Advent Schnitzel

A custom at my place now. :f_grin:

Today, I went for a chicken schnitzel for once. With pepper-cream sauce and chanterelle mushrooms.

I thought that the "schnitzel" part referred to a thin slice of meat β€” I didn't know that chicken was included.

Well, in this case, it was just a thin slice of chicken.

Authentic Wiener schnitzel is always made with veal.

It's amazing how much one can learn on a poker forum.

Key word being "authentic", of course. Many places sell "Vienna-style" schnitzel made of pork instead. I believe they need to specifically label it that way too if it's not the real thing.

But yes, a proper Wiener schnitzel needs veal.

IΒ΄ve been on a diet for about 10 days. And today, I started a discussion about cannibalism with Harrier. :f_ugly::f_ugly::f_biggrin: Okay, guess itΒ΄s time to eat a little bit more? :f_ugly::f_ugly:

It's... not what it sounds like. :f_ugly: Or I suppose it is. We were just briefly talking about some known instances from history. Not sure how we got to that topic, but yes, Prim probably needs to eat more. :f_wink:

Vegetarian days can be cruel at this part of the month... :f_frown:

But yes, on the subject of cannibalism, I do like eating fish very much. :f_grin:

In my younger days, when waiting to be seated at restaurants, I would give my name as "Donner" just so I could hear the hostess say, "Table for the Donner party" 🀣 It rarely happened...

:f_biggrin: Nice one. Yes, that was one of the instances we were talking about.

That, and the one with the Uruguayan rugby players crash landing in the Andes. I guess those are among the two most infamous cases.

Oh, and I now remember how we got to that topic.

When Prim and I went to a steakhouse together on Monday, she was perusing the menu and asked me about the "Flank Steak" (written in English there), wishing to know which part of the animal was used for that.

The next day, when we were talking on Skype, Prim complained about her own "flanks", and I told her something like "Remember that flank steak on the menu yesterday? That is where it's coming from", and she said that she would gladly donate some of her "meat" there. :f_ugly:
