im having a hard time with these hands since its very obvious that he has a pocket here. this guy isnt really showdown bound and is easy to scare out of pots. so that makes it even more look like hes dominating me here - do some of you find a fold on the turn here? i think folding the turn would be correct - never seen him doing that with overcards. only possible hand i beat is 99 and im not even sure if he would play 99 that aggressive...

Rah I hate those kind of spot! I'm frequently beaten when I get caped, then 3-bet on the flop witch such a hand as TT, JJ or QQ (they often hold KK/AA). So I think a turn fold isn't a mistake.. Even more with the read you have on him..

Btw why are you only bronze playing such a high limit? ^^

i wouldn´t even think about a fold against most players up to 2/4 or 3/6 but i think that doesn´t offer much help to you hm ?

but i hate these kind of situations too. when you notice that you are most likely beaten you have to call down because the pot is already too big :P

/edit:
i guess he has the same problem as me: stars account is not tracked

im not tracked by pokerstrategy ;) my pokerstars account is too old and im playing ongame at tower gaming since mansions bonus system sucks :) thats the reason im writing so much here since i dont have access to the german fixed limit hand discussions. but i like the atmosphere here better anyway

hehe yea against most players i wouldnt fold that either. he was just so easy to get off hands so that i was very sure he had a hand!

what did he actually have ?

KK! with the timing tell i got by his betting speed i would even say it looked more like KK and AA then QQ. those timing tells are very important - sometimes you just feel it when somebody has a real monster by their fast and straight forward betting. try to look out for that feeling ;) its interesting how often it proves you right...

I've noticed that too ^^ Quick 3-bet flop = JJ+ on that kind of flop.. I know that but I never fold xD

I realy dont think you can fold an overpair in a hu situation.
On the other side it strongly looks your beat, after utg raise and cap preflop and flop 3-bet. I think the only possible hand you beat is 99, if he is normal tag. Perhaps stox would make a big fold here, but i am not able to do this.

The name nanonoko rings a bell, but I don't know how that's possible ^^

Few days ago TheBryce had a really interesting post on 2+2 explaining some maths behind those situations (or similar with JJ or something and A on the flop). I didn't really understand and now I lost it :P

If his capping range is 99+ AQo+ AQs+ I think you can call down here, if you are sure he will bet turn and river you get like 5:1 to call. If he plays it this way with 99 and TT aswell then the calldown is good I think. No idea if he ever does 3-bet flop with AK, but even if he would do it very few times it's better for you. There's maybe also a chance that he just checks the river so you can checkbehind which saves you another bet (not sure about this).

I'll see if I can find that post of TheBryce.

EDIT: Hmm, if you're not sure that he does this with 99 I think you can fold river.

The only thing I would have done differently is not raise the flop.
After being capped preflop I would have gone straight into WA/WB mode, unless I spiked a T of course.

As for Bryce, you usually need to have the IQ of Albert Einstein's smarter brother to understand what he's going on about! :)

This was the thread, it was actually about TT with an A on the flop, but the maths behind it can be used to some extent on this :)

I agree with PokerHammer. If you are not able to make tough laydowns (No offense because you normaly don't fold overpairs. :P) then I would simply play wa/wb. A better hand will 3-bet you can't fold but worse might fold because he showed that much strength and you said that is able to do this so letting him bluff should have more equity against him.

With perfect reads you can fold the turn which makes your flop raise better. (But only 1BB: 1,5 SB on the flop vs 2,5BB for a calldown.)

@cirith: yea i just like raising here since i wanna get informations from him. but your right if i get 3 bet with that read i have to fold the turn...if i dont wanna fold the turn i can play wa/wb as well

i didnt read it all through but there was a chapter in mathematics of poker where they analyse how to play that kind of hands. i dunno how it worked but the options were - calling down, checkraise flop bet turn or call flop and checkraise turn. and i think considering you might get out some pockets checkraising the flop was the cheapest method to get informations about the other hand and it was the best way to play it.
