Hi all!
I've decided that now its time to start my own blog ♠_cool:, mainly for accountability reasons, but I also expect to obtain some priceless advice here from experienced poker players.
So, a little bit about my poker experience:
I've been playing poker on and off for a couple of years now. Started a few years ago at Poker Strategy with $50 playing SNGs and after many ups & downs, quit poker for good (At least that's what I though at that time) having turned my $50 starting capital into just under $3000.
One year later, I've started playing again (from scratch i.e. $20), being unable to resist the temptations of poker and after a few ups & downs and turnarounds I've ended up in the FL SH field with a $650 bankroll. Unfortunately, I got hit by a monster downswing that brought me down to $450 (incl $100 bonus :f_cry:) and one day I realised that I've just been tilting my roll off for about a month and I had to make changes to my approach to poker.
I am going to use this blog to account for my poker sessions and poker education to make sure that I don't drop into bankroll-burning tilt again. ♠_grin:
So, here we go:
1) I am going to accept the realities of poker. I understand that poker is a game of variance and small edges, therefore, I should only be concerned about the decisions I make during a hand. Results of one hand or one session or even one month of sessions are irrelevant.
2) I will dedicate myself to a continuous process of improvement by reading and re-reading books & articles, watching videos and reviewing my hands.
This is the plan of action for meeting the targets above:
I will always approach my sessions in the following manner:
- open up 3 tables
- chose the most profitable one after collecting 30-40 hands
- continue to play only one table.
- Only display the following stats for my hud: VPIP; PFR; 3!; AF.
- Play the session for at least an hour. Quit the session unless I am in an extremely profitable spot.
- Only play one session a day.
I will then review the sessions and post the most interesting hands here for discussion that would hopefully benefit everyone who is interested.
I will watch at least 1 video and read / reread at least one article a week.
Please feel free to leave your comments and questions. The main purpose of this blog is to record my thoughts and my progress and to keep me on the right path, so I will be posting here anyway=)
