There it is!

Just did it. Ran the 5k! Well, guess it might be a tennis-player-thing :f_biggrin::f_ugly: but playing tennis for hours and hours at over 30°C during summer is an enormous endurance-booster! I went for a nice run for the first time after tennis season. Well, took me more than 30 minutes to run those 5K but hey: Just recovered from a bad muscle injury and a common cold! Was suprised myself that I could run my "standard" 5K (my usual course), but well: There it is!

Edit: There will be terribly sore muscles tomorrow. :rage::rage::sifflote:

"Go to hell!" (name of this dish)

No insult! This is in fact the name of this dish! It´s really called spaghetti "go to hell!". This dish is connected to so many memories of my youth! When I was younger I used to go to a restaurant which served zillions of different spaghetti variations. Well, an one of those variations (my personal favorite!!!!) was indeed called spaghetti "go to hell" - because, you can guess it, it´s HOT and spicy!

It´s basically olive oil, garlic, tomatoes and different kinds of hot and sweet peppers. What a lucky coincidence that I had to harvest all my sweet pepper (due to cold weather) and still got some HOT chilis left! This spaghetti "go to hell" was made of sweet pepper, tomatoes, Zimbabwe Bird´s Eye, Aij Charapita and Habenero.

Homer was a bit irritated yesterday when I told him "Lunch is ready and we´re having Go To Hell" (we had both a day off) :mdr: But then I explained what´s behind that name and that dish. His version was not so hot, only Bird´s Eye and Aij Charapita, I used TWO Habeneros for mine (which I deeply regretted today!!! :rage: )

Prim is showing me up again, just casually running the 5K meters the first day after recovering from sickness and injury. :f_ugly:

Ah well, maybe I could do it too if I was really pushing myself, but I try to gradually work towards it so I can hopefully reach a decent pace too, and to make sure that I will be able to consistently run that distance and not just once.

Still, Primrose seems to be quite a bit fitter than me in general, I have some catching up to do. :f_grin:

When a simple Arrabbiata just won't do... :sfishy:

Looks good, Prim. :f_thumbsup: My own Mediterranean Surprise Menu should be coming up shortly.

Well, consider all the hours and hours I spent on the tennis court .... that makes you pretty fit!

My turn. :f_grin: Mediterrannean was our motto, and... while I wanted to save it until we roll Italian, possibly together with vegetarian, I decided to make some bruschetta.

I have heard that you are supposed to de-seed the tomatoes, to make sure that the bread won't get all soggy. Well, let's try it.

We will just dice the tomatoes, and toss them with chopped basil leaves, some parmesan cheese, and chopped garlic. We later mix in balsamic vinegar, olive oil, pepper and salt.

For bread, I just got a store-bought ciabatta loaf for the oven.

I toasted the slices a little in a pan too.

So... let's combine it all, the tomato mixture and the bread slices.

Not bad... :f_grin: But quite messy to eat...

Even with this regular bread, I had trouble keeping it from falling apart as I was cutting it...

It's one of the things that made we want to lightly toast it in a pan again, as I ended up doing.

With both of our Surprise Menus out of the way, we can now draw the motto for next week's dish:

Spoiler

DOUBLE! How exciting. :f_grin: We will get two mottos for the price of one next week.

What will they be?

Spoiler

Okay... will we ever get out of the Mediterranean region? :f_ugly:

What else?

Spoiler

Eggie - anything involving eggs.

An Italian dish with eggs... hmmm... spaghetti carbonara, maybe?

Let's see what we can come up with. :f_grin:

Also, after taking my first ever Hungarian exercises on Duolingo, I think I know why the grindette can just easily run 5K meters straight out of bed - If you can speak this language, you can do anything...

I am in awe how the simplest things can look so complicated in that language... early on, I ended up wasting all of the "lives" I had left on that site just trying to find the Hungarian words for "and", "the" and "a". :f_ugly:

I caught on, though. Maybe I deserve 'egy nagy póhar sör' already?

Ah, better to wait until the weekend. :f_drink:

:f_ugly: Here we go with the suffixes again... I guess I'll settle for "egy kicsi pohár sört".

Or one of these:

Harrier: It´s a finno-ugric language! You better get used to the suffixes! A lot of suffixes! :f_wink::sifflote:

Well, while we're at it...

Primrose seemed reluctant when I suggested it to her this evening, but now that I have given it a try myself... I think I will officially challenge her to it here. :f_grin:

Come on, Prim - it's going to be fun. :f_love:

Just give it a try, we can do it together, if you like. You wouldn't want to keep her waiting, would you? :f_wink:

No Trollwatch today. As we had been informed before, the swimming pool where we would do our lessons had been reserved for another DLRG event this weekend, which was a special 24 hour swimming marathon. The pool would be open from 2 PM Saturday to 2 PM Sunday, and anyone would be free to swim for as long and as often as they like during that time, while people would count their lanes. Certain achievements would be honored with awards. For example, there is a "Nighttime Trophy" for whoever swims the most lanes between 2 and 6 AM.

It sounds pretty cool, especially that Nighttime Trophy... but not cool enough for me to make the long trip over there at like 1 AM on a Sunday morning. I would have done it if it had taken place in my local pool instead. By the way, I heard a young lady set a new record at this event a year or so ago. She swam for 23 hours straight, only taking short breaks of around 10 minutes every hour. Now that's some dedication... :f_eek:

Anyway, I used the free Sunday to make some adjustments to my Road to 5K jogging plan, preponing (is that really a word?) my planned Saturday workout to Friday, and my Monday workout to Sunday, allowing me two free days early next week. This should make it easier to get a tennis session in on Monday, and of course work late as usual on Tuesday.

We are about halfway through with the plan, and so far, things are going great. Let's keep it up! :f_grin:

...and I am fully aware that I forgot to post a new Troll Trivia question last week. I figured I would just wait until the following weekend rather than posting one late. So here it is:

Troll Trivia of the Week

Before playing poker with a strategy, Harrier may have had some real gambling problems. At one point, this even led to him...

1) deliberately taking a fail in a university course
2) stealing a kebab sandwich
3) selling his microwave oven

Italian and eggie and MUSSGO!

This one is just perfect: not only it´s a lazy cow recipe, but I can use up my very last eggplant and some of my very last tomatoes. And still got some basil ... So: Let´s make an Italian Fritatta:

Oh, Primrose is now playing? :f_grin: Fair enough, I guess I never told her this story. Solution coming next Friday.
