Poker Stars, $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

BTN: $7.51 (150.2 bb)
Hero (SB): $5.11 (102.2 bb)
BB: $6.42 (128.4 bb)
UTG: $2.52 (50.4 bb)
MP: $23.23 (464.6 bb)
CO: $12.50 (250 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 6 A
2 folds, CO raises to $0.15, BTN folds, Hero raises to $0.45, BB folds, CO calls $0.30

Flop: ($0.95) A T 2 (2 players)
Hero bets $0.65, CO calls $0.65

Turn: ($2.25) T (2 players)
Hero bets $1.55, CO folds

Here I 3bet as a bluff, and when he calls I am pretty sure he would be 4betting with AK, KK, KQ. So I think his range is something like AQs AJs JJ KQ broadways etc I felt like with my A6s I would be having reverse implied odds against AQ AJ, so I decided to barrel like I had AK. I am really not sure if this was a mistake, or what. I realized I turned my hand into a bluff, and I think in this situation it might have been a mistake. Villian was on the titgher side, but would raise his nuts. I just felt like he is going to hit a marginal hand here, I decided to aim to get him off hands that beat me other than to get value from under pairs, who I don't think would have given me too much value anyway.

Let me have it :f_o:

Hi Chowchow12,

Preflop: I think your 3-bet OOP is too small. I would make it 10-11 BB there.

I think that while betting the flop is fine I can't see why you are betting so big on the turn.

What worse hands call you there when you 2/3 pot that "blank"? JJ will most likely fold and third pairs will too.

And we aren't really bluffing either because nothing better folds (which is part of the definition for a bluff). What better hands is he folding?

I guess I never really made it clear, but I was ready to barrel 3 streets to get him off AJ Aq etc, my impression was he was tight enough he wouldn't be calling a river bet with those hands, but that's why I am asking you if that is a reasonable assumption.

Oh ok, I understand what you meant now.

People that generally call 3-bets with AQ/AJ don't fold them when they hit TP unless the board is really ugly. So I usually don't try to bluff at 5-10nl in spots like this.
