Wouldn't that be a fine Christmas market without any mulled wine? If there is one item on our list that we definitely need to do, it's this.
We will use a dry red wine for it.

Half a liter should do it, I don't have that many people to serve at home right now.

We will also cut one orange into slices. "Bio" oranges are recommended, because we will also use the peels for our mulled wine, so they should be edible.

But first, we should heat up the wine a little. It is important not to bring it to a boil, or else the wine may turn bitter. Just heat it a bit.

We will then remove it from the heat, add the orange slices, four whole cloves, and one and a half cinnamon sticks. Also something to sweeten it up a little, I used 1-2 tablespoons of honey. Sugar or agave nectar are also possible substitutes.

I left it there for a little over thirty minutes, I think, though up to an hour is recommended. I also turned the heat back on to a very low setting.
After that, it was time to heat it up again, and then to strain it through a sieve.

The mulled wine is now ready to be served.

Verdict:
Not bad at all.
Maybe not as good as the one from our French partner town that is sold every year at my hometown's Christmas market, but quite passable. Definitely good enough for two stars. My awesome heat resistant double wall glasses are a lot better than the vessels you typically get at a Christmas market, though.
This may have been the last time before Christmas when we had time for some cooking for our challenges. We are not entirely done yet, though. I heard Prim made cinnamon stars, and she also mentioned that she wanted to try crêpes some time. I myself would also like to give crêpes another shot, and also try the "christmassy" variations of waffles and mini donuts, as well as currywurst - which is not even a christmassy dish at all, it's just common takeout food.
All of this can also be done over the holidays. But until Christmas, this will likely be our list (barring the cinnamon stars, which will probably be added soon):
Crêpes (standard)
Variation: with chocolate
Variation: with booze
Mulled wine
Mini Donuts (standard)
Variation: with "Christmassy" flavoring
Waffles (standard)
Variation: with "Christmassy" flavoring
Churros
Lumumba (cocoa with rum)
Bratwurst and fries
Variation: Currywurst
Cinnamon stars
Cheese fondue
Reibekuchen (potato pancakes)
Bonus:
Christmas Stollen
Tarte flambée
No HORSE race tonight. We are probably done for this year when it comes to poker challenges.
