When i wake up I make some coffee, have 2-3 cups during my poker session, but most importantly i make sure im well fed before starting, or you're just digging your own grave.

i often drink caffeine during or just before a session but i find its usually best to wait at least an hour or so before playing. I think this was mentioned somnius' psychology of poker video series if im not mistaken.

I think coffee is ok, but energy drinks are very calory heavy so they should be avoided.

I mostly play deep stack tournaments that last for 6+ hours and always have a giant 1 pint of coffee after the first break every time.

Never tried energy drinks, a friend of mine that cannot drink alcohol for religious reasons drinks them a lot when we go out and he gets up to some crazy stuff that I wouldn't even think about doing after 15 pints of guiness.

Don't drink hot chocolate late at night when you are playing.. You get super tired and noddy...Trust me it's like insta-loose focus

Generally speaking caffeine is not a great option. It is a stimulant so it will work for a short period but all it does is make you yearn for more caffeine and next thing you know you are addicted!

tried having energy drinks one session. my heart started beating pretty fast, i think i played very suboptimal- too spewy, aggressive. like having too much adrenaline and anxiety. wont do it again i think. coffee didnt have as much effect on me.
