Easy Chips

When you're playing NL Hold'em against someone who has no idea how to play, he may push something like Q5os, thinking that "it might hit something"... and it just might.

When you're playing lowball against these kinds of players - and have previously identified them as such - it could instead look a little like this:

PokerStars, $1.72 + $0.28 - 2-7 Triple Draw Limit (8-Game) - 15/30 - 6 players
Hand delivered by CardsChat

UTG (Hero): 2,235 (75 bb)
MP: 990 (33 bb)
CO: 840 (28 bb)
BU: 1,965 (66 bb)
SB: 1,680 (56 bb)
BB: 1,290 (43 bb)

Deal: (45) Hero is UTG with 2 3 4 J 4
Hero raises to 60, MP calls 60, CO calls 60, 2 players fold, BB calls 30

Draw One: (255) 2 3 4 9 A (4 players)
BB draws 4, UTG (Hero) draws 4h Jc, MP draws 1, CO draws 3
BB checks, Hero bets 30, MP calls 30, CO raises to 60, BB folds, Hero calls 30, MP calls 30

Draw Two: (435) 2 3 4 9 7 (3 players)
UTG (Hero) draws Ac, MP draws 1, CO draws 1
Hero bets 60, MP calls 60, CO calls 60

Draw Three: (615) 2 3 4 9 7 (3 players)
UTG (Hero) stands pat, MP stands pat, CO draws 1
Hero bets 60, MP calls 60, CO raises to 120, Hero raises to 180, MP calls 120, CO raises to 240, Hero calls 60, MP calls 60

Total pot: 1,335

Showdown:
CO shows K Q T J 9 (a straight, Nine to King)
UTG (Hero) shows 2 3 4 9 7 (9-7-4-3-2)
MP mucks 3 2 4 A 5 (a straight, Ace to Five)
UTG (Hero) wins 1,335

He stood pat with a 5-high straight?
Foolish mortal — I wonder if he even knew which game he was playing

Actually, both of my opponents demonstrated that they didn't know, as they had been consistently drawing to high hands before - which is why I was happy to cap the pot against them as soon as I had something as decent as 9-low.

And technically, an A-5-4-3-2 would be considered an A-low in 2-7 Triple Draw. I assume my converter erroneously displayed it as an ace to five straight.

I'm ashamed of myself for getting that wrong. I can't count how many times I pointed out that exact thing on stream
