[Closed] Passwors authentication failed

when trying to create a database i get an error "FATAL: 28000: password authentication failed for user"deralte71". I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but keep getting the same error.

Hey deralte71,

you username is most likely not "deralte71". Do you remember which one you choose during the installation process of postgreSQL?

You can go to:

Start -> Run -> "cmd" -> Enter -> "net user" -> Enter

You should see a list with all users for your current windows installation. One of them is your postgreSQL user. Can you figure out the password for the correct user?

hello,

i have same problem
My user is tombic and i tried every password i ever used but still
Fatal: 280000 password autentication failed

is there any way i can reclaim password or create new database?

Hey,

are you sure you entered your PokerStrategy.com Username during the installation of postgreSQL?

This is by no means necessary and you should try to use the default user "postgres" to create your database.


You could try using the default user name (postgres) with the default password (dbpass). Or perhaps another user name with this, if you have used one.

Running cmd.exe (as an administrator) and typing "net user <username> <password>" sets the password for another user (including the one for postgreSQL databases). This may also help.
