Just a question, at what point is it deemed "right" to start whinging about downswings?
I ask because I've been on a downswing since the weekend, and today I hit a nice -40BB session, can't complain, variance, yada yada yada. As the caca is hitting the fan, when can I start complaining? -200BB? -250?
Let me know and I'll start learning how to copy graphs into the forum... I know you all loves a bit of dirty chart-porn...

According to the PS articles you aren't on a downswing until you've lost 500bb.
You really need at /least/ 1000bb before you are allowed to whine.

Cannot agree. I would suggest nit whining management. Whining after you lose 1000BB is OK but for a solid player whining starts after losing 1500-2500BBs. There is a lot of stuff about whinig management on PS forums, you should try to look for threads with F*CKING, F****CK and SH*T in subjects.

Depends on standard deviation and your winrate imo.
I wrote a little simulator yesterday, so I can show you some stuff. With a winrate of 5bb/100 and a standard deviation of 80bb/100, if you run 1000 simulations, here are the runs with the best end result and the biggest downswing after one million hands.
But if you look at just the first 100K hands you get.
The moral of the story? You can whinge after a 100K downswing, but if you're still losing money after 1M hands, you're a losing player.

that is definitely too long a test for me to find out whether i suck.......... imagine getting a job and then realise 6months down the road that u actually sucked. lol
