Are you from wellington? nice to see a fellow kiwi. Yeah the rake in NZ is massive. You do see a lot of straddles and checks in the dark. The guys make a big deal about it as if they're doing some great move but it just doesn't make sense to me. You should play in Dunedin, the game is quite soft there from what I've seen.

Nah its me that's from Wellington.
And the hands I posted were from Dunedin lol, agree its very very soft, both the cash game and the tourney. 
I used to play there a little when I went to Dunedin for uni.
Sorry legand73 but I've never been near the Australian continent ( I hope I will visit it someday ). I am Romanian living in Morocco so, no connection. I had however the opportunity of playing the game live in Morocco, USA, Canada and England. Metza is from Wellington. Cheers !

Did you ever play any KPL games? I played a little bit at Kensington in 2012 and there were quite a few dealers who played there because they weren't allowed to play at the casino. Also I played a bit at Robbies and the other month ended up in a single table Sunday Storm Satellite against someone I'd played there. Small world.

Yeah I played a few times at the Kensi last year but don't really like tourneys and it's a bit of a lottery there so I stopped going. Yeah a lot of the dealers would do that i'm sure that i would know most of the people that you talked to I'd say and I may even have been one of them lol. Wow yeah small world
Yeah I don't really like it there too much either. Mainly the thing me and my two other friends that play poker liked was that it was freezeout which was good for us poor students lol. But yeah it was pretty much a crap shoot, I reckon it was the live equivalent to super turbo, not much time before you're at push or fold.
Even if you don't like tourneys, when you can I'd recommend having a crack at the Casino one every now and then. I'm sure you've already seen the craziness, but jesus I saw two players who were double stacked early on, like 200bb deep each w like 2k @ 50/100, all in preflop 5bet with A5o vs Q3s (Q3 got trips to win). Although maybe it was just some sick levelling that went over my head
Did you ever go to the live NL200 game at Heff's? I thought about it but that place always seemed kinda seedy to me so I gave it a miss.
No i don't even know where you mean? wheres Heffs? I would If i knew. Yeah i might give the casino one a crack but we'll see. Definitely keen on the cash games though except they have one round Omaha and one round of hold-em so i'll be taking a break between the two because Omaha looks so crazy. haha yeah it could me some massive meta-game where they both have crazy reads and history with each other
and yeah the freezeout part is good for me too being a student as well.
I heard at Kensi that there is an NL200 cash game on Tuesday nights at Heffs. Some of the other dealers may know. I'm not in Dunedin anymore so I can't find out for ya.
I imagine its not too publicized as its defs not legit. I don't think there is rake there either but I think its self dealt which is also another slightly suspect thing about it. I think its NLHE only most times. I think the tourney is on tuesday to so you could go along to that and ask around about the cash game.
Also at the Casino if anyone at the table doesn't know how to play Omaha (well sometimes they try anyway, but you know) then its just Hold'em.
My plan after finishing uni was to have a month of Wed-Sat live poker but after a few sessions I started to feel quite bad as there were old guys just constantly spewing cash. I was making like 20/hr on average from what I felt were three fairly standard sessions no rungood, but I couldn't do it, I just felt really bad even though I am sure that they can afford it fine, they were just nice people though. I dunno why I felt bad really but I did. 
yeah I know what you mean. When i was dealing there i noticed some very strange and exploitable plays. Would you rather make less money off skilled players instead? like you want to win just not too much?. I guess it would be harder to take money off a human rather than taking money off an avatar.
It was just the frequency they were rebuying I think. Like casually dropping a grand on a bad night, and they were there most nights. I doubt they'd feel bad donking me for a full 200 so I guess I shouldn't have.
How much longer till you can play there?
I just played regional finals tonight for Wellington NPPL Poker. Busted 17/88 and 16 qualify for nationals 
Oh yep yeah i'm sure they'd think nothing of taking 200 off you. I can go back in 4 months or so.
