it a profitable day.
Another update regarding my weekday statistics:
I did the same analysis with my stats from 2020, and came to much different results:
The situation was much different back then, of course. Among other things, there were the unprecedented Covid-lockdowns and that job I had where I was working some strange shifts. Also, I didn't do my "sabbath" ritual on Saturdays until late in the year. Still, much different findings in there, so there might be more to it than I thought.
My regular followers won't know this, but I've had a lot more time for poker in the last few weeks because there was no sports practice for me on Monday and Wednesday evenings due to severe local lockdown rules - for unvaccinated people, at least. I received the message on short notice today that things are back to normal for the time being, so off to practice I went. My first practice after my break just happened to be a dedicated tackling session, of course. I'm okay, though. And I'll have more of the same ahead of me next Wednesday.
That means some less time for poker than before, but it won't be dramatic, things will just be back to normal. As for poker, I did try to get an afternoon session of sorts in. 5CD SNGs around that time are nothing new, and today, I also tried one of those $4.40 PKO MTTs, also Five Card Draw. I actually had second thoughts about regging a few minutes before the start, but couldn't undo it anymore by that time.
The SNGs were not amazing. Both of them cashed, but only 2nd places, and they could have gone a lot better. One heads-up phase was especially annoying, where my opponent, who started out with a worse stack, kept limping in, but always seemed to have a good hand, usually two pair or better.
I already noticed when I got back from some errands in town just before my session that this may not be the best of days for me. The MTT actually had a good start, where I collected two bounties and a good stack early on, then things turned sour again. Few playable hands, and the ones I had always got re-raised by better ones - and when not, my opponents simply improved to better hands. It's just standard variance, we all know it from all kinds of formats, but it really got on my nerve that day.
Returning from practice tonight, I tried a $7.50 MTT, with a similar story. Good start, weak finish, bad luck in between. Then there were the SNGs, oh boy... I think this hand illustrates most of my day at the tables quite nicely - and it was even against the same player who trolled me with his "limp and win" strategy heads-up earlier that day:

You think it's just as easy as waiting for some good hands against these kinds of players? You think that drawing 2 after such a line most likely implies trips, and that trip Queens should be in good shape against most of them? Turns out it was just a cat hop, and it hit yet again...
So it wasn't really meant to be today, I guess, though a 2nd place in my third and final SNG of the night still put me into slight profit in the SNG department, at least - where we should have cracked $100 in overall profit since November, btw.
