Many of you will have heard of the movie called 21 based on the MIT Blackjack team. Are there any movies that have a poker role? One of the oceans film is in a casino but is blackjack.
"cincinatti kid"
"rounders"
"lucky you"
"deal"
"shade"
"casino royale"
"the grand"
Rounder is my favorite poker movie.
Andy Bloch was the inspiration for 21 and he is now a poker player

btw. "the grand" <- a must see ♦ i lol'd hard
trailer:
I agree, Rounders is quality. Deal was average and Casino Royale intense, but unrealistic.
The Grand is a good one for some laughs... interesting idea to have the final 6 play a real tourney and not even the director knew who was going to win until the final hand... it's like the Spinal Tap of poker ♦
I didn't know where to post this, but it's totally worth it.
Watch "I love you, man!" minute 17:50. I didn't find any clip to share.
It's this guy who plays poker and goes all in with trips, all fold, but one. The actor in the main role calls the all in. He just learned to play poker and this two guy don't really get along fine.
The poker guy shows the trips and wants to take the pot, but one of the other player wants to see what the novice has...
He says "Oh.. I got nothing" and turns 27spades. FLUSH!
And the other guy goes on tilt..."HOW COULD YOU CALL WITH THAT HAND PF and WITH A RAINBOW FLOP! xyz..." "Sorry... didn't know it was rainbow"
The scene it's so funny, just watch it. (and hard to describe
)
EDIT:
ROUNDERS it's my favorite.
EDIT2: Found the video...

I remember watching Deal last year before I came in touch with poker myself. Having seen it again last week I have to say... it's less good then I remembered it.
The part where Burt Reynolds is like "he's got AQ" just by the look on someones face is completely retarded
Oh well it's good entertainment, there's a whole lot movies that are way worse :p.
I've seen few, the latest would be "Lucky You"
I was so excited to find out that they have some pros on cameo there but the movie sucked.
seriously, do they allow that in WSOP with hole cam & all? (spoiler alert!!! not that you need it, LOL)
Huck Cheever (Erik Bana, I guess the writer was a fan of Huck Seed) is playing against his father, JC Cheever (Robert Duvall) and some unknown net player who kinda remind me of Jeff Madsen (he was probably the reference).
Anyway, Huck has AA, JC has KK, they went heads up, I think both have two pairs (there's a board pair) but obviously Huck has the nuts, JC went all in Huck calls, JC shows his cards THEN...Huck sees his father wearing his mother's wedding ring so he MUCKS!!! said something like "You got Kings, huh? That's good" like...WTF?! isn't that collusion?
anyway, I was more upset with the director having to make Doyle lose or giving Jennifer Harman a screen name...she was called Shannon...ugh...
Rounders was my inspiration to be a pokerplayer
so +999 for rounders
lol I even watch it on youtube when i play a big tourney, just to remember to stay focused and why im playing

LOL, you should probably research him before u make those accusations
Are we on about 21, the movie based on Bringing down the House. In the book he is called Kevin Lewis which was a cover up for Jeff Ma I believe.

Just did some research and yes Bloch was one member of several MIT teams, but he was not the inspiration for this film
