could i have played it differently? i didn't fold on the river since it really looked he had a missed draw

Hello gnawhalak,

Most likely against such an opponent who has so loose range and also could do the raise with TP/draws I would just 3bet and get it in on the flop. :) There ain't that many 2pair combos which beat us.

As played well, you just beat a missed draw and if you think he is capable of having it then sure, we can call-down.

but would a checkraise from a fish on a dry would would at times generally indicate a strong hand.. in this case possibly a set..

so i just called for pot control.

what do you think on this reasoning?

Nah, not always. The problem with pot controlling is there that what you want to see on the turn? He is going to Bet the turn anyways.
