Unfortunately, the last few days I've really let the frustration get to me and that's resulted in unnecessary losses. Somehow I have to focus on playing my A game despite the cruel difference between what I could have expected and what I have actually received. I haven't looked at the cashier quite so much this month which I guess is also a good thing...

I haven't read most of your blog, but I decided,
that I want to share some things with you.
Who knows, maybe you find something usefull.
However, I wouldn't mind to hear your thoughts about it, too.
I don't know how are you doing with looking at:
- graphs;
- cashier;
- BB/100 stats;
- etc.
What can I tell you, is that I've failed pretty hard in each of those, lately.
So, I came up with an idea to get over it.
Here it is.
I made a few rules for me:
- look at graphs, winnings, BB/100 stats only once a month;
- all the other time I can only look at played hands to analyze them.
To control this somehow, I made an Excel document,
where I write my session playing times and also write,
if I'm watching at these stats while I'm playing.
As you can see, there is a column named - looked there.
I figured, that I'll be able to control myself better this way.
I also find Sessions time important, because we want to be playing our A game more often,
but it is impossible to do after playing too long sessions.
So, we take breaks.

I played, and ran, disgustingly badly at cash in the first half of the month. I felt so depressed I was more or less ready to throw the whole thing in.
Somehow I managed to find the presence of mind to try something different. Just before we were due to leave for the USA, I decided to try some 6-Max sit and go's. Things went well and the break in the United States rejuvenated my flagging spirits hugely. I got stuck-in to the sit and go's once we returned, and since they have continue to go well, I've decided to take a long-term break from cash games.
I am now eight months into life as a poker pro, and the next four months (April -- July) will be a last attempt to demonstrate some reasonable earning capacity at the game. Although I have ran badly at cash overall it seems I'm not able to deal with my mistakes and confidence issues well enough to turn a decent profit.
This is not to say that my time spent playing cash games has been a total waste. For one thing I'm very much better post-flop than I used to be and this will be particularly important for 6-max sit and go's.
Immediate observations so far are that whereas my edge at NL 50/100 in cash is somewhat marginal there is a clear edge against the majority of players sitting down at the 6max low limit tourneys. Combined with a decent knowledge of push/fold ranges, I'm finding that my comfort level playing these games is quite high. Contrast this to the shark infested cash games on Full Tilt where I frequently felt out of my depth. The mental pain associated with making a big error for 100 big blinds (say getting all in with AA on a drawy flop versus an unknown opponent who wins with a set) seems to be much greater for than a comparable mistake in a tournament.
I'm realising -- more and more -- that being able to grind out a days work free from psychological "hurt" is absolutely crucial to making a living at this game. Regardless how much raw ability I might have had at cash games (and evidence suggests there was never that much), one way or the other I wasn't able to stay focused well enough to make good decisions consistently.
I will try to keep my hand in at cash over the next 3 to 4 months, playing perhaps one or two sessions per week if time allows, but my main focus will be on grinding out low -- medium limit sngs and trying to bring in a profit month by month. At the moment I'm running pretty well in the tournaments I have played since I switched, so the real test will be what happens when I hit a bad run.
I'll be playing a conservative mix of $10-12 and $22-24 SnGs, aiming to include some $36s (my nemesis run-bad limit from the old 9man days) once I have around 140 BI.

Now that enough time has passed and most of the pain has gone, I wanted just to record for posterity where I ended up after 540,000 hands of playing cash on FT since September 2009. It is important to be objective and not perpetuate the myth that I ran badly and that this was the reason I failed.
So, after 537,144 hands, my EV bb/100 stood at 0.22/100 and I was a total of 2052.16 bb below EV, i.e. only 20 stacks.
However, overall I ended up only $30 below EV with total losses of $1825.00.
Conclusion: tagfish rakeback reg at best.
Since I'm looking at my return to SnGs as something of a new beginning, here is a "good start graph":

I haven't been around much as I fell out of love with poker for a short time plus financial issues that come with not having a job makes it hard to justify even playing micro's with a little cash. But anyway, back (hopefully for good) and thought I'd catch up on a few of the old blogs I used to read.

Although looking at that SnG graph?! What are you doing playing CG's anyway? I wish you the best of luck turning this around and hope that you find some emotional stability at the table that stops that tilt... If you want me to I am happy just to sit and watch you play for a few hours a week, I'm only working friday and saturday nights at the moment plus a bit of work from my desk 
So I have the time to spare. It might make you think a little about those tilty moments if someone is there watching.
Just a thought.

I am so unbelievably slow on the uptake, I only just found out about what's going on with Tilt n Stars.
Initial thoughts: it's going to be okay. At some point -- sooner or later -- someone is going to realise the massive hypocrisy in disallowing online poker while permitting brick and mortar casinos to thrive in Vegas.
The real question is how long the shit storm will last in the meantime.
Right now there are supposedly around 50,000 players on FT, which is more than you ever find on PP, so I should still be able to find enough games at my crappy limits to keep things ticking over.
Not quite sure whether I should be withdrawing any of my roll from FT. Guess I'll leave it there for 24 hours and see if things have got any worse...
My American history isn't so great but if memory serves, whenever the've tried to ban something (or declared war on it) in the past, it's been less than a resounding success.
