So I was browsing Youtube, and this video was suggested to me:
And it got me thinking. Does his Poker Poker method still work to this very day? I think that the field got harder and harder, so I was wondering how much of a help this book is today. I have nothing but respect for Dolly, it's just everyone says that it's the number one book on poker. Is this still true?

havent reviewed the book in quite some time.
as far as i rememeber the things he says are good, but not very concrete.
so when he states, "that you should have outs when bluffing", this is common sense by now.
if you look at a range analysis in comparison, it will show you the exact combos to pick.
so i guess, its an ok read, but you could make better use of your time.
Watching videos here at pokerstrategy is better. Don't bother with the book, unless you read it for fun.
Yea it could indeed be fun to read, but I don't think it will be that helpful... I have read it a loooong time ago and I also remember that the advice was quite vague and nonspecific, just like that "you should have outs when bluffing" or "playing in position is better" and stuff like that.
I'm also not sure how big thing maths were back then. I guess poker was mostly played by feel. No one talked about theory. And the book focuses on live games. Today's online microstakes are different.
Reading Super System 2 is rather like reading a historical novel -- you don't get much insight into how things are today, but you get a great insight into how things were before.
That comment applies to No Limit Hold'em
The articles on non-hold'em poker basic strategy are still valid, though.

My favorite part in this book was "rope-a-dope" and "hummer" explanations. Or something like that. Knowing how to play vs passive player and how to play vs aggressive one. My first aha moment long time ago.
