Problem connecting, 888 support no help

Hello everyone,

I am having difficulties connecting to 888 poker at a specific location and their support system is absolutely not helping me in any way. Would anyone here be able to assist in answering a few questions?

Here is the situation:
I can log in absolutely fine from home and play whenever/whatever I want on 888 poker. I Haven't had any issues at home. At school on the other hand, I'm having a very generic and difficult to figure out error occur. The school uses wireless connections throughout the campus, I don't know enough about these things to say more than that. All connections to poker 888 simply fail. I am able to play on any other poker program that I run (PKR works fine, Poker 770 works fine, haven't tested Party poker yet and can't right now because I'm on a different computer.)

I have attempted to play on the no download flash version but that does not work either. Is there any specific reason why only poker 888 is unable to work at this location? Is there any way to find out? I know it's possibly a firewall issue but if that's the case I'm probably out of luck. I don't have access to firewall settings for the schools connection. it seems unlikly for that to be the issue, however, because only 888 poker is affected so far.

I've asked 888's customer help system and been through the FAQs and of course neither of those have helped. I am savvy enough to try restarting my internet connection. I've also sent in a .jpg of the error message that occurs multiple times like they have requested but I have not received anything other than a copy/paste response from the support manager.

I am going to be spending hours every week day at school with little to do and I'd like to spend it playing poker on the site with my largest bankroll. Any help would be appreciated.

If the picture would be necessary then I can edit it into the OP when I get home.

Thank you very much.

Hey there,

normally you can't play from any school ground. whatever you'll do won't fix this imo.

Hope others will comment too soon.

Is that something that only occurs with 888? it seems to work with the other programs I use. I guess I will need to try more programs next semester.

Thanks for the quick reply though!

Hi jimanyjerk,

Normally schools and colleges will block out all Poker Rooms/Casinos and other such websites from their allowed listing. Some (rare cases albeit) block Facebook and other social networking websites.

I guess, it depends on school to school in this matter.

Kind regards,
Gary

I was hoping the opposite but oh well. I guess I'll have to spend my time studying for now...

I have the same problem from my home computer and a wireless network. I can play in Poker Stars but it won't connect to 888 saying "unable to connect. Please try again or contact member support." Member support is no help at all so I un-installed and re-installed 888 only to get the same message.

Anybody with more info or help will be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys!!

I guess you've all seen the e-mail 888 has send to all their players. It was an e-mail called "Please accept our apologies with 15K in freerolls + 50 usd gift‏". In the e-mail they admit that there were issues with the connection and they offer a special bonus plus 5 $3000 freerolls.

If you didn't receive this e-mail, just let me know and I'll give you some more information.
