I'd expect his BB calling range to be quite tight and full of pocket pairs, and didn't give a straight draw any credit. The flop raise surprised me, but I didn't feel like folding top pair just yet. I felt very confident that the ace of not-hearts would not be a good card for him, and that's how it turned out.
I have a lot to learn about when to call down and when to fold to aggression. Was I right this time, or were the flop call and turn bet both lucky spew?
Bonus question - I'm in the habit of making 3BB steal raises in the button and small blind as opposed to 4BB raises from elsewhere, on the grounds that it makes no difference if the blinds fold and it's cheaper if they don't. Should I be sticking to a standard raise size?
Your play is pretty much a spew, neither your play doesn't make sense. Why do you donk 1/2 pot size? Would you ever do that with any strong made hand? Bet/Fold it right on the flop, there is no point to Bet/Call it like that.
