I think you have to bet for value and consider his stack size you can´t really b/f. So you can choose b/c 10$ or putting him all-in for 17$. He should call you down with kx hand
Agree, no way to get away from our hand given stack size and strength of hand. So we just want to get as much value from his hands as poss.
I think b/c $10 is better - he may think we can fold if he shoves, whereas he may just be able to fold a Kx (or 8x etc) if we shove. Ax shoves over the top anyway so we always end up allin vs the top of his range.
