In this hand I pickup the 55 from middle position. I almost never
limp into pots, except when I have what I call a ``monster-or-nothing''-hand (small pairs, small suited connectors).

The reason being I want to drag as much people with
me on later streets in case I hit hard, to be sure to be payed off.

When I don't hit, I just fold to any resistance.

Here is the hand, please tell me if I'm doing something stupid.

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.02(BB) Replayer
SB ($1.68)
BB ($2.01)
UTG ($1.09)
Hero ($2.13)
CO ($0.89)
BTN ($1.62)

Dealt to Hero 5♥ 5♣

UTG calls $0.02, Hero calls $0.02, fold, fold, SB calls $0.01, BB checks

FLOP ($0.08) 4♣ J♠ 5♦

SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $0.02, SB calls $0.02, BB calls $0.02, UTG folds

TURN ($0.14) 4♣ J♠ 5♦ 5♠

SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $0.02, SB calls $0.02, BB raises to $0.08, Hero raises to $0.24, SB folds, BB folds

I feel I should have just called there, and then bet the turn...

I think you should bet and bet in this hand, no need to slowplay like that. If you choose to slowplay as you said, you can Call the BB's raise, instead of 3betting.

As play:

Flop: Just bet it. You hit a set. Just put a standard amount like 0.04 or 0.06.

Turn: For me, I think we should C-bet here, but put it like an half of pot to make it enough for someone who think he can Call or even Raise to that. In case, you got a Raise after your bet, just Call and have him pay you off on the River.

Regards.

Hello worldanizer,

I'd just bet normally on flop & turn which is near pot. Don't pick such dumb bet sizes with you wont even gain value. We need to build up the pot.

Best Regards.
