could i have avoided paying out here?

I wouldn't open that loose in 9 handed my friend.

Maybe late MP+ I would open this, but this early your hand isn't really strong enough to raise here, so just fold it.

But as played I would call on the flop too, you've got a lot of outs to hit and make the best hand.

Since he's checking to you on the turn I would even bet a bit bigger like ~20 or something, since if you hit a spade or J you could get paid off a lot.

But certainly fold on the river.

This is only my opinion though, a hand judge will give you a proper evaluation!

thanks for your reply, today has been a massive downer, lost 3 dollors and out of the last 12 hands i played i didnt win one pot, missed the flop every time :/

Hello plebpl,

Preflop: Way too loose from MP1 while playing FR. Just fold the hand.
Postflop: And don't like the bet size on turn either. He is never gonna fold his Q there. If you want to bet at all then do a proper size ~$0,22.

And from your play I am pretty sure it's not only the downswing but you are doing yourself a lot mistakes as well, which cost way more money than you loosing with those downswings. Just use the downswings and try to learn from your mistakes and post hands. :)
