Hi English Community!
Since i want to improve my MTT/MTSNG game, i think it is a good thing to start posting some hands here, since i know here are some good MTsng/Mtt players :)

So this will be the first one of probably a lot more
Excuse me for my english, trying to make it as clear as possible for you guys to read this.

Ok, so this is a hand which really is going through my mind today, because i can't figure out how to play this hand. A fish limps from UTG+1 with >30 BB.
I have 25 bb myself. I debated shoving, because he will fold a ton, but then I thought i have to manbu BB for this. I would have shoved for about 15 bb, prity standard i guess?

So i check, and i flop a prity good flop for my hand. But I think the stacksizes are prity awkward for this hand. Certainly when he pots it. My first intention was to check-shove, but i thought a big committing raise might look stronger, because even for a fish, a check-shove would look very drawy. so that's where i chose for this huge raise.

I'm prity interested to hear some thoughts :)

Regards,

PTIIIPTAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Checking preflop is best in this spot. Ur hand is rather weak but could still flop well.
On the flop I would play bet/push. I'd bet about 1k and I'd push on any raise. It's hard to determine UTG+1s range but I'd guess it's something like Ax-AT,22-99,T9s-KQs, maybe some random stuff as well. The bet/push line on the flop is +EV with ur hand on this flop, opponent will fold a lot of his mid pairs and maybe u can even get him off 88-TT sometimes. Against better draws u still have two live cards and against the type of hands that have u beat u will also have considerable equity left with ur FD and runner runner draws.

Thnx for you reply.

I like the bet/push line a lot, we take initiative and make the hand easier to play.

However i don't like the 1k sizing you suggest. I think if we make it this big, we risk that he will just shove, since a raise from his point of view will commit a lot of his stack.

So how about leading 650/700, and then push when he decides to raise us?

I guess u could decrease the raise size a bit but I'd not bet less than 800 here. I think that smaller raises will just make u end up on the turn staring at a blank card too often.

pre cheking is best

flop ->donk/bet turn ~650/1400 evaluate river
or c/c flop evaluate turn

as played calling flop is only option imo

Welcome to the English forum, Dutchie ;)

To be honest, I'd rather check-shove instead of making it 2/3 of your stack since he might think he has some sort of fold equity and shove his hand more often than vs a shove. Other than that I think bet-stacking off is perfectly fine in this spot and I think a 900-1000 sizing is fine aswell. I wouldn't make it smaller for two reasons: 1, you decrease your own fold equity and 2, you want to stack off or at least get as many chips in as possible when you do hit on the turn/river and this is just harder when you make it too small on the flop.

about betting(leading) big on flop i just to add something about stack sizes

do u realize that utg can play perfect vs our range if we bet/bet big???

We're not playing against UTG, but against UTG+1.

Thnx Monsieur Bartos! ;)

Hm, true point there. I find it sometimes difficult to think like a fish (for as far i am not one myself ) But yes, i agree with your point he could possible think he has fe.

I really think i'd rather check/fold then check/call.

We are playing vs a potbet, out of position, with a weak flushdraw.

I think i prefer anything better then check/call in this spot.
Just my 2 cents

w/e is same
his range is same utg or/utg+1

and i dont like c/ai cos no fish ever folds AX on that flop and they often call with Qx/Kx flush draw in that spot

With the sizing he makes it, I think checkcalling isn't really an option with so little money behind and such bad odds. I think he'll fold a good portion of the time on the flop. If you disagree with that, I'd rather fold as played. I think donkbetting is OK, but I still prefer check-shoving.

yea i disagree

as played
on flop imo fold is better the c/rai cos from his sizing i dont think that he will like ever fold if Hero shove

but imo i do think that we r getting ok odds with stack sizes/implied odds to call on flop (we have ~2x pot size if we call) cos he will never fold if flush hit on turn (obv we must lead on turn if flush hit cos we dont like him to check back)

I also like to make the nitty fold, I think you have little FE (from his sizing) and surely you can get in better than this 40/60 with 22bb?

I mean its obv +EV to get it in but if the level isn't going up soon I might make a fold (since I like every other mtt player overrate my edge with 20bb :f_biggrin: )

we r not getting bad odds and we had good stacks left behind

efective stacks r like 10k pre

so hero is getting like 1,8:1 on flop with like 8,5k behind efective and ~2x pot size left on turn

when villain makes that bet on flop our implied odds r huge cos he most likely has a hand that he will pay off at least 1 bet when xD hit

also we got to mention that villain sometimes will check behind on turn(with better flush draw or PP smaler then A) and we can bluff him on river

i realy realy hate c/rai in this spot and i think is realy bad specialy with that sizing

if he made smaler bet i think c/r to a size when we will have like 70-80% pot size on turn would be better then c/rai

ex. if he bet 800-1k we raise to 3400-3800 (obv sigh call if he 3bet shove) and shove nay turn

I don't really agree with letting "obv +EV" spots go here. You might get other/better +EV spots, but that doesn't mather too much imho. I think it's OK to take any good +EV spot here since your stack will increase by quite abit, and so will the playability of your stack.

Basic c/f spot imo. Different story with some str8/overs/2pr outs. Just the fd and nothing else doesn't warrant getting involved whatsoever.

c/r is better since it's not that draw likely as a check-jam is imo
