Hi. My name is Guilherme i'm from Brazil.

I play mostly NL10 on pokerstars .

Like i said on the title of my blog, i'm here mainly seeking for help to leave NL10. I play this limit almost every day for the last 14 months and have a decent winrate, but i have to withdrawal almost all my winnings every month in order to pay some bill, so it's pretty hard for me to make my move up to NL25 and above. Lately i'm feeling very depressive, and lost almost all my motivation to play, i simple hate to play NL10.

Maybe by posting here constantly i feel a little bit more motivated and try to shoot more agressively at least until i reach NL50.

I wil try to post at least 1 hand per day from some situation that i struggle with, mainly in late formation (BBvsSB, BBvsBU, SBvsBU, BUvsCO) if someone could help analyse my hands i would be pretty happy.

Seems to me that the MAIN THING that is keeping you from moving up in stakes, is the money that you withdraw every month...

Just move up and see how it goes! Your winrate is high enough to crush NL25 with, be confident in your own game! _drink:_thumbsup:

Just wondering, what makes you hate NL10?

Spoiler

Try not to create mental blockades for yourself...

I have to withdraw at least 400$ every month, there are months that i make 600-650$ post rakeback, but there are months that i make only 350-400$. But my expenses remain the same so in the end it's pretty tough to my mental health try to always win the amount i need and also try to climb limits. But i'll try to improve this mental, psychological aspect.

Do you think a 2-3BI shoot is the correct aproach? Given that i can't risk a lot of money.

And why i hate to play NL10? It's because i put a lot of effort in my game, i take poker extremely serious, but i feel at NL10 it's really pointless to study at this depth. I love to study GTO theory and the exploits given that population deviate by million miles from GTO thresholds. But i feel the gain from this hard work it's pratically non existant at NL10. I feel this will give me an edge at higher limits vs strong oposition, but i'm losing my will to study given that i'm stuck at this limit playing for pennies.

From what I see, you play about 33k hands monthly, which is not big volume for such a low limit, and I assume you dont have any other income (since you have to withdraw every month), which means you actually have time to play. So Id say you should play like 4 normal tables and 2 zoom. 4 or 5 hours a day like that and it will be like twice as much hands, but dont play EVERY day, that must be exhausting like something very exhausting. You will have enough bankroll for nl25 in no time. After few days just swich one of normal tables for one nl25 table and swich more the more confident you feel (and most important thing is that there is a big fish there, you dont play higher just for the sake of playing higher). And last thing: you dont have "decent" win rate. You are crushing this limit dude, go and get them!

I have around 7 hours per day to dedicate to poker, currently i play around 4 hours and study around 3 hours. I can't play my entire day because I am currently taking a college course in computer science, i have a pharmacy degree but i don't like the carrer. I have some savings from my past job but i can't rely solely on this money, so i have to withdraw a good amount from my monthly winnings from poker. But i will try to play more, probably reducing my poker study hours to 1,5 and playing a bit more like 5,5 hours until i reach NL25.

Sick volume at nl10 and very good winrate. May I ask where you live?
How do you study, what you do to improve your game?

Would stacking be an option for you?

I live in Brazil, in the state named Sao Paulo.

I study mainly using a solver and hand2note4 range research. I also like to review my hands from situations that occur pretty frequently and have big impact in winrate like facing flop stabs, turn probe, river probe, flop cbets etc.

After my sessions, i'm studying right now with the solver SRP PFC OOP BB vs BU (single raise pots as caller oop), what i'm trying to do is study a small flop subset and determine the main thresholds (raise/call threshold, call/fold threshold, raise/call/fold threshold, raise/fold threshold and so on) in the most common nodes, paying attention to EV% and EQ% in these thresholds. After i map the theoretical GTO thresholds, i use hand2note4 to map what people are doing in real life and nodelock my simulations trying to obtain a good counterstrategy vs these tendencies and building some conclusions that i take notes on my One Note poker notebook. I'm not a expert in solver, but i'm trying to use everyday in a systematic manner trying to improve by small steps everyday.

Before my sessions i try to review 1 hand from a late formation very frequent situation like facing flop stab SB vs BB; flop cbet SB vs BB; flop cbet BU Vs BB and so on. What i try to do is use the solver to draw some good conclusion/heuristic in a broad manner that i can extrapolate to other hands and take this note to my One note notebook. this is my warm-up.

About stacking, maybe in the future. I think it's better try to reach NL25 or NL50 with my own resources and if i'm able to reach these limits maybe i will apply to some CFP/staking like nachos poker, metagame or poker detox.

Hey Guilherme, seems you have a lot of stuff going goid for you. Sharp brain, dedication, knowing that you dont want that career.
Only thing holding you back is the money. Well you wont make it like this unless you hit big upswing. I would suggest to separate BR from life money. Maybe you can get a small job to get that extra money. We all start with money on our minds or monetairy goals but that is super hard and pbb wont happen if you witdraw regularly at micro stakes.
Also make sure you have other stuff going on in life besides poker because at times where it will go bad it gets lonely and cold.

Best of luck!

I agree with you, i need to find some side income and not use my poker money at all.

I plan to get a job in the IT field as soon as possible, and I'm also thinking about working as a freelancer in the web development field, although this field of work is very saturated.

Thanks for the advices !

Hi, thanks for the advice.

I exercise myself everyday, but i never made any kind of meditation or yoga practice. I will search more about the subject and try to implement in my daily routine.

I agree with you, it's impossible to keep doing what i'm doing right now for long term.

All the love bro, I've been through depression myself when our second son was born in 2019. I hated life, you like can't get out of the matrix of society, that is extremely depressing. Depression is very strong feelings that takes your life over and you have no option to escape. In a way it puts you into contact with your true feelings. But there is one way out - to beat the whole system - and that you can accomplish only with bhakti yoga. There was like a huge problem in my life - my girlfriend's mother hated each and every Christian, while her own daughter (my girlfriend's older sister) is Christian with her family. I am still facing that and I cannot believe the whole story but thanks to bhakti yoga I win even in such extreme circumstances. Good luck in your career :f_thumbsup:
