4betting pre is an option i would consider, but what about postflop? floating ,raising....?
Because poker is a multistreet game, it is hard to say what we should do with hands like KJ vs 100% cbet, and wide 3bet ranges.
I'll give some examples, provided we know how villain plays the turn (and to some extent the river). The first one is a good default assumption I think
We have fairly deep stacks, villain will barrel scarecards, villain will shut down with air on blank cards, villain will continue with nutted hands on blank cards, our strategy is:
Check/call a lot of flops is good. Basically any flop that's somewhat disconnected is fine, even if we don't have a lot of equity. Check/fold the turn unless we hit a J or a K (in which case we go into check/calldown mode). Bet the river if villain checks back the turn.
Villain barrels all the time! All streets!
Check/call 2 overcards, check/fold turn unless you hit. Check/fold 1 overcard, no overcard spots.
Villain shuts down a lot on the turn. Continues betting his nutted hands:
Check/call nearly any board. Bet river when turn's checked.
Lastly make sure when you do hit top pair against this opponent, you let him continue barreling. Don't check/raise too many flops (JT8 for example would be one where check/raising's fine). Depending on stacksizes you can check/raise your draws.
